Thunder Shot and Hotshot Parts compatibility?
Baddon replied to GTodd's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
In a word no. The thundershot was a totally new chassis with EVERYTHING new from the wheels, the uprights, suspension arms, dogbones, drive shafts, half shafts. I think the only main component that is the same is the front to back drive shaft and the common small parts, screws, shocks etc. Even the motor was held on a new way (adjustable motor mount plate) much easier than the older slot in front or rear of the screw in the HS series. -
WANTED: terra scorcher & clodbuster parts
Baddon replied to Problemchild's topic in Sales, trades & wanted
@ThunderDragonCy does a very robust shapeways one, it requires longer pins BUT if its for a runner it will not break again. -
@GTodd drop me a PM its yours.

@JennyMo, my painting is single colour rattle can with colour markers used for the drivers to date......cant see my skill level or interest rising to what you describe.

Found a couple of cars I want and with money......interesting due to one of us not working have opened up some boxes to find 3 buggies where I thought there was only one..... so tied up as best as possible without doing any deep works, took some photos and posted em as for sale.
-
I have 3 buggies for sale, 2 Terra Scorchers and a Thundershot, all vintage not re-re. Thundershot (£70 plus post and fees) Thundershot in not much used condition. Good parts:- Little used judging by chassis and gearboxes and wishbones and also plastic bearings condition. All diffs and shafts turn smoothly as they should. NOTE - I have swapped the very little marked bumper for one of my own (well you would too!) so it looks out of place (very well marked up) for a reason. It has had the front shock replaced with the Terra Scorcher upgrade twin set from new. Bad Parts:- Original plastic bearings (certainly on wheels and did not strip to check gearboxes) Uprated motor. Body is rough as you can see Original rims and tires replaced with decent condition ovalblocks. Cost is for the car as is as you see in pictures. Post and fees on top. Will be advertised elsewhere if not got a new home shortly. Postage from UK will be with Parcel Force 48Hr signed for and will be in region of £15. ANY questions ask. I am a massive TS family fan with 4 in my display case and ran one back in the day as did most of my mates. I have 3 cars up for sale and am happy to combine postage. Will be well packed, no instructions or boxes with any. Terra Scorcher (£110 plus post and fees) Terra Scorcher in much loved but decent working order Good parts:- ALL the Terra parts are here, WHITE RIMS with original tires in reasonable state with some flex in em, front UJ shafts, rear roll bar, bearings, upper adjustable arms (FRONT ONLY) All the required plastic parts to make it a Terra Scorcher. All moves as it should. Bad Parts:- Rear arms have been changed to solid arms Lower arms all have white stress marks Broken A5 which is also badly crushed Body is black and as you see its rough Paint on Chassis cover is rough and the mounting tab is broken off (the one you put screw through to fix it in place. Motor is a bit tatty but hooked up a battery and all works as it should Cost is for the car as is as you see in pictures. Bits Terra for restore/repair (£30 plus post and fees) Terra Scorcher in bits. Good bits:- all suspension parts there, so is front bumper. I may be able to help get the buggy on a set of wheels in running order if wanted with 2nd hand parts from my bits boxes (will notably increase cost) Missing bits are:- A5, front Roll Bar all parts, Rear roll bar all parts. Front UJ drive shafts, Motor, Motor mounting plate. Steering servo, servo saver and 1st steering arm. Speed controller. 1 of the battery holder (I will ALMOST defiantly have one of these) Wheels and tires (again can sort you out with non originals at a cost) rear bumper. Bad bits:- Both diffs stiff as (at minimum will need a strip and clean) It appears car was set up/built with way as they are both the same) Body has terrible paint and no decals. Oddity:- Built with seal bearings at least on the wheels?? Rear and front adjustable arms have some modded (non original) parts?? Cost is for the car as is as you see in pictures. Post and fees on top. Will be advertised elsewhere if not got a new home shortly. Postage from UK will be with Parcel Force 48Hr signed for and will be in region of £12. ANY questions ask. I am a massive TS family fan with 4 in my display case and ran one back in the day as did most of my mates. I have 3 cars up for sale and am happy to combine postage. Will be well packed, no instructions or boxes with any. If you use any of the Tamiya FB pages they were posted tonight in the UK Thundershot groups, Tamiya Legands For sale group. Many more photos there. IF anyone is interested will also add here (posting photos via a host site is the pain) OR if you PM me your number can whats app them to you)

Baddon replied to pirtoo's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Why not collect all 4 in the family? Thats what I did with 2 spare just in case.......so I have a thundershot and Terra Scorcher in need of some minor TLC and bodies. -
just email him directly. Nathaneal Ellis <mci-racing@hotmail.com> He is great to deal with, esp if you need something custom. MORE than half my colletion are sporting his decals.

