  1. I know this thread is a year old, just wanted to close it out.
  2. Wow, those look promising. Thank you for that. I’m out of “Build mode” right now as the weather is still nice. I try and do all my builds during the Winter while I’m cooped up inside. Will check back in a few months and see how we make out. Thanks again.
  3. Been slowly working on the interior. The helmet is almost done, just have to do the pupils and a wash over everything. Won’t be long now.
  4. Thanks speedy. Finished up the shell tonight and started on the interior. Using a standard touring interior. Shot a few coats of flat clear and colored in the panel lines. I really like how it came out, I’m not much for the shiny poly bodies. Had to hack up the rear of the interior to fit over the body mounts and rear shock tower. With some paint it will look much better, stay tuned.
  5. Finished the front end up tonight. Lots of shoe goo and drywall tape. I finally found some screen that looked somewhat scale for the lower cooling inlet holes. Regular house window screen just didn’t look right. This screen is spark arrestor screen from a chainsaw exhaust. We could probably buy it for cheap on eBay if anyone else wanted to try this. I secured it with shoe goo. Tomorrow will be a few coats of ps55 flat clear.
  6. I shimmed some of the slop out, but there is still some in there. I wanted to make sure there was no binding in case dirt got in. I will be driving this in parking lots and such. I see you’re from Eindhoven, beautiful town. My friends and I would drive over from Germany to go to the bar district. It was a bit of a drive though, so we didn’t go as much as we would have liked. That was a loooong time ago though
  7. Yup, same stuff you get in the drywall dept. I cut small strips, smeared some shoegoo on the body, then bedded the tape in the goo, and finally put another thin layer of goo over the bedded tape.
  8. Got the body all shoe goo and drywall taped up. Should last awhile.
  9. Got the body mounts done tonight. Settled on a body height, still need to straighten the rear swing arms though. I will be using shoe goo and drywall mesh to stiffen up this paper thin body. Stay tuned.
  10. Front and back magnetic mounts installed. I had to reposition the rear mount to get it to clear the rear window. I’m still working on getting the body down lower, I just don’t think I can get there with these style mounts though. Thinking I may soften the suspension to allow some droop. Maybe add another spacer inside the damper to restrict downward movement. Does anyone know how to remove this ridiculous rear wheel toe in? I know it is great for handling qualities, but I’m more concerned with scale looks. Is there a way to straighten the arms out somehow?
  11. Thank you, I’m trying to get back on it. Mother in law is in town, have to keep the peace
  12. Is this a Tamiya hop up part? Do you happen to know the part number?

  14. That’s a great idea! Hmmmm...Ampro, you listening? Got the grill stickered up, painted, and weathered.
  15. I’m rethinking my desire to put lights in this kit. I just don’t know if it will look good after all my hacking and gluing on the front grill. There will be safety tape over the headlight lense anyway, like this. Just not sure all the work is worth it.
  16. Wanted to take a poll on wheel nut choices. I know it’s kind of hard to decide without the body on yet, so you will have to use your imagination. First up is just a plain thin nut. Next is the standard Tamiya wheel nut. Next is an offering from yeah racing that kind of looks like a castle nut. Last one is that same nut in black. I still haven’t decided yet, I’m leaning towards the black ones though.
  17. Brake rotors painted and ready for install.
  18. Chassis is almost done. Dampers and electronics installed.
  19. Chassis is almost done. Yeah racing steering kit installed. Turnigy metal gear servo installed. Even with all this and lots of shims, the steering and suspension still have a ton of slop
  20. Put tow hooks on the front and back corners.
  21. Finishing up the chassis. Installing the duratrax 19t photon motor. The motor and heat sink installed. The frame halves joined. Lots of shims needed on the rear suspension arms.
  22. Finished up the gearbox with aluminum bits and bearings.
  23. Finished fabbing up some wipers so I could ditch the kit supplied decals. These were from a touring car kit on ebay that I heated, bent, and shaped. I will paint these flat black, although I know they would have been chrome on the classic. Also made a blood letting sacrifice to the Tamiya Gods tonight. This should ensure a problem free initial run and show my sincere dedication to the hobby! These cheap snap off blade knives are no joke!
  24. Just about done putting all the decals on. It was very tedious, but gratifying. I see what everyone says about the edges lifting, these decals don’t seem to stick as well as other kits I’ve built. My solution was to heat them to the point of almost melting with a hairdryer and conform them around whatever shape they were laying over. So far they are staying put. Also received some goodies in the mail so I can finish the chassis up. Will continue the body in a few days, I’m waiting on another package from MCI racing.
  25. Just wanted to check one last time if anyone had seen decals like this for our 1/10 or 1/12 cars? These seem like they would work well in our hobby.
