Ministrone replied to tamiya monkey's topic in Meetings & Events
The next Tamiya Junkies meeting is on Sunday 30th January at the Robin Hood Raceway. For anyone not sure where to find RHR, the what three words location is ///formally.standing.crank -
Very nice, the colour scheme reminds me of my own 👍🏻
-
I was thinking it might be a re re of the Alfa Romeo 155 DTM car to go with the recent Opel Calibra TA02.
-
I hope it’s a re re of this but I doubt it will be.

Before I fit a new body on to my trusty old Lunchbox, I thought the old one needed a good run in the park.

I’m interested in what you can make out of these @TurnipJF as I’ve also ordered a set of these Banggood specials for my Clod. I’m under no illusion about the quality at this price but I plan on using the kit springs, so if I can get any form of damping, even from 4 of the 8 it should be an improvement over the kit “shocks”. Maybe 🤞🏼 -
Parts for my Bi-annual Lunchbox restoration 😃

I think the 959 is being saved for the 50th anniversary in 2026. -
Removing paint from a Clod Buster body

I don’t know about oven cleaner but I used a bottle of dettol antiseptic floor cleaner in a clear plastic bag once on a sand scorcher body. It certainly took the paint off and didn’t damage the body but the smell was horrendous. I still smell it when I look at that car -
This is something you don’t see everyday.
-
This might help too.
-
I bought the Scorched Parts inner arches for mine and glued them in with epoxy glue (Araldite). So far so good.

Tamiya Junkies Meets in South Yorkshire

The next Tamiya Junkies (winter meet) is on Saturday 27th November at Robin Hood Raceway. Two outdoor tracks, one carpet and one astro, also indoor track available if the weather is nasty. -
An F1 / Striker style body with Astute colour scheme would look like the Beatrice F1 car.
-
I can see values of the original astute and super astute rising rapidly as a result of this.
-
It’s early days but the body seems be better proportioned than the slightly dumpy looking Super Avante.
-
A lightweight TD4 with 2wd. I know nothing about it but I’m interested to find out, it looks good to me.
-
Following this thread I should change my username to LEE75. I guess you are also the the same LEE71 from the NYLOC forum. Small world.
-
I copied the Shen RC trick but used 0.2mm Tamiya shims left over from my Avante. This stopped all the annoying leaks.

Stolen from Faceache. I have no affiliation with this event but it looks as thought it could be good fun for those in the north of England. 💙❤️𝗥𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗤𝗨𝗘𝗘𝗡𝗦!❤️💙 Tuesday 12th October We know some of you enjoy building Tamiya’s, and displaying them in your man caves - I know my Gregg does! We really appreciate these fine RC models too, and would love to see them fulfilling their RC destiny by being driven around our track, in a special event on Tuesday 12th October, as support to our growing GT12 Race Night. We’re inviting you to take those queens down from their shelves, dust them off, charge their batteries, and join us for a night of parade racing! Parade Racing? - Yes! That’s simply zero contact racing, where celebrating the models comes first, before any results. We’ve popped three categories in the calendar at flatoutrc.co.uk that you can book in for now. (We’ll run categories together if appropriate based on numbers entered.) If its enjoyed, we’d be happy to offer Parade Racing monthly thereafter. Come join us, and show off those lovely pieces of kit! #fortheloveoftamiya FORCE Raceway, West Yorkshire. Just off Junction 40 M1. Find us on Google maps!
