  1. It has been a while but I have finally got an update for this build!

I have finally upgraded the steering, using Lunchbox threaded shafts and Tamiya 5mm ball cups. Thank you Mark Bray for the advise, not sure if you are on here or not...... Next on the list is new servo and custom servo linkage/horn

Sounds like some good stuff coming.

Driver looks perfectly fine to me for something that’s being used rather than a shelf queen.

I’ll be honest, I just wouldn’t have the patience. I’d probably not even include it if a build cane with one!

Yeah I'm looking forward to the next little extras that I'm going to do.

I will make sure I post pictures of the progress and keep the thread updated :)

Thanks. I’ve certainly enjoyed the build. Obviously it could have been done a lot quicker, but I’ve enjoyed doing it mostly piecemeal and learning the sections better.

Looking forward to learning the characteristics and adapting and tweaking to my wants.

Initially I intended to just do it box art, but I’ve already got a bright orange car as my daily(!) so figured I’d do it how I wanted instead. Make it more ‘mine’.

Had a good google for ideas but seems to be little out there (that I could find) that aren’t box art. The idea I’m going with (just waiting on paint) probably won’t be to most tastes but hopefully it’ll work well. Just need to decide on transfers as I don’t think they’ll all work with what I have planned.

Should have a bit of an update later hopefully.

An idea for the decals to consider, if you are not sure that they will work with your colour choice would be a custom set from MCI Racing. You can change every colour and the quality is amazing. I would 100% recommend the company to anyone.

Good read. Can’t believe how clean it came up.

Really like the paint job and the white wheels set it off perfectly.

Have you got any pictures of the driver? I love seeing how people have painted the drivers.

    Have you more plans?

Thank you, really enjoyed working on this.

The original plan with the body was grey and red. I think the deep blue really sets it off and as you mentioned the white wheels and stripe makes it POP!

Ill be honest the drivers are always my down fall as Iam not very patient, so I get them done in sharpies...... see below:

    The next plans are........

-Upgrade the steering. Which will include: Lunchbox Threaded Shaft's, Coloured M3 Ball Ends, Alloy Servo Saver and also a new servo

    - A new motor

    Nice. Prefer your new wheels.

How are new the new shocks getting along?

    Thank you Alex!

The shocks are spot on! A massive improvement, the car handles a lot better aswell.

Do they fit on the mad bull / wr02 wheels ok?. Thought they had smaller rims? I was going to get stadium blitzer wheels as they are the full 2.2 size.

They fit my white wheels that are currently on the car fine. (WR-02)

    Nice what tyres are they?

    Thank you!

The tyres are Austar 2.2" 125mm 1/10 Tires, they are actually advertised for 1/10 Axial crawlers. (Thank you Jason Lee, not sure if he is on here)

I brought them of eBay for £9.61. The tyres also come with foam inserts, item number - 282598387234

    Cheers

Very smart! Given your body colour choice, I think those look much better than the standard yellow ones.

Thank you, I'm going to keep the yellow wheels and get another body so I can do it to box art as well.

As the speed run thread has started a new category for silver can cars, I thought I'd have a go at it with my Mad Bull. I've been wanting to mod the chassis for a while now to improve on the stock steering installation, and also want to be able to use LiPo battery packs.

So the first thing to do was to remove the excess protrusions from the inside of the chassis and make a slot in the back of the bathtub:

    img33435_8202017103407_1.jpg

to allow fitment of the LiPo into the chassis:

    img33435_8202017103407_2.jpg

After that I made a new plate to install the steering servo. The plate allows the servo to be mounted lower so I can bin the stock steering connecting rod, which I replaced with a old 3 step speedo connecting rod.

    img33435_8202017103407_3.jpg

    img33435_8202017103407_4.jpg

I also machined a slot into the back of the plate to retain the radio tray, which is going to sit behind it:

    img33435_8202017103407_5.jpg

This next pic shows the steering servo fitted, and the foam I fitted either side of the LiPo to hold it rigid in the chassis:

    img33435_8202017103407_6.jpg

This is new radio tray, which when secured also holds the battery in the chassis:

    img33435_8202017103456_1.jpg

It's held in at the front with slots machined into both plates:

    img33435_8202017103456_2.jpg

Made some brass 'body mounts' to screw into the chassis to hold the radio tray down:

    img33435_8202017103456_3.jpg

Radio tray fitted with body mounts. I can remove it by just pulling the 2 body pins.

    img33435_8202017103456_4.jpg

The next pic shows the radio tray populated, there's even room for the GPS speed meter:

    img33435_8202017103456_5.jpg

I can even read the GPS through the drivers window :)

    img33435_8202017103456_6.jpg

Not bad for a (long) days work, tried it out on the drive in the dark but it's been raining so nothing but wheelspin and white sparks coming out of the motor at full throttle. Need to wait for an opportunity now to run it and get a good speed measurement.

    Very nice Build!
