  1. You shame me sir I'm gonna go with the 7700.
  2. Another new toy, it's a TRF 418.
  3. A better battery would most likely get you there and your good with the runway bud I'm looking for my next 3s set-up and I can't decide which to go with, it's either a 6900kv or 7700kv. Both are crazy Kv for 3s but I'm just slightly concerned about the increased fireball risk with the 7700kv. My HPI RS4 on 3s with 5700Kv 48pitch 53 spur/44 pinion hit 88Mph and I don't think I have maxed it out yet so either one should be good for triple figures.
  4. Awesome work Phil and well deserved, you really have raised the bar! I doubt that my FF03 will be able to top that. I am very very jealous of your backyard runway @VagabondStarJXF Ditch the horse and cart and treat yourself to a brushless setup. Would be good to see your F201 on the board!
  5. Was thinking the same, that spot in the Video is in Seven Beech on a newish bit of the industrial estate. I'll try and do a reccy at Avonmouth and as soon the forecast good it's speed run Saturday I haven't given up on it yet I'll run it at my usual spot and see how it gets on but I'm thinking converting it to TT02s spec at the front might be the answer. I'm also running a Castle 4 pole 4600kv motor and it definitely has some oomph on 3s! Have you made any progress on the GPS problem?
  6. Mine is a V2 and I picked it up from RC Mart at a very reasonable price I added the carbon shock towers but it comes with all these goodies: M-Chassis Double-Cardan Drive Shafts (universals) M-05 Lightweight Aluminum Battery Holders (Black) Aluminum Motor Mount (Black) M-05 Aluminum Turnbuckle Steering Rod (Black) M-05Ra Chassis Uprights Hex Screws M-05 Aluminum Steering Posts (Black) M-05 Aluminum Servo Mount (Black) 54179 M-05 Ball Bearing Set 54277 M-Chassis Reinforced Gear Set 54409 3x14mm Low Friction Step Screw (4pcs.) 54613 M-05 Ver.II Stainless Steel Sus Shaft Set 54237 M-05 Low Friction King Pin (4pcs.) 54319 M-Chassis Lightweight Hollow Shaft Set 54606 M-05 Ver.II 1-Piece Lower Suspension Arm Set 51000 Hi-Torque Servo Saver (Black)
  7. The suspense has risen, I'm back out again on Saturday
  8. If you decide to go with FWD check out the M05R it has some really nice parts including a geared differential. If your interested I can post a few pics of the rolling chassis set at the 225mm wheelbase.
  9. Just down the road do you know of any good run spots ? Your welcome to come run with me and my mate at our usual spot (behind the mall) and @Catchy can't be far either if he's doing the bridge run all the time, perhaps a Bristol speed run Saturday!
  10. I sneaked out yesterday to do some runs at a new spot, the road looks awesome but it was way too dusty and didn't have enough grip for the foam tyres. The TT02 managed 55Mph with ease but it was all over the place which is most likely being caused by the significant steering slop. It's actually that bad that I'm thinking I must have missed some washers or giant shims when assembling it and it has to be sorted before I run it again. I noticed the price of the Tamiya steering set and I'm loathed to pay that as this was supposed to be my budget build. Here's a crappy video anyway, at the end you see my FF03 go past then I line it for another run and drive it full throttle into my mates Jag Not my finest moment but luckily this time I have the parts on the shelf...... maybe next time All part of the fun Do you know if I can shoe horn a gear diff in the rear and if so what parts I would need? I've been looking at your The RC Racer website it's very impressive! I actually read the 419x article before I bought it and it stopped me from buying a Schumacher at the time and now it's got me wanting a TB Evo 07. Another e-bay purchase, I need help! Should pick it up on Sunday again.
  11. Rain Got my mitts on the new toy, it's a TB Evolution IV and apart from needing a new prop shaft and a few rounded hex heads it's in remarkably good condition. I'm sure it wont stay that way for long though
  12. Of course it would be From looking at pictures it's only downside would be the battery options. I've seen another car I want, I really need to stop looking. Nice work on the PB Phil and I hope you did a FOD check The forecast here is still shocking so I doubt I'll get to run again this weekend, consider the suspense building
  13. You should have gone for a bigger pinion .... hang on are you already running the Kraken!?
  14. The shoe fits (48 pitch 55t spur with 37t pinion)
  15. That really sucks, I've been looking forward to seeing your next run. I can recommend an old Garmin Forerunner 201/301, when I got mine they were going for about £30 on flea bay. +1, Wooders for president Edit: Jason can you post an extreme close up of the connector? Normally you would be able to unclip the pins and slide them out. Found your old thread, it looks like you should be able to slide the pins out. If your stuck I could sort it out for you.
