Yikes! I had no idea on the condition of this thing. Like I said I just bought the 2 buggies to help someone out. I never got to even try to run either of them. G.S. I'll send you something to make up for it not being completely on the up and up.

To be honest with you, I'm thinking about doing another one. It would be a Grateful Dead hippy tie dye bus. Also although it would be expensive, I'd need to find either a Jerry Garcia or Cheech & Chong plush figures to be the drivers for it. IT WOULD BE GROOVY!!! -lol I do have a painting tip to share on this body. The included window masks are printed bigger than the actual windows. So you have to cut them to fit, which is tough to get your hands in there to place them accurately. Then I hand painted the silver stripe on mine. But if I had to do it again, I'd had used blue painters tape and sprayed them. I'm also going to play around with hand painting the window frames on mine. But I have to do more testing on this Tamiya paint to know how to do that. Beyond the above, I won an ebay auction for some new old stock parts. They are mostly Traxxas stuff for my relative. But a couple Tamiya bits for me were mixed in.

I caved and had to tryout the VW before installing the decals. The little guy is pretty fun to drive. Everyone who seen it had to come up and share their VW stories with me. My "plum crazy purple" turned out more of a dark blue. But the little bus sure looks good either way!

There seems to be a lot of UK guys on this forum. I would think you could get together with some of those guys in order to make any metal Clod parts that you need. None of the after market Clod parts are truly difficult to fabricate. Well the exception would be the aluminum gear boxes. But you can still get the axles housings, which are the important part of that upgrade. ~ Get the fellas together, make some parts, drink some beers, post some pictures of your mad creations! -lol

I own a set of these from ESP. They are simply aluminum plates that lift the chassis up. They work great on stock and modified Clods. Plus as advised above you can make them very easily.

Its awesome to see someone restore one of these! I had one as a teenager. But mine had a rough life, as I launched it off a loading dock at speed. Which as you could guess, broke it in half. But it was a fun car prior to my Evil Kenevil teenage antics! -lol

I'm glad you can't buy me that beer! I'm a total beer snob, and only drink wussy light beer. But I am glad that you like the car. I only bought these cars to help someone who's having health issues. So I literally had no plans to do anything with them, beyond dumping them on ebay. So its way better that they went to people who will use them.

There's others on ebay that include wheels. Also Imex still has some wheels on their website. But me, I would likely use HPI universal wheels for these. Well if I had a need for them...

That's the problem that I have. I never had a smart phone back then. So every old picture is a scan job. Plus back then the old 35mm took lousy pictures when the cars were going 35mph! (-lol) But everyone loves seeing these old pictures. Hopefully some of the other guys have some to share, because these are wonderful.

A while back I mentioned that I purchased a bunch of stuff to make a light up drone track. Well every year a group of RC guys have an airplane themed event in Hermann MO. So there's an assortment of real airplanes, and RC's flying around. Here's a few picture's from that yearly event:

I scanned a couple prehistoric pictures of my race trucks from many years ago. They are Traxxas Blue Eagles (which I still have) and a Traxxas Hawk (long gone). I also still have a Traxxas Sledgehammer, and a Traxxas TRX-1 buggy. How about you guys, do you have any old RC pictures to share? (that don't fit into the above forum topics)

I cut out the window decals for the VW. I finally understand why others have said it takes SO LONG to paint one of these! I can't believe they don't come pre-cut... what an ugly process. Later today I'll wipe it down again, then apply these critters before throwing the white on the top half. I hope the white turns out as good as the purple has. Then in another day I'll be (fingers crossed) done with painting the inside, so I can begin painting the outside of the body.

If this truck doesn't inspire you, nothing will !!! -lol Its the craziest RC truck that I've ever seen.... (Yes I realize that this is an old post. But I was searching for somewhere to share this image link.

The crazy part with those trucks was that they are a pan car chassis with monster truck tires glued on pan car rims. I would imagine they would be stupid fast. But obviously pretty limited in how you could drive them since the suspension is more like a formula one car than a monster truck should have. I'll clean it up and throw some pic's on here for those who have never seen one. But this baby is ebay bound! -lol

Here's my Ramblin Ron from back in the 80's. I painted him when I was like 11 or 12 years old. He's looking pretty good for spending his free time sliding around in the bottom of my tackle box! -lol I'll buy him a new Blackfoot to pilot after I get done with my wheelie collection.

Can you post a link? What have I done today? I taped and put the first color on my VW body. I should have the second color sprayed in a couple days. For me, the window taping was the worst part thus far. But I'm happy with the results.

I loved the one that I had back in the 80's. The only problem that I ever had was with the steering servo gears getting eaten. Beyond that it was awesome. I plan to buy another in the future. But after I finish buying my wheelie collection. I still have my original driver from my Blackfoot! I'll have to get a picture for the Willy driver topic! -lol

My father owns an assembled but never driven Bolink Invader Monster Truck. The body has never been painted. But has been cut out to fit on the chassis. I don't think that he has the original box anymore. But I do think he might still have the decal set to go with it. I'd have to check. I'm considering putting it on ebay since he's never done anything with it all these years. I don't think that they've made these in more than a decade. I'm not trying to sell it here. But what do you guys think this truck is worth?

I own 6 or more of each brand. I prefer the HK ones, as they are a bit higher quality. But they both drive stock RC's pretty good. Understand we are not talking about expensive name brand speed controllers. These are cheap, but functional. I've used MS Word to print lettering on paper in black to get the font correct. Then used tracing paper to transfer them on a poly body. Then lastly hand painted them on the body. So if you get stuck, this is an option.

I shipped out the Optima to G.S. yesterday, so its making the long trek across the pond to a new home. Today I changed the plugs on a bunch of cheap-o speed controllers from ebay. For those who don't know you can get brushed speed controllers on ebay for $6 USD. They are not the best, and they only work with stock or mild motors. But who cares for $6! -lol Lastly I bought another can of paint for my VW body.

I worked on a relatives Traxxas trucks today.

Depending on where you buy them, Kongs mostly come with the rims. But you can buy just the tires if you shop around. You also need offset spacer hexes to mount them.The axles are larger diameter made by Imex, in cnc cut aluminum housings. Yes they do sell the whole axles in aluminum. But some gear sets won't clear them. I kept the stock center housings on the axles to clear the steel gears, since the aluminum housings wouldn't clear. One thing you will find is that there are a giant amount of Clods parts. But not every part directly works with the other brands. So there's always a bit of trial and error. I floated my Bullhead back when it was stock. Well without the body. (I always hated the ugly Bullhead body.) As long as you don't hammer the throttle, it will float in water. But nailing the gas can make it flip over. I never sealed anything on it, I just set it in the water. I've never tried the Kongs. But l assume they would float better.
