  1. I REALLY want to get into flying FPV... have been doing a lot of research and sim flying recently before I make the 'jump'.
  2. Saito, how many cars do you own in total?
  3. Hi SCN, it's a XCSOURCE HJ Digital Servo Tester / ESC Consistency Tester Multifunctional Meter for RC Helicopter Airplane Car 4.8-6V RC188 got it on amazon. A bit more expensive than without the digital readout testers there. 6v Battery pack (4x1.5v AA batteries), many of those on amazon, I went for one with a switch on it.
  4. Also got this servo tester an item that I too never knew existed until last week: and also this Monster Beetle arrived from Tamico on a too-good-to-turn-down discount: ...plus ball bearings kit.
  5. Thanks SCN. Will check it out.
  6. Hi, has anyone used a Savox SC-1251MG Low-Profile Digital-Servo? Is this is a good servo for the likes of Hotshot, Monster Beetle, Egress, etc.? It's (quite a bit) more expensive than the Futaba s3003 mentioned above. Thanks.
  7. Just joined the 40 club. Got back into RC last Christmas when my dad said 'do you remember that Hornet car when you were a kid?'..... Now I am building a Hotshot, Novafox, Egress, Monster Beetle, Top Force (on order), and an HB D413, with eyes on other cars.... Talk about totally over the top knee jerk reaction to a simple question....
  8. That mythical, super rare car? Surely no... I heard it was only the stuff of legend..... Hilarious!
  9. Got all excited when I saw the mirrored image of the hotshot! Thought it was a new car I hadn't seen before. (Do you guys see the images mirrored above?)

  11. It was just one pass. May try another but don't want it to stick up too 'tall' off the tyre. Each tyre took about 5 or so minutes. Had to be careful dabbing the pen to control how much paint there was. Magnifier definitely recommended!
  12. So have tried my first ever tyre lettering. Mixed results I think. I went for two options 1. PC-1 Tamiya paint (from Tamiyabugstuff - thanks mate, top drawer). 2. TyrePen by Tyre Art, sources of Amazon. I went with option 2 first. Was quite good in that the fine point allowed me to pick out the edge of the lettering. Depending on the distance viewed, it's either quite nice (far away) or a little rough looking (close up). Here's a pic: Will have a scratch at it with a pin when it's dried to see if I can remove some of the rough bits. Will try option 1 soon.
  13. Reading the Novafox instructions, it recommends using Tamiya Instant Cement for the front rubber tyres (not the rears however). A couple of issues: 1. I can't seem to find the product pictured. 2. There are other Tamiya CA glues out there, but they don't look the same, so am not sure if it's the same product but packaged differently with different applicators. 3. Alternatives: when researching the internet I can't get a straight answer on suitable alternatives. Some threads seem to indicate that superglue is perfect for bonding the rubber tyre to the wheel. Others suggest using silicone sealant instead. What's the best product / method? Thanks
  14. Great. Have ordered a tester and battery pack, looks to be very useful. Thank you.
  15. Thank you guys for the responses. Very helpful. The cars / chassis I am building are all re-re, they're the NovaFox, Hotshot, Egress and Monster Beetle. The servo tester sounds like an interesting proposition, will check it out. Hmmm... order online and wait for batteries, receivers and transmitters to arrive, or just get building..... the agony of choice thanks.
  16. I notice in the Tamiya instruction booklet that when installing the servo, it recommends that the transmitter and receiver need to be powered on to ensure the servo is installed in the neutral position when installing it Is is this absolutely required? Was planning on building a few cars first with the servos installed, but buy the batteries, receivers and transmitters later. Any advice? Cheers!
  17. Thanks all for the replies, very useful. Yes am UK based.
  18. Hi all, I see a wide range of prices for ball race bearings - £10 from modelsport to £5 from other outlets. Where is the best place to buy from, and which brand / type is the best?
  19. Thanks lads. Paint! Ok, had assumed this was Lexan, and painted from inside. Have now seen some build logs showing the sanding and painting process. I like the look of Yellow or Black for the MB. Yes Biz, the Blitzer Beetle body is yummy ....
  20. Sorry if this comes across as a stoopid noobo question, but given that the body seems to come in red, how do people create different colour bodies for the MB? What's the technique? Thanks.
  21. Just got one from Tamico.... couldn't resist at the deal price. Always thought I was a buggy man but something about the MB has been gnawing away at me for the last few weeks... it's beautiful, especially when seen in motion. I have a lot of cars I'm 'about to start building' now...
  22. Very interesting topic. Is it recommended to sand or dremel the edges, once cut? If so, what's the best technique - what sort of sand paper, and what's the best dremel tool type and tool head to be used? Thanks
