  1. Hello Everyone. The time has come for me to move on to other things. I'm in quite a few FaceBook groups, that are more suited to what I'm doing now. I very rarely "just build a kit", to me it's just a box of bits to do something with. I have noticed that my more home-made creations do not raise much attention but a step-by-step build with every conceivable blue bit will have many pages of conversion. Please don't think I'm being petulant or bitter about this, it's just that my builds are becoming far more scratch built, with very few Tamiya parts involved. That's not really what a Tamiya Club is about. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ I'd like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of the people that have helped, advised and generally shoved me in the right direction. It will all be permanently appreciated. TC is also responsible for hooking me up with a great basher buddy in @martinjpayne, a great guy who is even more anal and OCD than I am. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Before I finish my blathering.... Of course, as with any situation in life, there was just one incident that left a rather sour taste in my mouth. To you @super gripper, my DT03 is just fine with the rear sway bar that you ordered me not to fit. Having worn a beret during the Falklands conflict (it was a war Mrs Thatcher), I can guarantee you that I have shot far more people than I want to remember. I've also seen far more dead and injured from two missile-hit RFAs, than you will ever see. Unlike you, I do not feel the need to massage my ego to others, or to use it as a justification for a complete lack of manners and common decency to others. Thanks everyone, may all your Tamiya dreams come true. (23 SASR)
  2. This eBay coupon is news to me, how does that work?
  3. More Ratus Stinkious Non-vegeous. Body reinforcement. Custom front and rear body mounts. All I need now is some big fat anti-roll, stabilisation bar things. Man, they sure do look puuuurdy. ๐Ÿ˜‚
  4. Yeah, what you said, it sounds more like witchcraft. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ™„ Yes thanks, I can do the switch bit. ๐Ÿ‘
  5. Your mission, should you choose to accept it is.... There should be another of those clicky switch pads, in the rectangle where I've put the black dot. You press the scroll wheel down to select (or not). My intention was to fit an external push switch to the casing and solder wires to it. Having looked at it, that's beyond my eyesight, never mind my soldering. ๐Ÿ˜– I've mislaid the little black bit that keeps the scroll wheel spindle in place but I can make something for that.
  6. That's jolly decent of you, thankyou. I'll load some pics to imgur later and show you. ๐Ÿ‘ Where are you?
  7. I have them, they won't stop a lipo hard pack from sliding. I wondered if there were end plates that would go on, like TA models.
  8. I thought you meant sort them in colour order! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ
  9. My GT3-C TX has packed up. Under the menu scroll wheel, there's a microscopic little pad switch, which selects from the menu when you push it down. I tried to remove it and solder two wires to the terminals but that just removed the track from the PCB, so it's in the bin. I've worked out a few options, so I'd appreciate some opinions, because I don't have much cash floating around. I've also used up the ten model pre-sets. 1. Forget running cars for a while and save up for the new GT5, which has twenty model pre-sets. Unfortunately, the receivers I have are for AFHDS. The new unit operates on AFHDS-A2, so I would also have to change all 11 of my receivers at ยฃ15 each. 2. Buy another GT3-C to get me going again for ยฃ45. Then put any new cars on a GT5 later, as well as moving the better faster cars across. 3. Same as 2, but buy the older GT3-B with the different scroll and click system, for ยฃ30, hoping it will be more reliable while I save my pennies. 4. Same as 2 or 3, but slowly change to a different make. As I'm on disability benefits, this would have to be just the next step up in quality, otherwise it'll never happen. 5. Temporarily run cars on my FlySky i6X sticks that I use for boats, while I save for either the GT5 or another make. 6. Any other blatantly obvious solutions that I've completely missed. Thanks awfully. ๐Ÿ‘
  10. The MF01X is pretty pricey as well, considering you only get pogo sticks with it, not even friction damping. Licensing fees again I presume. However, it would be a good base for an Old Skool or Cal-Looker. Once you match the headlamps and bumper for any given year.
  11. Then it would steer like a fork- lift truck. ๐Ÿ˜‚
  12. I hadn't thought of that one, I'd be interested in hearing views. I wouldn't go for the aluminium kit though, one run in the gravel and it'll look terrible.
  13. Kool. I live to tinker. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿค“
  14. Sooooooo.... You quite like it then? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ I look forward to building mine. ๐Ÿ˜
  15. That's my understanding of it as well. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚
  16. That's a cool video, I must have missed that one. The long shock towers let you fit the same 70mm ish shocks that fit the front of DTs and TT02B. I think they're mini-shocks but I could be wrong? Usually it takes the next size down, I think super-minis, around 62mm. It doesn't make a huge difference but gives the car a more realistic look when it corners and stops and starts, together with a bit more scope for adjustments...... .....I think.
  17. It's one of these. It has the high speed gear set in it (68t) but only 19t pinion, so it's very undergeared. I think we clocked it at 28mph. I purposely started low and used an adjustable motor mount, so I can monitor the speed difference as I change the pinion. I've fitted a 21t pinion now, which @martinjpayne calculates to be worth about 33mph but we haven't tried it yet. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F282956835408
  18. I meant Asterion type truck but not that body. I think the body will be dictated by the suspension movement when it's done. There's a couple of Asterion videos on YouTube that look like that have F1 suspension, a truck bouncing over little pebbles just looks wrong. Another thought was to make a rally car but set up for a tarmac stage, perhaps in a Pikes Peak style. However it turns out, it's too nice to beat the underneath to death, an XV chassis is around ยฃ18 compared to ยฃ8 ish for a TT02. I've found some hop-up parts from a Hong Kong seller but it's still a money thing. The first decision is to build it with the nylon diff gears and change them if they break or change to metallic bits first.
  19. I'll be starting my build thread soon. I've bought the carbon long damper towers for it. I'm searching for the blue bits to make it a Pro but I'm still undecided about the body, although I might make it a scale truck, just to be different. I probably won't make up my mind until the last minute.
  20. TT02 Lancia on 2s. Driver - @martinjpayne.
  21. I built my TT02 Lancia purely because I saw the Fiat 131 belonging to @martinjpayne. It's my first rally car and I really like it. I had heaps of TT parts from the buggies, so it was a natural progression. I did buy a handful of hard white chassis plates when they were still available, so I expect that makes them handle better. You'd need a wrench and vice to bend one. I expect I'll do a black basher rally car, a drift and touring car TT02 as well, mainly because I can afford the parts. Did I mention that I like TT02s? They do make good missiles! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Photos of DF03Ra Fiat 131 and TT02 Lancia.
