Ahhh, long post gone awol. Lets start again. @WillyChang Got a few belts here, so will have to see. There's also a belt supplier very close to me - used them before. I'm surprised you haven't just got it made up at a machine shop. Shouldn't be expensive. Of course, always use new balls and correct lube, . That sound wrong. Still think my option will be smoother. So you have buggy's too? With regards to shocks, 5mm is a considerable amount. It's a little too late for now, as shocks and mount has already been ordered. If worst comes to worse, then I'll just use original mount. I've offered up the shell and it looks like it will fit. So it looks like I've got to buy some new tools as well. I have seen these, but was unsure as to which one. @svenb Thanks for posting, pretty car. For me, I'm removing blue from part, black and silver theme, probably run Aramid belt. Don't know why I brought the blue belt. @Mokei Kagaku Are you a trader, do you have TA03 parts available?

Made a body booboo, any tips on how to fix?

, I know I don't have the patience for T Body Cleaner. -
I'm just OCD, with regards to matching motors. Yep, you sure do love em, they look uber clean. That explains why the parts were difficult to get hold of. I have to say, the only shaft driven car that's caught my attention was the Awesomatix A700 series. I will have...one one day.

Multiple cars, one radio transmitter / controller
M 800STD replied to ALEXKYRIAK's topic in All things electric...
@GooneyBird I've had Tx Backup Failure and, in boats, I have seen signal loss many times. I need to update my radio set, Spektrum never made the short list for the above reasons. Never had any issues with Futaba or JR, also I prefer stick opposed to wheel. -

I have zero faith in Spektrum and currently hunting for a Futaba system. Or I'll use my old JR system. -

After watching that, I saw a few more and it would appear that high nitro content fuel works best. The only other comment is that they all turn the polycarbonate translucent. Does the Tamiya solution have the same clouding effect? -
@svenb , thanks, what a donut. This all started over 15 years ago with a new, £169.99, TA03F Pro. I then quickly purchased lots of Hop-Ups. Now I'm just replacing some parts and Hopping it up a little more, ready for use. Doing this so many years later has proven to be a very expensive exercise, having to purchase, "Vintage" parts and paying shipping from multiple locations. Oh well, it's nearly over - yeah right, still need electrics and want a new radio. I've also got a, NIB, CLK GTR body set to finish it off - just not sure what decal set I'll use. Can't wait to see it finished. Any pics of your?

, I try not to but it's a losing battle each day. Unfortunately they did not state what size they were, just their purpose.

Just a little, or is it a by product of generic car/parts? Still gets me when you roll chassis forward and belt goes the other way. It's a shame you didn't have matched motors, but as a hobby I know this can get very expensive when chasing perfection. That's a really cool pic! Yeah that's what I was getting at, twin motors and with those wheels, must thrown the gearing right out. I have to admit I do like over powering my toys. Got a TF-3, NIB, that will be powered by 3 or 4s depending on belt reliability. Anyway the extra weight usually helps. I would have never had thought that those parts would be difficult to track down, why is this - aren't their products readily available?

I'll probably just buy a piece of foam and custom shape it to the shell. What does LHS stand for? If not specific to TA03, is the pack contents the same and what's the part number please? To me bubbles in dampers is not right. Whilst we're chatting about this, I've always built my dampers without a damper bubble remover tool. Do you use one and can you suggest a decent one? To prevent an over increase in ride height, I'll be using the tuned spring set. This should compensate for the length. Right now the car has a brushed motor up front, blue springs on stock shocks with 2mm spacer and it's sitting a little too low. Fingers crossed it'll work out. Just the perfect place to keep small parts. It may sound silly but I like that the part description is printed on the lid. Hmmm, fully tighten. My intensions was to make each diff as smooth and free as possible. To me the ball diffs never felt this way, hence my dislike for them and they can go out of tune. Also the diffs would be a lighter rotating mass, if not in ball spec. I will re-build the ball diffs and have a feel at bench before I decide. Finally, with a brushless set-up, I was thinking either 17 pulley, front and rear, or with a 16 on front pulley. We'll see.

I also need to remove paint from pretty much the whole shell. Have seen on Tube people using brake cleaner. So has anyone tried this or could comment on this method? Just looking for a method that would yield the best results. -
@Wooders28 That's good to hear, not the lack of sleep. Not sure if the mini darts are 2.2. I got my Shoe Goo from UK vendor on Bay. @WillyChang I use to use a dilute soap solution to be able to manipulate a/the product, but yeah, a lot less messy.

Yep. Bargain is an understatement, so rare. I did see a really beaten up 959 shell selling for about $300 not too long ago. I'm sure they commanded a higher price, when new.

