It all started yesterday when I spent two hr on my sons WT01, dropped him off at his mums then spent 3 hrs building my WT01. Finished it today and ran it with a Tamiya Sporttuned motor and the kit ESC off 7.2V NiMh on larger tires. stable as and turns real quick if you reduce power. This afternoon started on the body. **** I HATE cutting out the shell. Both kits fully ballraced, mine with the warmer motor ( sons has one but want him to use stock till he is used to it) and both have the larger tires. Anyways, its now painted. Its a Bush Devil 2 and I went for Silver bumpers and grill, blue body and blacked out windows. Graphics to apply now and my sons kit to finish, got as far as finishing the friction dampers so a fair bit to do yet with his help of course....

yes, esp the yellow ones.

Got the paint today for what will be in my Christmas box. Decided to paint my Bush Devil 2 in Scooby blue as my son is going for box art black and silver. Anyone have a link to scooby rally car decals (the yellow ones)

Recommendations for 10yr old's first RC car/truck
Baddon replied to Jack in Norfolk's topic in General discussions
LOL, as above but with a different view point. my lads getting into RC and after consideration of the Midnight Pumpkin/Lunchbox - tip over a lot and a bit hard to control as they like to pop wheelies. Madbull - bit odd on handling and limited as to what or how you may modify it So bought a WT-01 truck (BushDevil 2 with ESC) got it and thought he will need someone to bash about with so got another for me.....lol Oh and a few hop ups for us both. Santa will have a very large Sac at ours this year... One thing to take into account is where you will use them and the surface or terrain. As we live in the sticks and get away a lot at weekends to caravan sites this could be anything so the bigger the wheels the easier on any surface, again another push to the WT-01's Another plus is they can be made 4WD and with a fair bit of work 4WS. All said though Madbull's are more common 2nd hand but of late on EBay have been very strong money, suspect this will change after Christmas. -
re-kindled had a Boomerang as a teen, bought 2nd hand-got bitten then had a Thundershot & Midnight Pumpkin....stopped when I started driving real cars.... raced Mini Z when I was in my 30's and the kids have started to play with them so looked out my old kits. So deceided to do some refurb to them. Went on GumTree and picked up a Brushless Neo Scorcher. Then found here and bought my son a Christmas pressie from a member selling up, then another one for me so we can mess about together.....lol. Then started hunting Gumtree and Ebay. Picked up another Pumpkin as well. I feel the onset of an expensive addiction coming over me......(all the above in little over a month) OUCH

anyone got links for the shocks and towers for a UK buyer who is carfull with the ££ please?
-
Is this not the only hope they have of surviving? esp if not in a large city. I am in N.Ireland and there are only 2 hobby shops I can find, both over an hours drive from Belfast. So I have been buying from Time Tunnel in Scotland and Modelsport in England.

My original Pumpkin, Thundershot & Boomerang
Baddon replied to Baddon's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Thanks for link on the motors, All my kits were ballraced when I built them but yes they all need a strip down and clean. I have not touched the Thundershot at all, hence the dust and sawdust as the roof space they are in is next to the wood shed. Yes ESP should have been ESC was thinking about something else while typing.....lol- 5 replies

Thanks gents, I have checked I have the parts for the steering of the Bigwig in the parts I bought. They were a job lot of Boomerang parts with a few BigWig parts and 2 chassis for the BigWig. Is the centre drive shaft (front to back gearbox) the same? The is one yellow part I don't have but not sure I need it, its a plate in yellow sits in the bottom of the tub chassis. I have been looking at the list price of a re-re for each, there is only about £10 between them, BUT the BigWig came ballraced with a Technigold motor and twin front shocks all in the originals anyways. Are the differences still the same on the re-re? If so then a re-re BigWig is FAR better value and they also seem to attract a higher resale than a Boomerang. Just had a though, I have already downloaded the Boomerang instructions, If I also download the Bigwig I can see what else I will need and work out the money.
-
I have a original boomerang with the twin shock upgrade (from the Supershot). I also have a host of Bigwig parts, including a chassis and the yellow parts from the body. Does the gearbox, suspension etc just transplant OR do I need a host of other parts? I know I need a body but these area available. What else might I need?
-
I have 2 BigWig Chassis, one as good as new with a few minor marks under it, other is good used condition. I need a Thundershot chassis which is a little cheaper of Ebay. So if you need a BigWig chassis, how about you buy me a Thundershot one and get posted to me and I will post you the BigWig one? OR if you have a Thundershot chassis in serviceable used can swap for my used one. PM me if we can do something?

