  1. Hi all i presume you lock a madcap diff in the same way as a mantay ray diff by removing the middle balls and screwing it tight enough tom clamp the drive plates to the nylon middle gear. I hope something can be done as it slipping like crazy[:'(] tried everything different ball diff greases and nothing works. I want to use it for off roading so the locked diff should make it better. I love these 2wd buggies so i dont want it sitting on the shelf to long. Please someone help me. I will get an new one but i want to use the other one if i can lock it.

    Cheers all

  2. Thanks for all the help so far guys. I think it is rebuildable not that i know anything about rebuildable ones. I tried the RS540 in the madcap last night and it worked a treat. So what do you reakon could be wrong with the super stock one. I dont really want to throw it away. ANy help would be much appriciated.

  3. Hi all, I have got a madcap fully ballraced with nosram 13 turn limit esc and i have replaced the stock silver can with a super stock motor . I have tested it just litirally going round my driveway and the heat is so extreme from the battery its started to melt the connectors. Can anyone tell me whats going on. The motor is new and i cant seem to find out whats going on. I have a no limit esc with 15 double motor in my baja champ and have had no problems with it what so ever. Im presuming the problems with the motor pulling to much power.

    Can anyone help me.

  4. Welcome to Tamiyaclub  this is the best site for all things Tamiya and rc related as far as i am concerned [:)].

There is a lot of different things you could do with the land rover body. You could use a XC (cross country) tamiya chassis or the newer CC01 chassie which is what i have got for off roading. Take alook at the monster truck / crawler forums for home made crawler chassis as there are loads of home brew models which are outstanding !. You could also take a look at the movie section to see the many different Tamiya and rc models in action.  There are also lots of homebrew 3 speeds on here but the originals are quite costly. If your an engineer i would imgaine you could come up with something outstanding for us all to drool over[:D].

Just make sure you keep us posted on your work as we all like to see a model take shape.

Oh yea just one more thing make sure you have got a fat wallet as you will need it[;)]

    Good luck , Ryan

  5. Cheers mate i will give that a try tonight will have to give it a midnight strip down as its the only time the hous is quite and i dont have people interfiering and moaning about taking up all the table lol.

  6. Ive got silicone grease or does it have to be thicker. Does it matter what the grease is used for normally like grease gun stuff. This does sound a better idea rather than locking them and it can be used on multiple surfaces. Thanks for the info [:D].

  7. I might just leave it to see how my son uses it when we go out with it. Knowing him he will try and go every where with it lol. I dont want to lockthe diff  then he keeps going from road, pavement, concrete straight on to rough loose stuff. Just need to give it proper raz outside. Seems to ride ok with the larger tyres on the touring rims.

  8. I used carex low acetone skin friendly nail varnish remover to strip the out side of my madcap shell as the last owner didnt like white so he/she sprayed it purple on the outside [8-)] . It worked a treat and doesnt seem to have effected the strength of the plastic yet . I just used a tough tooth brush and kept it wet with the remover and just made small circular motions on the paint. Took about 2 hours. The finished product isnt superb but will be great for a runner. Will try and get some pics up soon before and after.

  9. Hi all havent posted anything for while as i ve been setting up a new business so its been busy busy busy and not much time for rc boo hoo [:'(]!. Anyway I have a cc01 and have got it ready for trialing this spring summer. I had an idea of a cheap fun trialer xc fake for my 6yr old son using a tl01 chassis raising the height with longer shocks and bigger tyres from cheapo rc quad. I have aqquried a blackfoot body and am now in the process of fitting it. I was wondering to give it  more of a chance in offroading should i lock the rear diff or will it stripe the gears or do other damage to the gearbox or motor (running 540 in it). Its ball raced and has got mtronics 27 esc.

Me boy loves the look so far and he cant wait to get it running.

Just like to say this site looks better and better some of the showroom entries have been outstanding . Keep up the good work all TC members.

  11. It all started when i was about 9 or 10 (2nd year at junior school) im 29 now , it was a school fete day and the big playground was out of bounds for some reason. Anyway sometime during the day some guys turned to do a little racing for show with R/C buggies. It was a basic figure of 8 track with a jump box type thing in the cross section. I couldnt take myeyes off these powerful buggies doing doughnuts, doing wicked jumps and landing with ease. Days weeks months went past and everytime i played with my lame cheetah thing with lights all i could think about was these buggies. Then one day i heard a very destinct noise coming from the next street so i legged it round the corner only to find some kid playing with a black buggy (hornet) i asked where did you get it from he said Winners models. So that started the first part of tamiya and R/C in my life. I then pestered parents until igot a ministock rtr which i raced for a few months and i loved it. Then iwanted something off road and i had a sega megadrive when they first came out and i had quite a few games so i ended up swaping 5 games for a monster beetle rtr (5 games was about £150 worth back then) with a mate at school I thrashed the little beetles butt off it i absolutly loved it. Then i bought a 959 off a mate for £20 and a original 1990 tony hawk skateboard. I kept breaking the rear wish bones so i sold it. Then got into girls, drinking, then became deepsea fisherman so the beetle got sold as i dont thinck they float so i couldnt use it at sea [:D]. I have a family now so gave up deep sea fishing as there was no money and way to dangerous. One day went to carboot sale and saw a tamiya bush devil. I thought it looked like a monster beetle chassis and when iturned it around i read that ever imortal word TAMIYA my eyes went wide i said how much the stall holder said £20 and the deal was done. Now there in the cupboard, on my sons shelves, under the bed and in the shed. Now im a carboot addict just in case i find a tamiya car and now ebay when will it stop!!!!!!!

  12. Help me as i cant upload anything to my showroom. It goes throught the motions but my car isnt in my showroom. I have tried this 3 times now and it hasnt uploaded[:'(]

    Please could anyone help me.

I dont know whats wrong as i already have stuff in my showroom so its not like its the picture size as  they are the same as the ones im trying to upload.

    Cheers all

    Ryan
