Does the TT02 differentials work in the TT02B housings?

Awesome build bud. I am doing something similar with my Plasma Edge 2. I just wanted to confirm that you used 4 identical aluminum C-Hubs for front and rear? Because on the original build they are identified as B7 (front plastic C-Hubs) and B5 (rear plastic C-Hubs). Thanks in advance! C

So...I'm a buggy nerd. That's all I have ever built. Looking at this Tamiya kit...I never knew they made them this detailed. The leaf springs and u-bolts look like the real thing. Sorry if I'm stating the obvious...but I just never knew. Awesome.

Best optional color for a Hornet.
CJ Topspin replied to mongoose1983's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Thanks folks. I definitely love MCI - i just can't mess with the color changes because I can't really tell due to my colorblindness (difficult to discern variations between reds, oranges and yellows). My wife tried to help me but when she started using phrases like "that looks pretty"...I decided to rely on my own broken eyes. The good thing is that CMYK and RGB have number values associated to the color and, using a color wheel you can see patterns in the values associated to complimentary, matching and clashing colors. -
Original Boomerang Gear Box question?
CJ Topspin replied to christam's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Excellent post bud. Thank you for all this info. I am curious though - why did you replace E10 with thrust bearings and E11 with only 1150 bearings? Should they both be replaced with thrust bearings considering the rotational movement of the drive cups? I'm currently rebuilding my vintage boomer that my pop and I built when it first came out. Just curious. -

This is what I ended up with. Doesn't look too bad in my eyes (granted...I'm colorblind...so...) I need help though - what color should I paint the front lights? Black with yellow caps? Black with white caps? Yellow with white caps? Yellow with black will wash out the decals I think. -

I think I will try this with yellow upper and black lower. Hopefully it doesn't wash out the decals too much. Thanks for the idea Beetle http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=56227&id=3092 -
I believe they would. But a.w.k has an original if I am seeing things correctly. It appears that he has the holy grail.

Dude that's awesome! I don't recognize the decals...though I built it decades ago. You should sell it to TeamBlueGroove so they have a valid body to duplicate and to sell to Road Wizard enthusiasts. I wouldn't doubt they would pay a healthy penny for an original. There aren't any around anymore.

I sent an email to teambluegroove to see if they were thinking about reproducing it. They mentioned they might look into it. Send them an email and ask - might start a grassroots campaign to get those old F1 shells back into production again.

Moment where I realized...I know nothing.
CJ Topspin replied to CJ Topspin's topic in Re-Release Discussions
Actually YES! I noticed the wear. I got a few bags of various sized steel pinions. Fortunately I had a ton of new spur gears so I swapped it out and dropped to the less powerful motor. Things look to be moving along nicely now. -

Hahaha...that's awesome. Thanks again for the info. -
Well...I can't find a vintage Williams FW 11B F1 body...cheaply. I even checked teambluegroove and nothing. Bunch of F103 bodies but nothing from the Road Wizard era.

So by stock 540 silver can you are referring to the original brushed motor that came with the kit? Sorry...still getting the lingo down. I have 5 of the original brushed motors that came with the original boomerang, frog, and Williams FW11B...so i can throw one of those in with a 2s LiPo? Wouldn’t that fry the manual speed controller and ceramic heat sink? -
Road Wizard chassis tires/tyres
CJ Topspin replied to CJ Topspin's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Are the tire sizes standard? Because I know they are pretty old. Is there a particular name I am looking for? Or just “Tamit’s sponge tires” -
Hey folks. I am rebuilding my Williams FW 11b - basically the old Road Wizard chassis. I am looking for replacement tires - not vintage - just wheels and foams/rubber tires that will fit. I've scoured the net but I am hesitant to buy wheels for the F104 or F103 chassis because I am not sure if they will fit the Road Wizard chassis (and the hex shaped wheel stopper/differential joint for the rear tires). Do you guys have any recommendations? I already gave up looking for a replacement lexan shell for the thing...gonna run the one I painted when I was 13. Not pretty. Thanks again.

Excellent. Thank you very much bud. And thanks everyone for your input. -
So I just got back into RC cars specifically, Tamiya buggies. I rebuilt my old Frog, RC10 (sorry) and bought and assembled a re-re Boomerang. My orig Boomerang is still sitting there...waiting for me to fix her up. I read up on Lipo batteries, the new engines and their ESCs and figured...I got this. I threw this new engine into the new Boomerang and boy did it fly...until it didn't anymore. That's because I decided to throw a 5900kv (essentially a 6T) engine into it with a 2s Lipo. (I'll wait for the laughter to subside) Seriously, after FURTHER reading I realize NOW how dumb that was. My question is this: Is there anywhere on this site (I tried searching but couldn't find anything specific) that lists engine recommendations for each kit? OR, if I want a rere Boomerang to go 50mph, gear upgrade recommendations? I'd like to ensure the longevity of these gearboxes and don't want to spam-buy gears on ebay. I also noticed that the front bottom suspension arms are wearing at the ends when the arm rubs the inside of the rim. It only happens when the monoshock is fully extended...which cant be good regardless of the speed it is traveling. Thanks in advance folks.
-
...dude...this is EXACTLY what I am doing. And here I thought I was being all cool. I think my shocks are smaller though. What did you use as a spacer where the bottom of the shock connects to the front suspension arm stay?
-
So, needles to say I am pretty new here but I've been taking apart my vintage Frog and was thinking about swapping out the center spring "shock" on the front end with a dual shock system. I've seen a few conversion kits out there for the Frog/Brat/etc front suspension but I figured it would a a ton cheaper to just make my own out of carbon fiber. How off base am I on this? The way I see it (and, again...I could be totally clueless here) but grabbing a sheet of carbon fiber from amazon, cutting it to my specifications and creating my own front shock tower doesn't seem like a bad idea. Any advice? Suggestions? Should I just buy something that has already been designed for this purpose? Thanks in advance.

Hi folks. Small story - my pop died recently and I was up in the attic of my parents house helping my mom clean out some of his old stuff. I came across a box and found a bunch of old RC cars my pop and I put together back when I was a kid in the 80s. The Frog, Williams FW11B Honda F1, RC10 Graphite and...my favorite...the Boomerang. So I was looking at these boxes wondering what the heck I am going to do with these old RC cars. I had great memories building them with my dad and racing them around...but what now? Then I came across this site. I am absolutely amazed at how awesome this community is and the care and effort you all put into every aspect of this site. I am going to do what I can to rebuild these machines and treat them with the respect they deserve. Thanks for this site folks - I am excited to get started. Except for the RC 10. I just thew an old motor in it and let my German Shepherd chase it around the yard.
