    The "postman Brought Me" Thread

Spektrum Dx5c arrived less than 24 hours from ordering from Modelsport.co.uk after the eBay offer! First impressions are very positive, not used a steerwheel before so going to be bit of a learning curve. It's for the CR-01 to assign the rear steer to switches. Think I'll get a regular 4 channel receiver for that however and set the AVC one up in the M-06 seeing as that needs the stability control... @Badcrumble I'll keep you posted.

    Will do 👍

So, What Have You Done Today?

Took advantage of the 15% off ebay offer (powpow15 - until 20:00 UK) and ordered a Spektrum Dx5c from the Modelsport.co.uk page. Want more programming options for my CR-01 so that I can designate the rear steering to a switch. Bargain at under £100 with the AVC receiver, although I've only ever stuck to stick radios before...

Lacquered the Pumpkin I've changed to grey. Just need a thin sheet of balsa now to make and stain a wooden deck and cover all the holes! Going to use the TT-02R wheels and tyres for a more modern dropped look. Glossy 😎

Messed up a replacement wing for my Cat XLS. Tried to carefully fill the inner part of the end plate by holding the can closer... Not my finest hour! Have another one just in case I can't sort this. It may sand down to be fair. Also got the first coat of Lacquer on the Pumpkin which is coming along nicely.

Amy chance of a build thread? Much like yourself I can't decide between this or the Super Astute (and yes the correct answer is both 😁) but after the challenge that was the XLS I'm also leaning towards the Top Cat just for the more involved build, especially the lay down front with the crash back system..

Don't look at Tamico today then, they have the TXT-2 Agrios on for €277.77 as their daily special!

Re spraying the Pumpkin. Made a little Autoclave from an old box and heater, works a treat baking the paint. Went for BMW sparkling graphite which I'll lacquer as well. Just need to get some plastic card and thin strips of balsa to make and varnish a new rear deck. It's kinda holey with all the mounts cut off!

Finally got round to re-doing my Low Ride Pumpkin body. My first attempt at gloss Black "orange pealed" quite badly plus I've never really liked the rear roll bars or there associated mounts. Have sanded back the gloss and cut away the mounts but it still needs more work. Will try and make a new flat bed to cover all the holes in the rear and defiantly add some front lights.

What pitch is the pinion? Have thought about doing this but didn't know which one to get.

Converted the Rock Socker to 4ws, with the diffs locked for crawling the turning circle was akin to an oil tankers! First tried a split lead from the servo channel but that would only turn the wheels the same way as the front but luckily my Core Code transmitter allows the third channel to be mixed with the first and be reversed. Works really well, set it so that the rears only turn 50% of the fronts so that it can still be driven fairly quick without rolling... As I'd stolen the servo out of my M-06 I also popped a bog standard Futaba back into there. Love a day of productive tinkering 😁

    Buying models for imagined purposes

In response to the OP, I'll keep it simple - every single time if I'm honest with myself! Probably a case of just trying to justify another purchase when a simple life is short so do what you enjoy would suffice! Reminds me, I need another re-re 2wd because I've not got a vintage example.. Hmmm Top Cat v Astute... Here we go again!

    Schumacher Topcat Re-Release

This has gone straight to the top of my next car list. Can't wait, agree with how testing the XLS was to build (but so rewarding) but this should be much easier.

Just left them as is, with all the screws I'd have no doubt chipped the paint plus I like the black wheel look. The IXO was fine, bought the torque adapter for it and ran it with that on. Must be about 1nm on its small screw setting. I'd agree that it's not exactly speed variable!

So, What Have You Done Today?

Finished the Rock Socker, but not until after a Bosch IXO electric screwdriver was delivered for the wheels... 80 screws?! Was ten each side really necessary?! Beadlock are now not my favourite thing ever... 😋 Got a 17.5 brushless in it at the moment with open diffs. Going to go for a much higher turn and lock them for a bit of crawling I think. Happily I was able to download a crawling profile for the Reventon Speedo in it from the Speed Passion app.

So, What Have You Done Today?

Cracked on with the 'Socker, may have stayed up way to late "just to finish this step..." really impressed with it. Have only changed the link mount leverage (to use the full stroke of the damper) and zip tied the cantilevers tight to remove the slack. Just waiting on an electric screw driver for the wheels... No way I'm hand tightening 80 screws!!

Yup, both of those. Not planning on anything else but you never know! It seems really robust as is. It's a great build.

    Advice On Which Chassis Please

Think that's a standard 1/10 touring size shell so either a TT-02 or older TT-01 would work. I'd recommend the TT-02R as it comes with a few handy upgrades and as a chassis only. Also allows you to build it at two ride heights and wheel bases.

So, What Have You Done Today?

Got as far as I could with the 'Socker. Had to order another 10 1050 bearings to complete the transmission. Rc Bearings showing that they're all ready dispatched so should be here tomorrow fingers crossed. I'd already mugged bag D for a couple to finish the axles! Loving the build so far, the ability to lock and unlock the diffs via a single pin is cool as is the whole over built feel to it. Should have time over the weekend to do some more.

Top work, the twin servo solution for the steering is genius.

A couple of upgrades for my Rocksocker, bent lower arms and hardened universal shafts. Looking forward to building this, very different to anything else I've done.
