  1. Nice. Good luck with it and I’d be interested to see how you get on with it if you do. I very briefly entertained the idea when I saw the cost of what’s available then realised I should probably actually build the car first and also that I haven’t a clue where to actually start in making them anyway
  2. Nothing exciting for me. Just some 5mm adjusters. Still waiting on my other item which after contacting the supplier has apparently been delivered according to tracking (which they didn’t provide initially). So now have to start the silliness of sorting this out as it definitely hasn’t been delivered or at least not to my house. Joy.
  3. My bad. Probably getting posts mixed up.
  4. Man those things are like rocking horse poo now! There is a set on eBay from a seller in Japan but coming in at over £100 delivered. Too rich for me. Are you thinking of making your own? iirc @Pylon80 and @Andreas W have them and may be able to help but equally I might be miss remembering.
  5. IIRC Schumacher do this with the LD3 variants with the LD3S (stock) & M (mod) versions coming with a gear diff and the LD3D (dirt) coming with a ball diff. Again, IIRC they did this back when I got my Cougar KD (dirt) with ball diff and KC (carpet) with gear diff.
  6. Personally think it looks good. I like it. Certainly wouldn’t have suspected I was anything but meant to be myself if I hadn’t read the thread first.
  7. Enjoy the rebuild. And most importantly enjoy the finished product. I get it’s easy to be stressed and annoyed when we have spent a lot of time and money on something (been there, done that with a different hobby) but assuming you are just doing this for ‘fun’ remember to keep it that when you get it running again. I look forward to seeing this new iteration of your TT-02B. I seem to recall you original one looked pretty cool when finished.
  8. Nothing exciting. Some turnbuckles for the Cougar KD. A steel pinion for something that’ll probably sit unbuilt in a box for a bit longer. And a car build stand with shock holes just because I felt like buying one! Still waiting on something that was posted 7 days ago and is looking more and more like it’s been lost in the Royal Mail black hole.
  9. Indeed. Teach me to rush. I will have a look at JKRC. Will be picking up a chassis and getting it back together. Just going to finish other jobs first now. Still annoying mind!
  10. And just like that, it’s dead Absolutely fuming with myself. Not paying attention whilst getting something else and knocked it off top of shelf. About 7ft to the floor. The floor won. Fortunately at least only the chassis broke with no damage to the front end that had previously been rebuilt/attached. Body was on and protected that area. Anyway, it’s back in bits. I have sunk too much in this to leave it but I am going to let it take a back seat for a bit. Get the GF-01 running sweet for my daughter and finally get my Schumacher Cougar KD built. It will return. Just not sure when right now.
  11. Noticed this when adding the rear bar to the DT-03 and whilst it’s not mentioned anywhere in either the DT-03 or 02 instructions iirc it seems a bit too convenient for that not to be the use. I added a little bit of iirc 2mm heat shrink to the ‘hidden’ portion of the bar before setting the holes. Never bothered to remove it. Can you, or anyone else, clarify what the part numbers are for the top two bags? The one on the left looks like some bevel gears and the right I presume contains the notched shafts in the detail picture. Not saying I’ll copy this but I have gone that far with the 03 I could be tempted to go a bit further!
  12. Cheers. Looked after asking and suspected as much but confirmation seals the deal. This will be gracing a shell of my asap.
  13. Looking ace that. What colour is the blue? Is it a Tamiya colour?
  14. See this is why I love reading people’s builds. I’ve not come across this ‘trick’ before and was instead using the ‘expensive’ in comparison to o-rings Tamiya Alloy Spacers. Will definitely be giving this o-ring method a try on my rebuild.
  15. Will be following this one as been DT-02 curious since building the DT-03 and using some of the ‘upgraded/better’ parts of the DT-02 in the build. Like @Pylon80 this could end up costing me money if not careful!
  16. More a case of not sure I want to go down that route. In reality it just needs finishing but as the body isn’t painted if I could easily source black wheels I’d have gone that route. Still an option I’ll keep in mind however. As I suspected. Think I’ll stay white for now then. Cheers all.
  17. Wasn’t aware of that. Useful information. No need to think it. It’s unfortunately accurate as I am finding with my same era Cougar KD unfinished build. A lot of parts and options are difficult to impossible to get hold of. I will give the thread a read though. Gut feeling right this moment though is it could be effort and a rabbit hole I don’t want to go down over a colour scheme! No. I don’t think they will either and don’t fancy the risk unless someone knows for sure they will take. Thanks for the input so far. Think I may stay white!
  18. That’s my fall back but don’t want to trash the wheels. I’ve never done it so only going off what I’ve read so far and as I understand it they need to be nylon (?) based to take the dye with the hard plastic/abs(?) ones basically becoming warped because of the heat and also failing to take the dye anyway. I’d rather not trash the wheels on the off chance as I can keep them white but with a different colour scheme.