I was on a JP yahoo site of sorts and came across a TA03F Pro with gold coloured lower arms. I just started dribbling. They were so sculptured, couldn't see makers name -****! I also have plenty of plastic parts, F+R gear boxes, J parts - the now expensive bits. I've noticed this but don't think they did produce more. To me there has not been enough to suggest a re-release of these parts. I could be wrong. I secured the chassis plates for $80, delivered which wasn't bad. Whilst doing searches for parts I found it a few times for reasonable money. Thankfully, there are places that still sell the parts at RRP instead of vintage prices. With regards to dampers, I have to admit I was looking at the super low friction dampers, black, but they were silly money. Then I started looking at the TRF dampers of the later kits. In the end I opted for the Fluorine dampers, like yours. I have the shafts and the bumper set. Can you get the sponge separately? Turnbuckles have been a right pain. If you have x2 spare sets up for grabs, that would be fantastic! There is a place in europe that has them at a very good price, but he refuses to sell them to me as apparently the UK is not part of Europe and he states he refuses to pay these medevil taxes. Great. The only thing I'm going to try, during the build, is geared rear diff and front one way. I just don't like those ball differentials. Oh and use low suspension mount on rear, as well as front. I do like that Parts Box, did it come full? Would love to have one.

That is so cool and on a TA03, never had thought that was under there. I was tempted at doing the twin motor thing, but never got round to doing it. 1st pic, so what pinion were you running and didn't the twin pack on one side cause problems? What did it top out at? Hopefully just wishbone damage? Was that motor damage done on 7.2v? I noticed no brushless, not a fan? That's interesting, why are you running with belt in the final pics?

@Wooders28 Congratulations. Hope all's well. Would Schumacher Mini Darts do the job?
-
@WillyChang Thanks for the explanation. I suppose when I was messing about with buggy's then went to touring cars I just didn't think or look for similarities, as they were so different compared to each other. Well that's it for me and shells. I'm just going to build the x3 shells pictured above and keep x3 1/10 cars, although I have spotted a TF-3 CLK GTR I'm tempted with - but it's finished. @firefoxussr Absolute nuisance those cars, causing congestion. They are just beautiful. Seeing them on the road is even better.

Have a look at this, ebay, then you'll know why I was kicking myself: 401259927073 I'm kicking myself right now... I can understand why he was more interested in the radio back then. I tried to do a search for one of these, 1/4 Lancia, a few years ago and found nothing apart a from promotional vid on Tube, if it's the same one. You got pics for this, would love to see it.

@oz-trash-cowboy I really wish I did do what I said I was going to do, with regards to GPM. Basically last night I made an order at dampers in haste, which I regret. I suppose I just wanted to start building and there wasn't much I could do without lower halves. @WillyChang Yep, all the important parts are long gone. I did see some interesting parts on JP websites, but my Japanese isn't that great. My German has improved though. The funny thing is my mate is commercial pilot, Captain. High prices and rare parts, what did I really expect coming to the game this late. Anyway, I have most the parts I wanted. Agree, I'm not scared in buying complete kits just for parts, most the times it works out far more cost effective. Common parts, yeah, if you know your stuff it's amazing what trouble you can get yourself out of. I have, NIB, collection of spares for the car, was trying to future proof it. I have to admit I have had poor machined rc parts from the east before and hoping that the dampers items have extremely close tolerances otherwise this would be pointless and a waste of money. Fingers crossed. Options installed circa 20 years ago: Options purchased: Still waiting on other parts.

@WillyChang What is that and purpose? That looks like a lot of fun. Any pics without shell please?

@firefoxussr Good, looks like I'll have to wait to see. I can still remember the University trip to McLaren, when they were building the F1. Just awesome and so happy to have had this opportunity. Here in Woking, the McLaren cars are quite common. See them every day, morning, noon and night. Been stuck behind this one a few times. The same car used in Top Gear. We went to M's 30th anniversary at BMW HQ and this turned up... Check out the License plate. He drove off headsets on, so loud. @WillyChang This talk about chassis lengths and the Super Ten being based on buggy dimensions have given me new inspiration. I never twigged. Thanks.

ShoeGoo is quite dense. Did it upset the balance of the wheel/tyre? I assume you did them in pairs. I've have some wheel/tyres that would be prime candidates.

Would of loved the GTR or 911 shell. There was a Porsche up for auction, very recently, NIB with finished shell - looked mint. Missed out by $20, because I was being tight! Believe, I was cursing myself for the rest of the day every time I thought about it, as it could be sitting here now. It did sell for a very fair price. Sure was some cracking stuff back then. Those *******els are just pure evil, especially the twin rotary! Only seen the 1/4 scale online, it must look so amazing in reality. I wonder how much they would change hands for? If you're looking for anything in particular (part), let me know - I may be able to help.
