  1. My son has decided he would like a suspension upgrade on his Rising Fighter. I was going to upgrade my Neo Fighter shocks, for no other reason than I can. My questions are: 1) Can I put the Neo Fighter shocks on my son's Rising Fighter? 2) If not, what length shocks do I need for the Rising Fighter? Many Thanks.
  2. Tamiya drift chassis? I think my son would love one, but I know nothing about them. Anyone got any experience? How easy are they to drive/drift? Secondhand or new? Thanks in advance.
  3. Look exactly the same as my DT-03 chassis Neo fighter!
  4. Fair enough.
  5. @lentner3 I moved from Burgess Hill last October! I know that BMX really well, we've been up there with the cars. The small pump track is ideal for cars. @i_am_scarecrow Would love to come for a Tamiya day my son comes down every other week so if it ties in with that then that would be brilliant. @Leckster Sounds good, I'll PM you!
  6. Nice to see the buggies being used and abused, but being looked after as well! At the end of the day it's all about fun isn't it.
  7. Do you actually run your cars? Just curious.
  8. Just curious, there seems to be a lot of very clean buggies in the photos on this site! How far do you go when cleaning your cars after running them? over the winter with my son our buggies got quite mucky, and whilst I got the worst off it was disheartening to keep them spotless. This weekend with the good weather we got out and the cars came back cleaner than when they went out! With a bit of a wipe down they look ok now, but there are a few crevices that remain a bit mucky, but I really can't be bothered too much!
  9. Lentner 3 & I_am_scarecrow, (or indeed anyone else in the area!) I see from your tags you are in Brighton and Shoreham. Is there anywhere you'd recommend for a bit of buggy bashing in this area? My son and I are looking for a few new places to run our buggies. Somewhere fun, off road but not so rough that'll he'll break everything on his car! Many thanks
  10. I'm a firm believer in right tools for the job. I have bought the tools needed to build the kits and to keep them going. These are in a small zipped tool bag that comes out with me when I take the cars out. Room in there for the lot, including batteries. It just goes over my shoulder and stays there. The bag is RC specific, I have (big) car specific tool kits, DIY specific kits and push iron specific tool kits.
  11. Brought a lump to my throat. I'm relatively new here but saw a few of his posts and realised he was a decent bloke.
  12. Thanks for the help. In fact I'm looking for tyres that are not that good, sounds silly but poor handling tyres are going to make it a bit more fun on what can be a boring surface.
  13. I'll have a look at those, thanks.
  14. I have just put a bid in for a set of OE wheels and tyres, so if I win those I could just get the tyres. Of course there is my son's car to think of............
  15. I would like to fit some new wheels and tyres to my DT03 Neo Fighter. It still has the original knobblies, which I want to be able to change for some block pattern tread tyres. Reason is I want to save the knobblies for off road, but use the block tread for tarmac and messing about. I'd like the wheels and tyres so I can swap them over on a whim. Does anyone have any links to a cheap supplier? Many thanks.
  16. You could draw a bodyshell on Inventor 3D modelling software and get a 3D printer program from that. Once you have that you might be able to use that as the former... A bit of a work up doing it but if had the volume..........
  17. These things should be used and enjoyed! However having two bodies is acceptable, one for show and one for use. When my son gets a Hotwheels car that is a little different/special I normally get a second one just in case they do become valuable. No luck yet, but you never know!!!
  18. Looking good. On one hand it's great to see the modifications, yet on another t seems a shame to break up an original. Although it all the parts are kept it can always be put back to original, so best of both worlds I guess!
  19. It's all about the room, or lack of it for me. The boxes I have are still on the able from Xmas, but I feel their time is limited.......
  20. NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOO......... Don't go spoiling my childhood dreams!
  21. Back in the80's I painted my old Falcon body with the Tamiya paint from a pot, and assumed it would be the same today. No, spray cans were all they had. I preferred the pots to be honest, lot less hassle!
  22. What is the silver stuff on the front? I'm guessing it's weight to keep the nose down. If it is then I was wondering wouldn't the extra weight affect the speed? Would having a slightly less powerful set up, and keeping the nose on the ground be better than having all the extra weight?
  23. I started off with the most basic of chargers and yes it takes hours! Next was a multiple output charger, it detects the delta peak and then reverts to a minute trickle charge, i.e. it knows when it is charged and effectively shuts down. In addition when I bought 2 new batteries I also got in another charger that is a single output but shuts off. It is a bit excessive, but I keep the third charger at work and after a weekends bashing I can charge up all six batteries in rotation at work (using their electricity! ) and also I'm there to swap them round, so it gets done fairly quickly. Prices were £25 for the multiple outputs and the single output was included in a deal with 2 batteries for £40.
  24. Exactly my thoughts on Tamiya. In England we seem to be able to locate parts a little easier, although I (and my son) are not at this stage yet, we're just enjoying the standard kits at the moment. I'm sure that day will come though..........
  25. Blimey that's got a bit complicated quite quickly! I thought they were relatively simple!