My original Pumpkin, Thundershot & Boomerang
Baddon replied to Baddon's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Had the pumpkin out and it runs better than I remember, the ESP will full control is defo a big step up. Not sure the torque Tuned motor is better than the 550. Anyone tell me the difference between a Torque and Sport tuned? I have both as well as the 550 Turbo (from a glider i had which is longer) and a Parma Stock cyclone 2 27T single.- 5 replies

Well I looked these out of the shed and after a quick looks decided the easiest to get running properly again was the Pumpkin. Tires had perished and after watching EBay saw a used set including rims - picked up for £16 posted. When they arrived the rims in great condition and 3 of the 4 tires really good the last tire the tire is not seating perfectly on rim.....have to see if it stays on or not. Had a look and the Neo Scorcher that got me the Tamiya pug again had a box that its brushless motor & speed controller had come in, inside was a Torque tuned Tamiya motor and what I assume was the ESP from the Neo Scorcher...... So as a new tool box arrived I spend the afternoon gutting lots of old storage boxes with a few bits in each and tidying into the new parts boxs, here are a few pics of my afternoons work. I did NO cleaning, I am about bashing and having fun, get it to run and then I MAY....tidy it up a bit. Anyways got the motor and ESP tested then when ahead and stripped out the old MECH Speed controller, servo, resistor and on/off switch. fitted new ones and then it was outside for a test run. Body mounts are all broken, rears are ok but fronts need a bit of fine tuning to get to work. I have also noted the Thundershot is in need of a few bits..... Tires for Either original rims OR for Boomerang rims New tub chassie As you can see I have modded it by making my own front suspension towers but the front gearbox mount on left (right as you look at photo) is missing from the tub....bummer. On a brighter point all the mechanical s seem smooth. Gearbox's are all sweet as well, body needs some work but reckon its repairable. Boomerang is half way home as its with my mates mum to give to my mum.....I have bough loads of parts of Ebay in the expectation it will need them. Amongst the parts I have bought are some Bigwig parts as well including 2 tub chassis one new and one used but in good condition. SO if anyone out there needs a BigWig chassis let me know.

:As you say second nature to me, first trike was a Family 1600 B & I Engineering trike build in Huddersfield in Black of course,:- 6 years and 26.5K miles then I got my first Rewaco RF1.....1100cc 12kmiles in 11 months(red one)...man these things just handle but so needed more power, hence the change to the 1600cc. 4 years later still loving it. 85mph in third with two gear to go if your neck muscles are up to it.... Been to rallies in Holland, Belgium, several in England, Scotland and of course at home toured all over Ireland. Then got the good lady i confirmed biker (but kids stopped using it much) a Boom fun 500 to see how it would go, a few months later changed to the Boom Muscle. The kids love em as well and we can all get out on them (5 of us on the two trikes)

The good ladies has the Ford 1600 Duratech engine (Muscle) they are so much better than the VW, My Rewaco has a mid engined 1600 Zetec with a modern 5 speed gearbox and it handles better tan just about anything else I have been on/in

looks very smart now with the white rims and stickers. What shocks did you put on it?

Try facebook group, UK Trikers, but best bet is EvilBay or Gumtree, its a really pants time to sell though, if he can hang on till April they will be a sought after item as to buy at this time of year to sit taking up garage space and they are a LOT of money. If you guys think Tamiya's get expensive......get two of these things and then you will know what expensive really is!!

fox My childhood Tamiya Fox - a restoration project
Baddon replied to Running Fox's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Ballrace it when you have it stripped if you intend to run it, only about £10-12 -
seems a lot of bikers here. I have 3 wheels. Rewaco RF1 ST3 1600 with a really good trailer tent for those weekend rallies, good lady has a Boom family Muscle. When we are not out on the trikes we are often away in the caravan. Also love to get out on our Mountain bikes or swimming. The Tamiya buggies and trucks (2 for Xmas, one for me and one for eldest lad) will be making appearances at numerous caravan sites over the next year I hope.

Very much like both of those gents -
Item (Tamiya of course) I am interested in on EBay but its marked collection only. I have sent several messages to seller, but no reply's, offering to pay postage. So any of you kind people on here in that area could collect for me if I pay your postage and a couple pound hassle money? No point bidding if I cant find a way to get it. Would be happy to do same other way round if ever an item in N.Ireland or Dublin comes up as I travel all over our little island with work.
