Tell me more about the Terra Scorcher family.

The release order was Thundershot 58067 Released in Nov 1987 as the replacement series to the HotShot/Boomerang family with ALL new components, much less parts, easy access tub chassis, less bump steer, better geometry, lighter and therefore faster and better handling. Thunderdragon 58073 Released in March 1988 exactly the same as above only a different body (sold much better in Japan then here as the body was Manga inspired) Terra Scorcer 58075 Released in Dec 1988 with extensive upgrades - Twin front shocks is most visible also visisble is the adjustable upper arms (as @ThunderDragonCy says not the best upgrade as they introduce a lot of slop), it also came fully ball-raced, with a rear sway bar (rather then just the front one) remodeled front shock towers, The only buggy in the family with a rear wing, White wheel rims instead of black and front UJ drive shafts. Finally came the Fire Dragon 58078 released in April 1989, same as the first two buggies with the twin front shocks retained from the Terra Scorcher. Body was also Manga inspired. The Thundershot has been re-released in 05 and the Fire Dragon in 08. The Thundershot was also released as a full kit with Adspec radio gear, Tamiya CRP, battery and charger in Dec 1987 with model number 57001, I think it was one of only 2 kits done like this (other was sonic fighter) The Thundershot also had a Quick Drive version as did the Thunderdragon. Sort out the A5 and its a decent vintage buggy. I have all 4 and the Thundershot was my first NIB Tamiya kit back in the day. -
IT arrived and I am well pleased, new phone also arrived today and cant get flicker to work to upload a picture....

When at University someone pointed out that Virginia Bottomley (a much loved.......politician at that time) was an anagram of I 'm an evil tory biggot So we decided to see who could come up with the best anagram of their own name Andrew Gibson (me) Grew Bad on sin Well I needed a 6 digit password for the university computer network and I liked my anagram, so Baddon was born. It also works quite well in the Biker world as my presentation plate on my trike is

I got 2 Ikea Detolf display cases and joined them together. I picked them up second hand and added the additional shelves to double the storage.

@GTodd The Super Astute was not about for me to covet before I got out of RC, so no interest to me. Also I personally think the Astute is WAY better looking.

@Mokei Kagaku thanks for that info. Pretty sure I have seen on some FB groups his name appear with thanks from others but nice to check without being to obvious about it.

Most of us on here are here because it was our childhood racer/toy/basher. Back in the day the videos of Tamiya were on constantly in my 2 local hobby shops, Monster Beetle, LunchBox, |Bomerang, Bigwig, Supershot, Falcon, Frog, Grasshopper and on and on. We bought guide books and if you were like me spent hours reading and re-reading every word. SO marketing was a massive part of the Tamiya brand. Who here learnt about racing lines from a Tamiya guide book? Who read it so much that it started to fall apart? who here knew the specs of almost every buggy in there? in the age before computers and more spare money (for us kids to get these buggies) we wanted for ages, we wee happy to build, then bash and fix. NOW, kids want things instant and change from one fad to the next in seconds, hence they want RTR, no patience and if it breaks its left not to be touched as they did not build it they cant fix it (I know I am generalizing but so true of a lot of todays youth.) So for me its about nostalgia, nostalgia and nostalgia. I now have 2 display cabinets full of the real buggies that were the center pages of my old guide books, I can lift hem out, work on them, fettle and IF I really want to put a battery in them and take them outside and break them!! My kids have there favorites to look at BUT they all like my bash their own buggies which I fettle and fix, there are 2 Tamiya for the ladies who are not so hard on them and 3 Traxas for us boys as we like big air and hard landings and they are SOOOOOOO much more robust than Tamiya. Best starter buggy for a little one is still in my opinion a Madbull, it looks good (ODD) will run on most surfaces and is easy to fix My 2 little ones started on them and the little lady still loves here pink one with a barbie head for a driver.

Best value Tamiya rc kit. Opinions please....
Baddon replied to Bromley's topic in General discussions
Thats what I love about this forum and the good people who use it, LOTS of very different answers, none are wrong and no one starts to argue about what other people like. Heres to us all. -
The Terra in need of work is SOLD The Thundershot is also SOLD Only the Black Terra Scorcher left.
-
@Shodog IF......it used the paint I have then I would, BUT the price of buying all the different colours for a hard body would add another 30 to the purchase. Things here are tight and I am currently selling off lots of bits and spare buggies to get me have something I can build (the best bit for me) over the Christmas break.