Ebay, disputes
Baddon replied to acprc's topic in Off-Site sales plugs, tips & gossip - Including eBay, Gumtree etc.
Also some items need some care and time to package properly and with work (cardboard or packing material shortage) may need a few days. All my own listings have 2 days for that exact reason, esp if I have multiple auctions finishing on the same night, cant pack till I see if anyone wins 2 or more items and wants to combine postage (which they do as saves em money and me time packing them) -
Ebay, disputes
Baddon replied to acprc's topic in Off-Site sales plugs, tips & gossip - Including eBay, Gumtree etc.
I was on the receiving end of Ebay postage. the seller used eBay's Shutle (something like that) and they delivered the parcel to the wrong address on my works road they should have deliver to M Company name, reception only, 4 West Bank Rd, instead they delivered to Stena Line, Terminal 4 West bank Road. TOTAL IDIOTS. I requested proof of signature which took weeks and when it did come through no one of that name worked for my company. After a long battle I eventually was as a good will gesture given the cost back by PayPal as I had to open a claim with them after eBay dismissed one as it was signed for. 2 months later the package was fond at the wrong address in their lost and found dept and they rang up my office and I went and collected it myself. It was a large box of VINTAGE thundershot parts, including a bumper and couple of sets of wheel rims and many other parts which are now hard to come by. I did contact seller and tell him to also claim of eBay for at least the postage. As such i always use Royal Mail or Parcel Force. Take photo of the package with label and after postage sticker is added and also the recpeit for the payment of the post and send all via eBay to the buyer. -
lol, I am the Badd one. The ladies of the house still drive Tamiya (Madbull and WT-01), while the boys have all moved to the dark side of Traxxas with Stampede's
-
My sons steering link kept slipping no mater what I did, so the above is the solution, thanks. We just changed to a Traxxas Stampede......bit more expensive but WAYYYYYY more fun as well.

4 sold on Gumtree and local facebook marketplace groups

Any advise on collector sites to offer them for sale?

Built my re re last Christmas and loved the styling. It and the SuperShot are my favorite of the re-re's
-
I was in the same boat till I started my collection (4WD buggies from my first car the Boomerang till the end of the Thundershot family) but then I had a few shelf spaces to fill and added a BigWig and SuperShot re re as just love them both and were out of my league back in the day. Then had to get a HS re re and suddenly I only needed the Super Sabre and HS2 to make the entire family.....and then I added the Winger as in black its just well you tell me?

Anyone on here collect technic? My Son has about 20 sets and wants to sell them. He has the following NOTE- all are built with no bits missing BUT unboxed, All built into their main model with exception of Bulldozer but we have spare parts needed for it. Container truck (blue one) 8052 from 2010 no instructions Mobile Crane 8053 from 2010 no instructions Quad Bike (orange) 9392 from 2012 with instructions Logging Truck 9397 from 2012 with instructions Mini Backhoe Loader from 2012 with instructions Excavator 42006 from 2013 with instructions Moto Cross Bike 42007 from 2013 with instructions Construction Crew 42023 from 2014 - this is a 3 model set with instructions Container lorry (yellow skip one) 42024 from 2014 with instructions Desert Racer (green dragster) 42027 from 2014 with instructions Bulldozer 42028 from 2014 with instructions currently in B model but we have spare parts to make the dozer and could rebuild to original if wanted There is one other we dont have instructions for that I cant find model number for a medium size red racer. Also two of the models have the Power block?? with motors, currently fitted to the logging truck and the blue container truck. If anyone interested let me know before they go on EvilBay. Obviously he is looking as much as possible, have checked them on EBay so have a reasonable idea what they are going for. Thought I would try here first (OR if any of you know a better collector site to offer them on?) We are UK based. Thanks in advance, Andrew

Whats going to be the "BIG" Re-re of 2020?
Baddon replied to GTodd's topic in Re-Release Discussions
Just my personal wish list, no idea as to what goes on at Tamiya HQ Vanquish (so I can actually build and run one as soooooooo wanted to as a kid) Astute - as above and it would complete the set as I have the MadCap and SaintDragon a 959 on a better chassis so we can run them! How about a WIld Willy or even a WW2? -
Built both recently, I prefere the upgraded DNA for the SuperHotShot, BUT if you have to build one to run get a Boomerang as the open tub is soooooo much easier to work on and the steering is not just as bad. OR go to the next generation and any of the Thundershot family as its even more sorted straight from the box. Parts for all are easy enough to get as there have been multiple re-re in both families. Mine are a mix of my own vintage buggies (ones with obvious mods) re-re new builds (HS1, SS, BigWig) and vintage finds with some restore work. Did my own Thundershot to blast but after rolling it and undoing a lot of my work I now shelf them and just collect them for the nostalgia and blast with Traxxas