  16. I think you cracked it dude! Got my money on that beast for the first triple figure run A-Main order arrived today with some pinions for my TT02, I'll do some test fitting later and report back if the 55/36 combo works. I also bought another speed run car it's a much longer term project but with this one I'm aiming for over 100Mph. I'll pick it up on Sunday so will post some picks then. @Catchy did you mange to get a run in yet? Just noticed the abysmal forecast for the weekend! @Hyperlite Not quite what I had in mind but I like it
  17. I got it from Rc Heli Guru (www.rcheliguru.co.uk/) at an Rc air show. They don't have it listed on the website but if you email them they will probably have some left. Good luck for tomorrow dude.
  18. That looks super sweet Phil and at a very nice price! It could easily be a TT02 killer with it's open spur and pinion setup I don't think the transmitter solution will work for me as I'm having enough trouble trying to stop the potential fireball from happening . I've been meaning to look into a head mount for the go pro so If anyone can recommend a good one it would be appreciated. I'm running 48 pitch on most of my cars as there seems to be a much better selection available. I usually get them from A-main as they have lots to choose from and they ship to the UK for just $1.99. The below pic is of the 68t Tamiya 0.6 Mod next to a 66t 48 pitch, you can see it's a significant size difference! If your building a TT02 this is the 48p, 55 tooth I was referring to earlier: https://www.amainhobbies.com/robinson-racing-48p-pro-machined-spur-gear-55t-rrp1855/p463841?v=153118
  19. Thanks for the clarification Jason and I'm happy to stick with the stock cover just means the shiny thing is a little more at risk. Unfortunately my camera man hurt his back so I didn't get to run on Sunday but I did test the TT02 (48 pitch 66s/35p, 4600kv, 3s) and it was very impressive. I'm off to the F1 on the weekend and am actually a little annoyed that I'm gonna have to wait till after to run the cars There is a tiny window for Thursday so hopefully everything will align. I just fitted some semi functional bling to the shiny thing, mmm shiny thing @Phil_H chassis picture please
  20. 48 pitch 43t, it's big but the tiny spur (49t) makes it look bigger in the pic. Been playing with different gear combos and it looks like I can get a 55 spur 36 pinon to fit, I have a 35t and it's just a little too loose so ill have to wait for a new one to turn up. In the mean time I stuck a 66 spur and the 35 pinion in which will be fine for testing tomorrow. Very nice, can you post a chassis pick?
  21. You get comfortable bud I'm not winning already today the diff gear case in the FF03 has a couple of mangled teeth and is coging a little, I'm tempted to run it and see it frees up rather than waiting for RC Mart again I think I found what caused the gearbox meltdown the counter gear cracked and the pin slipped which caused it to lock up, @Wooders28 so it was just general wear and tear in the end Now the TT02. @Jason1145 the gearing I chose won't clear the cover plate without a spacer fitted, assuming I am not allowed to fit them or run without the cover altogether?
  22. Finally have all the parts to fix the FF03, @Phil_H I'm coming for you I decided to go budget with some of my TT02 upgrades and went for some Yeah racing parts, have to say there really crappy compared to Tamiya. The shocks all leaked, the drive shafts need a small mountain of shims and the steering arms have a ridiculous amount of vertical slop. I did manage to find an awesome 3s battery for it though, it's a car pack sized 4500Mah 65-130C and it fits under the standard battery brace with a 3mm spacer under the posts. If everything goes well Saturday is speed run day Third party image hosting courtesy of flickr
  23. There dead to me. I will be closing my account also.
  24. Nice track The latest model is the TRF419x and the combo will depend on the racing class. http://www.tamiya.com/english/products/42301/index.htm
  25. Thanks Phil , the e-bay link didn't work for me and I already have some Contact foams, hadn't realised that there duel compound. I also have some Matrix foams (Rc Mart) and they seem to hold up better than the Contacts. Welcome to the party, really looking forward to seeing a TRF run I still can't get past the shiny thing thing with my baby. mmm shiny thing.
