I tried it once, and all it did was strip the paint off. Once the paint is off the velcro sticks real good, but then all you notice is the velcro. To each their own, but I prefer the pins. I run the small pins when racing to reduce them coming out during a crash.

I drive through Ferguson to go and visit the in laws in Ohio. My mom lives in Nevada, MO. Will be in a pretty big hurry this year though, have to make it to OH in quick time.
Check the highways before you come through as there's road construction on I70 in a few places. They've been doing a good job at doing most of their work at night so as to not fubar the traffic.

I have a Pumpkin/Box suspension mod to share that isn't on this forum yet. For those who retain their stock shocks. But are seeking better handling than stock.
Starting with the rear shocks, measure and record the top of the shock body, and cut it off flush on the top side of the spring retainer on the shock body's. Then use that measurement to mark the top of the front shocks, and cut off the tops of the front shocks to match the rears.
Next you want to assemble the shocks with 2 other minor changes.1. Put a servo grommet on top of the shock shaft so that its located against the hex head on the shock shaft. It serves to act as a bump stop for the shock shaft during rebound. It will be pressed between the shock shaft head, and the frame when the shock is not compressed.
2. Remove the stock black rubber tubes from the shock shaft. They are used to limit the shocks travel. In their place put a regular rubber o-ring grommet on the shaft. This acts as a bump stop for the shock during full compression. These changes only lower the Pumpkin/Box by around 1/4" or 5mm which does help the CG a tiny bit. But more importantly they change the front suspension arm angle by making them parallel to the ground when not compressed. By doing this you are gaining better camber angles during operation and making better use of the bump steer during suspension compression.
I also run the "pen springs" in the rear to help control the axle hop. (As opposed to the third shock option.) But I add plates over the cavity to hold the springs in. Instead of using a center shaft to hold them in.

Howdy, I'm north of St Louis MO. We have several tracks here, but none that have any Tamiya participation. Personally I've had my own tracks on and off, and I'll be making a new one in the near future for both racing. But also for crawling, as I really like scale crawling. I've been considering buying some astro turf to make an outdoor carpeted track so the trucks stay clean. But the cost is the limiting factor in doing that.

This is an older video of a little Clod Bashing. (I tagged a street sign and broke the front bumper... )

That sure looks good with that body on it, who made that body?? I am wondering what it might look like with some Lowride MP wheels and some cool 4x4 1.9 tires
Its a Proline brand body . https://www.prolineracing.com
Wheels - I like the appearance of those stock Tamiya wheels. They were a major selling point for me to buy this truck. But I swapped the body because in the present day of stadium trucks from other brands out performing this Tamiya model. I didn't want its performance to not backup its looks. So a more stock truck body seemed more correct. Plus a like the retro look.
Today I pulled the 50's Chevy body as I'm looking at touching up the chipped paint. (Back story, I drove this truck on a race track for a while, and subsequently it got crashed into numerous times by other drivers.) I'm thinking about painting the chips in another color in order to get a more patina appearance. But I'm not totally sure how the outcome will look. My other thought is to repaint them in the same color in knowing that the touch ups will be obvious and view able from the outside of the body. Old trucks always have dents and dings. So maybe the touch ups will give it this appearance. I don't know, I suppose I will just "wing-it" and we will see how it turns out!

I hate the video's online showing Tamiya groups racing large amounts of the same kits. There's no Tamiya people where I live! Everyone one here races brushless Traxxas trucks, and the like. I'm the only one into Tamiya's and more specifically I'm into the wheelie kits so I'm completely the odd duck.... I want more Tamiya people local to drive with!

Today I swapped to a rear gear diff on my Tamiya F150 TA02 chassis. The stock rear ball diff always slipped no matter what I tried since it was new. Its the only one that I've ever had that always slipped... But now the truck has 4wd like its meant to. Plus who wants a Fwd 4x4! -lol

I had a Lobo in my youth. But mine had different stickers. Mine was black with red, white, and black stickers in the same pattern as the orange on black picture above. Man I have not thought about that car in decades!
I drove the crap out of it back in the day. I sold mine to a friend who gutted it and put a MRC radio in it after the magnetic steering died from driving through puddles. Fun memories....

Hello, I'm a new guy here. I've been into Tamiya's since my youth. I've owned a dozen or more back then, and I have a dozen or more RC's now. I'm partial to the wheelies, monster trucks, and the scale trucks over Tamiya's other models. Here's a couple of my toys, below. When they came out with the chrome and gold bodies on the CW-01 chassis, I had to have one of each! The green Mini is a lowered 'box with a brushless setup. So anyway that is the basics about me. Thanks

You are truly an amazing fabricator. This project is completely amazing. I wanted to share a much lesser project themed on the Mad Max movie.
