  1. wow, very good detail
  2. add a pic and stop teasing the lad.
  3. Not for me but from what I heave read the 959 seems to be a holy grail for some, so just thought this may appeal to some. https://www.gumtree.com/p/hobbies-collectibles/tamiya-avante-2001-and-tamiya-porsche-959-for-sale/1281831626
  4. If you looking to go BMX track bashing you need something thats good at jumps, which is not a TT-02B. Its why I went for a WT-01's in hope that they will take a beating on BMX tracks and caravan parks from me and two lads!!!
  5. If returning after 15 years are you in for some changes... 1st, the two buggies you have shortlisted are built of the TT-02 chassis with the B at the end for Buggy. (longer wishbones and ride higher but not what you would have been used to Back In The Day) There are a few other 4WD Buggies on this chassis. I got one second hand to get me back in but find it WAY to low for my backyard bashing needs. I ran a Boomerang and then a Thundershot BITD. I built a Mud Blaster 2 on the WT-01 chassis. (well 2 one for me and one for my eldest, then bought another for the middle boy......) 2nd up, Batteries, ESC & Motors, so much choice at so little money compared to BITD. As mentioned above there is also more choice on your layout options with more different type of vehicles than you were used to. Welcome back and be prepared to have an empty wallet. I have restored 2 of my old cars, bought 3 new ones and 3 second hand ones all in 3 months......
  6. It also has a cycle charge that will help re-energise a degraded NiMH as well, you can choose from 1-5 cycles, takes for ****ing ever though as even these decent chargers can only discharge at 1mA
  7. kids would love that
  8. packs take a few minutes over an hour if you set at 1mA /1000mAph as recommended on here by most. I have both 3000 & 3300, which I set charge rate to 3.0A & 3.3A. then you hit start and you will see this. top row tells you battery type, charge rate and current voltage, bottom row is program in this case Charging, then the elapsed time and finally the mAhrs, so for this battery pack should be just over 3000
  9. I suspect one of the original 4WD range (Hotshot 2 or SuperSabre?) and also one of the Thundershot series (Thunder Dragon or Terra Scorcher) As I have a Boomerang and Thundershot from back in the day and have aquired a Terra Scorcher I would be interested in both even if only from the fact it helps keep spares available.
  10. Yesterday my replacement charger arrived as the one I got for Christmas was making way to much noise from the fan and then fan stopped working altogether. It never seemed to treat the batteries consistently. I rang Modelsport who I got it from and they agreed it was faulty and dispatched a replacement immediately, they emailed me a return label and trusted me to send the faulty one back once I got the replacement. NOW I can understand why this charger was recommended to me. I can see exactly how many mA are put in, what Voltage the pack is at and also the time it took to charge. Not once on the faulty one did I ever get this information. This is only for NiMh at the moment but of course also does LiPo. 4th pack on charge and heading out after lunch with boys to bash up the trucks.
  11. The Bigwig chassis I have has been in a used car that has been stripped. Not what your after by sound of it.
  12. Will get you a photo as I am going from memory once home later
  13. have 2 but neither are new, one very good, one well used
  14. Think the original Mooncraft ones were pretty good, BUT the vanquish ones are very very cool.
  15. AGH, so they are they have the stock boomerang/thundershot wheel adaptor/drive on back. I even have a spare set of them. I also have 4 decent Thundershot rims and 3 of 4 tires in decent used condition, the other is badly flat spotted....is it worth asking on here for 1 about half used? That would save me starting into new tires all round. Have to say the Vanquish rims are sub zero.
  16. please on the A5 part. I did not know the rims were Bigwig Rims, there are two sets of them, so that means I dont need adaptors just 2" tires?
  17. ThunderDragonCy, also your Super A5 part- any more updates or performance and availability?
  18. ThunderDragonCy, Love look of these wheels:- https://www.modelsport.co.uk/ftx-rear-buggy-wheel-black-vantage/rc-car-products/365789 With the Thundershot range having 4 same width wheels would it be better to fit 4 rears rather than 2 fronts? Also have you a link to the hexs I need and the tires you recommend please? I will be running on a mix of surfaces. Just filled a basket at Time Tunnel for parts the 2 rebuilds. £65 and no tires as yet.
  19. just had the good lady out with the two trucks, let her use mine and I used the lads (dont want his getting any marks on it) she was in fits of giggles..and started to talk about getting something for the little lady who is 3....lol. going to get more expensive.
  20. like the proper shocks.....
  21. I was very surprised with our 7 year old who I originally didn't get a car for, so have another one bought (built and 2nd hand rather than kit though), reckon its the game and computer use the littler ones get these days. Both him and the 12 year old had no issues when the car turned and headed back towards them. So he is using my old Midnight Pumpkin till the 3rd WT-01 arrives.... just need to get the good lady involved and then the 3 year old and we will have our own race series!! Enjoy
  22. wow, and ouch....reading his showroom at least he is restoring old run down kits. Pity he is not passing them on though for others to enjoy. BUT his finds are his finds. I picked up a Terra Scorcher and it came with a Super Sabre and was happy to pass on to anther TC member for more or less what I paid for it as I have no interest in restoring it. I was offered 2 Cats as well but have no idea about them as I was strictly Tamiya as a kid.
  23. Thanks, knew there was a reason.
  24. the rectangular holes in the chassis above the battery holder, any idea what they are for?
  25. First problem is easy fix. Radio transmitter will have servo reverse switch for throttle. Flick this and you will now have forward motion with forward throttle. On second issue have a quick read of speed controller instructions. They were in the bag with the speed controller and will explain correct setup and troubleshooting. May be set for wrong battery type or just that the battery is flat. There is a cut out that lets you steer but not enough juice to power motor so the esc shuts that function down stops it running onto a wall.
