  1. That’s a bummer, wish I would have known that
  2. Willy, It was from a Japan distributor. Would they have opened the box and taken it out? My box was opened by someone before it was mailed to me. The sales literature did not say one was not included, and I was going off of what the tamiya site said was included.
  3. That’s what I thought. I’m going to lodge a complaint, a new speed control is like $30!
  4. Looking for ideas on adding lights to the body. The tail lights are pretty easy, I just won’t paint the body underneath the decal and let the light shine through. The front is going to be more difficult as the grill is a solid piece. Was thinking I could Dremel out the middle of the light and use the correct size cold medicine blister pouch glued in from behind. I could then use another blister painted silver for a reflector with the led in it. Does anyone have a tried and true method they could share?
  5. Does anyone know if this kit is supposed to come with a speed control? I’m reading conflicting info whether it does or not. On the Tamiya site and on towerhobbies it says it does come with one, but on the box, and in the directions it says it doesn’t. When I received my box in the mail the shrink wrap was removed and there was no tape sealing the bottom of the box to the top of the box.
  6. Well, well, well...look who showed up today
  7. Expecting my Alfa kit any day now. My hop up parts have already arrived, can’t wait to get started. Some more motivational pics. https://postimg.cc/image/k33hbv3np/][/url] I like this paint scheme best. Super detailed, I believe a few of these are diecast kits though.
  8. That was exactly what I did for my rally build...minus the cool lathe work...lol.
  9. I saw those ones too. They look a lot like the stock rims that come with the kit. I’ll probably end up painting the stock rims to get rid of the shiny plastic look. Can’t wait to start.
  10. In the preliminary planning stages of an M06 Alfa Romeo Giulia cup racer build. A few pics for motivation. The below pic is the paint scheme I will be shooting for. It will be British racing green and white though, just for something different. I really like the mag wheels on this one. Does anyone know of anything available that looks like these? I want to do mag rims in a gold anodized look. I’ve scoured eBay and a few online retailers, but have come up empty handed. Another shot of the paint and rims. Not sure I will do a racing stripe though. I have already located a decal sheet through MCI racing. Want to try and fab up a lighting kit . Bearings, and some scale exterior bits for them body. Wish I could get my hands on a M06 Pro kit, that would be sweet. Stay tuned, everything is in the mail!
  11. Wait...really? If I take it out will it increase steering throw? Fabbed up a dual stinger type exhaust tonight. This was the look I was going for: Here is what I came up with. Im debating detailing the trunk area along the lines of something like this: I think that looks awesome, but it would take some serious work as there is not much room in the trunk area...decisions...decisions.
  12. I used a light coat of Tamiya flat ps-55 on the outside of the shell. Then used various washes, light brown, light green, and finally black. Also used some light weathering pastels, followed again by a light coat of ps-55 clear.
  13. Thank you, looking forward to my next one
  14. My next project will be an M06 cup racer.
  15. Just wanted to update this thread. Finally got around to doing the interior with the Tamiya rally cockpit. It fit amazingly well and required very little trimming. I cut out the tint on the side windows for better visibility. All that is left is to install an exhaust pipe of some kind. Have one on the way in the mail. After adding a bit of weight to the front end and playing with the springs, she is a blast to drive.
  16. Thank you. I was just copying other great builders on this and other forums. Understood about the battery placement. The bounciness of the rear was driving me crazy. I used the red (Soft) shock oil and damper disk with three holes in it. I first tried the soft barrel springs, but the rear sagged too much. The medium springs solved that problem, but it was still a little bouncy. Adding stick on weights, and moving the battery helped a bunch.
  17. Did you figure out your rear suspension stiffness issue? I used the same shocks and medium springs too. I found placing the battery towards the rear helped me some.
  18. Had the first run yesterday and was very impressed...it's fast!...really fast...too fast! The scale looking tires don't really offer enough traction on dirt surfaces which cause the car to slide around a lot. I've added 4oz of weight to try and help with this. I'm also going to drop the pinion down a tooth or two because the speed is crazy. The suspension was good, maybe a little hoppy, but not bad. Going to play around with some different springs and see if that helps. Ground clearence was fine, no problems there. I did get some stones stuck in the steering which jammed it, but it happened only once. Going to try and put some more foam in there. The servo saver is slipping so I'm going to plastic weld it together. I have a steel gear high torque servo, so I'm not too worried about damage. Overall I'm really impressed. Watching her slide around corners was great fun, going to really enjoy this car.
  19. Turns out there was no resistor installed. The lighting kit I was using had small resistors soldered in line just before the led, they were so small I didn't even see them until after I burnt out the first led. Once I figured that out I was able to sort things and get her up and running. They look wonderful when all lit up. I think this car really needs a cockpit to make her shine, any suggestions? I finished up the last few details today. I had to cut the front foam bumper a little bit to avoid the over size tires tires from hitting it at full lock. Also had to trim the body a hair around the front wheels to avoid rubbing when at full lock and the suspension in travel. It wasn't much and is not noticeable. Cant wait to get her out for the first run, raining today though.
  20. So close to being done. Got the light pods on and wiring done. As you can see in this last shot I have a headlight problem. I soldered on some new led's because the other ones were bright blue. I thought the resistor from the old light would work with the new one, but guess not.
  21. First round of weathering complete and bumpers installed. You can see the grill installed here. It doesn't look great, but much better than the decal supplied. I'm working on the lights tonight after the kids are in bed. Have to do some soldering. Any recommendations on wheel nuts? Im not crazy about the stock ones. Suppose I could just paint them I guess.
  22. Got the body mounts installed today. Surprisingly easy to install. Installed the windshield wipers. I had to trim them down a bit to keep them in scale, but I think they look great. The windows masked off for wiper marks prior to a light weathering.
  23. Got my new tires in the mail. As you can see they are a bit larger than the old ones. They even have a bit of a bulge in the sidewall like the tires of that day did. The tread is much more scale also. These have more of a snow tire look. I did a test fit with the body and they are a perfect size. They may be a hair big, but they look much more scale than the old ones which were too small and didn't fill out the wheel well. I also hit the body with a light coat of flat clear to prepare for weathering.
  24. Got most of the decals on. Was happy to see the window decals were a tint color like my CC01 Bronco. I had read somewhere they were a solid color and was going to cut them out if they were. I customized some of the decals and locations, but overall a box art type scheme. Still have a few more to go, then the bumpers and grill go on.
  25. OK, using photo bucket now. The hood and rear tail light surround painted on the outside. The adjustable steering links installed.
