I run NiMh as we have a family fleet of bashers.
As such i want fast easy changes as the 3 littles all run to me to change their batteries.
Madbull's (was 2 in fleet now just 1) have been modified so they have a simple over center flip to retain battery. They are actually front shock mounts from Thundershot series.
WT-01 (used to be 3 now only 1) no mods as work ok
Traxxas Stampede's now 3 in fleet all had to be modified so I can change the battery with ONLY......removing 1 R clip, I have on all 3 trucks extra R clips in the body posts so WHEN I loose one at a battery change it does not interrupt play.
SO for me I want a fast change with a reliable retainer IDEALLY with nothing to remove that is easily lost....
JUST realised if I use a cable tie on the traxxas battery R clip I can stop loosing them.. back in 5 min!

did you use the masking kit?
JJ
@Problemchild yes I did use the MCI window masks.....let me see if I still have the photos.
I did about 7 bodies over the Christmas holidays and took loads of photos, here it is
yes there is a rear window in the window mask.

For the ultimate in mods to this chassis see @ThunderDragonCy as he has taken the evolution of this to the extreme.

It was Autoglym....let me look it up
Autoglym tire dressing and leave that permanent wet look on them.

That looks v nice
I note you’ve created a rear window ... looks cool
got to mask the windows on mine - thank god they invented masking kits for the newer cars
JJ
I take its not supposed to have a rear window? oh well...lol

the large side stripes are a FUTTER to fit.....
I had to use a hair dryer on mine to try and remove the worst of the bubbles.
Its a great buggy and yours is as near as mint barely run as you will likely find.
Painted mine red and used black marker for the BLACK sections
Mine needs a tidy up and clean but amazing what a new body and some tire polish does.

I use it on my rubber seals in the caravan (keeps rubber soft and stops windows sticking to them) so also used on the buggies wheels till I got some tire specific stuff in a car polish set and now use that. It leaves the tires looking wet all the time and certainly looks good.
only had them on display for up to two years so cant really comment on longterm.

I ALWAYS wanted a Vanquish (the Avante was just toooooo expensive and heavy Back in the Day)
Picked one up about a year ago and had intended to do a full strip and rebuild as I want to actually build it.
BUT watched this and reckon I may just do the cosmetic bits I can see and leave the rest as I dont want to ruin what I have got.

Another TS family buggy gets a rebuild. Love em. It was my own Thundershot that started my new collection. Then a total refurb on a TS and now I just need more shelf space and money and buggies, then more shelf space and more .......

UK based.
Anyone got a reasonable condition MP shell (preferebly with all its bits) as my son smashed both front bumper mounts off and also the rear indicators. Mine is the original with FORD on rear door so hoping to pick one up with out paying silly money.

here is the family
Also the first full restore I did was to a Terra that I picked up locally. When I had it done the guy offered to buy it back from me..it was red and I really liked it so when I got round to doing my own it had to also be red. Its the only deliberately non box art buggy in my collection.

Traxxas T Maxx back in the day to get away from lousy battery life and wanted to run on grass.
Man what a pain to get started and to keep engine running. Gave up in end and bought for £400 sold for £30 GULP about 2 years ago. It had the .19 motor with EZ start.......LOL

I know
I KNOW, its not Tamiya....
Had a T Maxx back in the day and was so frustrated with trying to set up the poxy motor/Fuel
BUT got a Traxxas Stampede as a basher to replace my WT-01 and LOVED it. we have 3 now, me and the two eldest use em as bashers. I was not to hopeful after my experience with the T Maxx.

LOL, I can see your well down the slipper slope......I am a little furth down but your looking like catching up.
I started to "just restore my original 3 buggies" and have ended up with 16 on display as well as 5 bashers.
My personal fav of yours is the Terra Scorcher. I have all 4 of the Thunder shot family and the TS is the pinnacle of that particular tree.

strange as I know people group the Striker and SF together as Marmite, never liked the Striker while I always liked the SF, @taffer nice job on yours.

I also dont have a cave. I have a few different areas for Hobby and home work...
Double Garage - trikes housed
Wood shed - for drying, cutting and storing timber and a few hobby bits and bobs (its for wood made of vented tin and is a lean to on side of the garage.
I have 2 display cabanits in the main area of the house just to side of the dinner table, with a large table and shelves upstairs where I mostly work on the buggies when i dont take over the dinning table for a build.
As was running out of room I then built the "fun shed" (kids named it!!) to store the caravan, the jetski, all the family bikes, and other boys toys.
So as you can see the model/buggy is only one of many hobbies, hence I go quiet in the summer months as off doing things outside with larger engines mostly.

If I was closer in terms of location (I am near Belfast so that big puddle gets in the way) would love to build one up just for bashing and come and join in.
Good luck and looking forward to the photos

Here is my list as far as I can remember:-
Saint dragon- TBG body to paint and add the MCI decals, rest of it is done
Vanquish - TBG body to paint and add MCI decals and a full strip and rebuild. Also add the correct tires which I have now sourced.
Fire Dragon - change wheels and tires to originals, same for Thunder Dragaon and Thundershot then they are all finished as all had a full rebuild
My old Boomerang needs a nut and bolt strip, clean and rebuild (no parts needed as I did a very basic sort last year, will add a better set of wheels and tires though)
Midnight pumpkin (another of my old cars) needs a better condition original shell as mine is ........ed as let middle son play with it. Also needs some steering parts
Oh and I want a Wild WIlly (2 most likely as will not pay price for an original) and an Astute. Then I will have no display space left.........unless I put up another case!!!

Sorry been off here for a bit with summer other hobbies take over for a few months.
Its an Ikea Detlolf with extra shelves to double the number of cars. I have two of them strapped together with the joining walls removed so the buggies fit it. Hope this helps.
You can buy the additional shelf mounts off ebay as quite a few people 3D print them.
I saved a search on Gumtree and picked up four of them locally for less than one new one.

Wing looks well, glade to see it put to good use.
