  1. I used to enjoy getting the annual Tower catalog, but they discontinued it and only send quarterly small catalogs. Are there any hobby stores that still make or send product catalogs that I can order?
  2. Just got this yesterday! Built a re-re Lunch Box, TT-02 Subaru Impreza Monte Carlo, and a DT-03 Racing Fighter. A re-re Frog is after this one, and then maybe a re-re Wild One or Fighting Buggy.
  3. Funny, I was actually looking at either a re-re Wild One or the 2014 Fighting Buggy kit, but the latter is a bit more expensive, but also has metal parts and the cool shock "oil tank" haha. On the subject of the "oil tank" that sits on the rear of the Fighting Buggy , is this only for looks, or does it actually serve a good purpose? Seems like an odd design for a single oil filled shock absorber. The Wild One has a different chassis and gearbox from the othe models I have, so it might be a good kit for me to build in the future. I am trying to stay away from bulding kits with the same chassis design, but instead finding which cars/trucks I like best in each chassis. Not too into on road racers, but more off road vintage re-re buggy or truck. Any input on the mentioned above buggys is appreciated.
  4. Thank you both for the info! I think I will keep it stock other than a Sport Tuned motor to replace the kit provided, and wait for things to break and replace. I'm about to start the Hornet re-re this week. Got a Lunch Box as a gift in 2016, and have already completed a Racing Fighter DT-03, and the Subaru Impreza TT-02 since then. After the Hornet assembly will be the Frog, and I think I will be done for a while ;).
  5. Hello, I have a re-re Frog ordered, but couldnt find any official Tamiya Hop-Ups for it listed on the Tamiya website, or in parts listed at Tower. Did Tamiya make any official Hop-Ups for this or the Blackfoot with the identical chassis? I see AM Pro on Shapeways has some printed stuff like front arms (those broke on my original Blackfoot all the time), but I was looking to see if Tamiya made any. Also, any recommended upgrades for the Frog chassis (other than the obvious bearings) would be appreciated. Waiting to finish the Hornet I just recieved, but wanted to have some parts ordered and ready for the Frog build. Thank you
  6. Hello, I own the Tower Hobbies 224 radio, and the receiver part number was LXXLR4, but is no longer available from them. I know the radio is compatible with Tactic brand, but wanted to know which Tactic receiver will bind with the Tower Hobbies 224 radio. Do you know if the Tactic TR324 receiver will work, as it appears to be the same as the old Tower LXXLR4 receiver? Thanks, Jason
  7. Hello, Just received the TT02 Subaru Impreza Monte Carlo 99 #58631, and wanted to be sure the bearing list below is accurate for all of the needed bearings before I start the build. Can anyone confirm the below is correct? Thanks in advance! 2 5x11mm Spur Gear 2 5x11mm Driveshaft 2 8x12mm Differential 2 5x10mm Front Uprights 2 5x10mm Rear Uprights
  8. wow, i think i figured out that my tires after a few runs on a dusty baseball field started slipping on the rims causing my "gearbox" issues haha. glue is drying now!
  9. Hello, I built a re-release Lunch Box over the winter, and noticed it wasnt doing wheelies like I rememeber my old one easily pulling off. It moves forward and in reverse fine, but I noticed that if I put the tires down hard by pressing down on the rear, the motor will spin, but the tires wont, and the motor doesnt stall. I can stall my motor on the Racing Fighter I have, but its also a different gearbox. I pulled the motor thinking the grub and gear were slipping on the motor shaft, but everything is good. Did I maybe install one of the gears in the gearbox wrong? Its odd because the axles turn opposite like they should when lifted with no power, and like I mentioned the forward and reverse work fine, but there is no torque at the wheels to even pull off a wheelie. The hubs are tight to the axles, so thats not the issue either. Could I have the differential gear (the one with the three small gears) flipped or something? That seems to be the only gear I can see where you could mistakenly install wrong and still get the gearbox together. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Something I did forget to mention, is that gravel loves getting jammed up in the dogbones and the rear arms. I tend to not run in gravel because of this and the annoyance of un-jamming tiny gravel with a small screw driver to get the rear suspension moving its full motion and freely again.

nice post, and good idea, ill try the heavier oil and see how it handles the rear

Simple question....what size rear and front tires fit the stock rims, and any recommendations? Since I built mine in February, the rears are already bald from pavement to dirt bashing (only had a chance to take it out a few times this winter). BTW this kit was easy and fun to build, the car is fun to drive, and it seems very durable so far. The only hop-ups were the carbon fiber front shock tower, aluminum battery bar, and aluminum servo mount. All unecessary, but more for looks. The only flaw I seem to notice with the whole kit, is the rear could bottom out hard (especially on pavement) and crack the chassis where the gearbox is mounted. I have been extra careful with drops or jumps on hard surfaces, as it seems this could be a weak spot. I may put some rubber spacers on the rear shocks to prevent this down the road. Has anyone had any issues with weak spots in the chassis, or parts more prone to breaking on this chassis?
  13. are the tower hobbies 3000mah nimh packs any good just for bashing? they are cheap compared to other brands, and was curious about who actually manufactures them and if they are decent. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXULN4&P=7