  19. Pretty much as title really. Mulling some ideas over for the shell on the DT-03 rebuild and one of those would work better if the wheels were black vs white. My google skills are coming up blank other than they at least were available in orange as well as white but nothing else. As I don’t have a wealth of knowledge/experience with kits can anyone tell me if blacks version exist and if not any black truck wheels in Tamiya’s range that are front bearing/rear hex. I know you can get Pumpkin wheels in black but they are too wide (imo) for the Aqroshot/look. Failing that, I am aware that for the normal DT-03 (buggy) you can use Schumacher Cougar KC and TRF201 (iirc) parts to get hex front wheels. Has anyone figured out a way of doing this for the Aqroshot with its longer axles? Edit to add, I did consider dying them but they feel like hard plastic (ABS?) so unlikely to take and warp in the hot water. Again. Unless someone knows better.
  20. Well, with an argument like that it’s hard not to want to do it! Watch this space then. If I start it it’s likely to be end of May when I have some time away from work.
  21. Looking around I realised I didn’t in fact have all of the Hop Ups. Only one thing for it! As I’ve mentioned, I stupidly threw a box away that must have had the unused/swapped out parts for this and my daughters GF-01. First thing I have settled on whilst rebuilding the DT-03 was to return to standard upper arms vs the turnbuckle hop up (for now at least) so needed to order some replacement D and E parts (x2 to do both sides) and noticed the Reinforced M Parts (damper stay mounts) 54816 so this went in the order too. Not as sexy as blue things but an ‘upgrade’ all the same plus some spares from this plus the parts it replaces. Getting started on the front end then was todays job. Lower arms back on with GPMRacing Front Suspension Arm Alloy Mount and the reinforced bumper and damper stay mounts installed from the hop up pack. Only discernible difference appears to be finish with the hop up being duller and a different texture. Next the task of fitting the standard upper arms. The lowers are shimmed up to remove as much slop without binding as possible and feel much better as a result. For the upper arms I was up against it as I have minimal shims and spacers to work with. Remember that box that went in the bin I got there after a fashion though but suspect I’ll be revisiting this at some point. So there we are. Front end (excluding servo and steering arms as I’ve borrowed the servo for something for now) back together. For those who have read/remember the original build. Some builders at the time were putting car wheel balance weights in the chassis nose cavity. I didn’t have any but I did have Blu-Tac so I stuffed some in and ended up adding 25g in total (13g in the left side and 12g in the right). It’s still in there as I couldn’t be bothered to split chassis and dig it out. Again, in the original build I swapped the lower arm and c-hub to steering arm step screws to low friction shafts and shimmed accordingly. I’ll admit it probably wasn’t/isn't needed but it’s what I did and have continued to do whilst re-adding the upper arms. I’ve not listed the individual shim sizes this time as I’ve seen various people using different thicknesses in their builds so if you intend to do this just experiment to find a result you are happy with. For reference for anyone who’s interested or comes to this down the line. Parts used: 54816 Reinforced M Parts. 54395 3x22mm Low Friction Suspension Shafts. (You will need 6 for the front if not using turnbuckles). 53301 TL01 Suspension Shafts. (Also for the front but this time the upper arm to damper stay mount - not needed if using turnbuckles). 53585 3mm Shims (0.1/0.2/0.3mm) and 53539 Aluminium Spacer Set used to shim as needed. 54562 Carbon Front Shock Tower. 54993 DF-03 Aluminium Shocks. (Fronts built using 3 O-rings internally with 2 hole pistons and 400cst oil) 54572 Turnbuckle Set. (not in shot but the steering arms will be used and obviously the upper arms could be swapped out too). 54564 Aluminium Battery Bar. 54565 Aluminium Servo Mount. DT3008 GPMRacing Front Suspension Arm Alloy Mount. To finish for today then. Progress but not a lot!
  22. Not sure how much of a build I could do tbh. The ‘complex’ bits were already done such as transmission and shock build. It would largely be final assembly. I may put something together though if there’s likely to be interest. I do intend to part strip what’s done as I have managed to source some Option Parts I never got around to buying originally so an element of rebuilding will be going on. Need to finish the Tamiya bits first though. As far as evolved. Schumacher seemed to have settled on one screw head type now! And the body comes pre cut. That I do like!
  23. Two lovely builds you have there. Makes me really want to get my Cougar KD back off the shelf and get it finished. I am actually a fan of the bag in a bag in a bag method from Schumacher. Makes doing a few steps then packing away for a day or two easier. Maybe just not 4+ years Look forward to see what else you end up doing with these two.
  24. Well as someone who uses Velcro to attach the esc and rx and has never even considered swapping the rx between cars I think this is a great idea and will be pinching it for the GF-01 and DT-03 to save buying another rx. Sorry I have nothing to add to the op just thought that a good idea tbh.
  25. Off road is where it’ll be used. Only tarmac it’s likely to see is any in between the dirty/grassy stuff!
