Absima Shock - Bits Missing After 1st Run!
SNAKEBITE replied to SNAKEBITE's topic in General discussions
Do I delete them from other posts? -
I'm also terrible at looking at all of the site as I go straight to "General Discussions", hence my late reply to this thread!
-
I'm interested in coming along with my son. Neo and Rising fighters respectively. Just interested in having a spot of fun, nothing competitive as the cars are what they are and I don't really want to spend time and money going through any race scrutiny etc Just have a bit of fun.

Thanks Greg.

Anyway, has anyone else had bits fall off from these shocks like this? -

Absima Shock - Bits Missing After 1st Run!

Anyway, I knocked up a replacement which I think fits a damned sight better. -
After fitting the brand new Absima shocks to my son's buggy last week we took it out on Saturday. After the run I was dusting it off and noticed this....

Talking to a bloke in our office and he said that he used to have a Tamiya Cheetah. Now I had never heard of this model and subsequently looked it up on here and found this thread: Now I suggested he brings it in and we get working on it, we work in an Engineering shop so in theory we could cobble together anything. Just one question: Can you talk to me about the torsion bars, and what's involved as they may be one of the failed parts.... Hopefully @carider may be of some help. Thanks in advance.....
-
I've not seen something like that before! I did get a stone caught between the driveshaft and the lower wishbone on Saturday though and was just thankful it didn't pop it out Where were you running it?
-
It's a shame they can't just match up in colour, it would be so much simpler!
-
Gearing hadn't even crossed my mind either. I had assumed that the motors would behave differently with the same pinion, offering the 3 stages of performance.

Don't. Just Don't........

@Tamiyabigstuff you beat me too it!

If the connections are the same the battery should just hook straight up. I'm guessing it has the Tamiya connection? The 1400 refers to Miliampheres an hour (Ma/h) This is the maximum amount that the battery can give over an hour. A 3300 will give 3300 Ma over an hour compared to the 1400 of the old and presumably knackered battery. In short a 3300 battery will not make your car faster, it will allow the car to run for longer before being charged. It will also take longer to charge. You can buy a decent charger that shows when the battery is full (Red for no, Green for go) relatively cheap.

Give me a price for the tyres @ThunderDragonCy I might have them off you for spares for my son!

Might have answered my own question: https://rodneysrc.wordpress.com/2014/09/19/tamiya-sport-tuned-vs-torque-tuned-motor/
-
What difference can I expect between a Tamiya Standard 540, a Torque Tuned and Sport motor? I was looking at rough speed differences, doesn't have to be exact, just ball park figures e.g. 10 mph, 15mph, 20mph. My son has begun to notice his Standard is a little slower than my Torque motor. (His Rising Fighter vs my Neo Fighter). I was wondering would getting him a new motor make a real difference? I'm not worried about his being faster than mine, but was more concerned about the faster motors putting more stress on the drive train. Many thanks.

I was just wondering if it was Italian. Or French.

Am I missing something? I see all the talk about different tyres and compounds but was wondering if you really notice a difference? The reason I am asking is because whilst I do not race I find that using the stock tyres on different surfaces (grass, tarmac and gravel) gives different handling characteristics and just adds to the fun. I think if I swapped tyres around and had handling like a train on its tracks I'd lose a bit of the fun element. Am I missing out?

Visiting the Tamiya Factory in Cebu, Philippines
SNAKEBITE replied to mailboxck's topic in General discussions
Would love to visit, but can't help feeling that if it became a job it would take the fun out of it being a hobby! Fantastic write up and pictures. -
Thanks guys, I left this post a while before getting back to it. A lot to take in, but I'll get there!
-
Thanks for the help guys. I've gone and ordered "Pack A" which (hopefully!) contains the rods. I'll end up with a good few other bits, but that's not a bad thing really is it!

Suspension Swapping - Rising Figheter/Neo Fighter
SNAKEBITE replied to SNAKEBITE's topic in General discussions
Many thanks for the reply. -
Does anyone know where I can get new steering rods for a Rising Fighter please? These are the metal threaded rods that connect the servo to the steering joint on the wheel hub. Either separately, or the parts bag they come in. My son has bent one, and whilst I have bent it back it is weakened and is affecting the steering on the car. Many Thanks..
