  1. Not really, I just wondered if you were active on German speaking model RC forums as there seems to be a very large German speaking modelling community that does amazing things like this
  2. Made two flatbeds for my unimog project. One over sized styrene and one double walled cardboard insert then taped over.
  3. Custom shocks holder Shock on Ready for take off... Servo in and connected. It twists the chassis a bit too much at maximum lock and the steering arms catch on something. Not an excellent design. Electrics installed and connected Chassis completed. Next is the point of this thread; the body. This will be experimentation as well as building as I really have no clue what I'm doing or how it will end up. Lots of ideas but nothing concrete. I'll update the thread when I have new things to show or even ask. Next time: Phase 2: Sore sticky fingers...
  4. How exactly is it pronounced? I say Tammy-ya
  5. Thanks to the advice here, from @Juggular especially, I have bought a tub of ceramic grease with Teflon particles for internals and some dry Teflon spray for connectors and joints externally. As he states getting confirmation that they are plastic safe is important and only use sparingly, except for diffs if you want to slow them down, then you cake it on.
  6. Ah, I forgot that. Thanks for the instructions I lost the one I had. I'll try again tomorrow see if I can figure it out.
  7. Cannot pair transmitter to receiver - Help? The controller has a 3rd channel button on the handle that is supposed to beep when depressed for 3 seconds indicating it is in pairing mode. This isn't happening. The ESC is brushless but is set to brushed mode and came with the kit. The transmitter and receiver are both Core RC Code products and works together in my other RC, so I simply bought the same receiver for the new RC and assumed I could just pair the controller to the new receiver as I did with the first receiver. Is it OK to do that? Anyway, I came to try set the server to neutral for installation, but cannot get the thing to pair. Any suggestions?
  8. First thing I noticed was the new construction process of having each part bag used in order, that was not a thing on the old CW-01 chassis. It worked well. This was I think as easy as the 1st build but the little bit of experience from a simple build helped. It was over a lot quicker that I thought it would be, but it is still good experience for future projects. Still learning a lot. I tried the two brass bushings and clip you suggested but there was still a bit of slop so I looked for something else and as I had a lot of plastic bearings left over I tried one and it was a perfect fit. My first improvised modification. May as well put this here as I cannot progress the build beyond this https://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?/topic/85157-cannot-pair-transmitter-to-receiver-help/
  9. Nearly completed the chassis Steering arms attached Front double wishbone after the cat had visited Front wheel drum assembly and attached steering arm Front suspension assembly Zoom in to see the wedge of plastic I cut out while not paying attention to how sharp flush side cutters can be and after being specifically warned about it in another thread, too. Rear diff bits Not locked diff Thanks to @Kingfisher @GooneyBird I added a brass bushing and a plastic bearing to the assembly to get a nice snug fit. Very smooth and almost zero play. Completed rear diff and gear assembly Rear axle things? Rear axle connected to chassis Just the shocks and wheels then onto the electronic.
  10. That has double meaning for my ambitions. This is my first serious build as it will involve modifying and some scratch building. The chassis will remain largely stock although I took advice from here and replaced the plastic bearings with rubber sealed ones and have put an 80T motor in from the start, although I may put a GRU in, but that will involve modifying the tub, which will give me some experience for future models though. I'm new and always looking to try a something new if only for the experience that will pay off in later builds. The body is where my main attempts at realism will focus. The first definite move will be to separate cab and flatbed, as this gives the most striking difference to the stock body shell. Then to recess the flatbed so it appears as the real life versions. Removing the under body work from beneath the flatbed to make way for the mud guards which will be scratch built and several other features such as spare tyre placement and fuel tanks and storage boxes found on large utility trucks. Nothing new or exiting as it's been done countless times by more experienced hands, but I am looking forward to finding out how it was done and trying it myself. This was a bulk purchase just for stock, there's styrene in there too, but I am going to build a several flatbeds to see which looks more realistic or suitable. Plywood, balsa, double-walled cardboard and of course styrene. Each will have different finishes and designs I think. I did not, tell me more...
  11. My experience exactly. I hadn't even considered the hobby and just came across this model and thought I'd give it a go. I got hooked straight away. It looks like I will be specialising in Unimogs as there are a thousand variations of the model and scratch building/ modifying will allow me to make as may as I like. A few different chassis will suffice. I think there are about 6 chassis that take Unimog bodies, so I will acquire those as I go. And thanks for giving me the idea to spray the flatbed black. I remember seeing your model and thinking it looked nice.
  12. I have. I wanted to see how the GRU worked and having it for future projects made sense as my next build will be a dedicated crawler.
  13. Let's get this going then: I'll turn the flash on tomorrow I've installed the diff and the drive train and few other bits. I'll be more detailful? tomorrow, this is just to start my build post. Not a great start, is it?
  14. One thing I learnt from here and trial and error: do not cut the backing only the vinyl and gently lift the decal out especially the small delicate decals. The large decals can have the backing cut too if you are using a ruler to cut the lines. And have an exceptional sharp blade and a very light touch.
  15. The screws are too long to fit in the spacer and then the motor. It didn't arrive like this, I took it apart to see so I could see how it worked.
  16. RCMart http://www.rcmart.com/planetary-gear-reduction-unit-motor-ver2-p-64122.html?cPath=1560_1482 Less than £20 inc shipping. Took a couple of weeks but it looks and feels solid enough, smooth after a bit of lubricant. Haven't tried it yet, though as it will only fit in the CC-01 chassis with some dremel action.
  17. I've not amassed a spare screws collection yet. I'll buy some. Metal screws I assume? I mean screws for metal, that is.
  18. Got one of these for my CC-01 and was wondering about how to attach it to the silver can? It didn’t come with extra screws.
  19. Ahh, it's working now @Kingfisher
  20. Yeah, postage is always factor for single items. Free delivery at Amazon is ideal for things like this. RC shops have to charge £3-4 for postage so it only makes sense when ordering several items. Plus it's a test tub drinks kit, too. How can anyone criticise my drinking if it's for a fun experiment with 50% proof vodka?
  21. TC is a wonderful place. Any question always gets a reply and often dozens with incredibly helpful advice. I joined several other place but they seem cold and fragmented. TC actually feels warm. Don't know if it's the forum software or colour scheme or people but it feels warm, like there is a physical feel to it. Maybe it's actually imbued with dark magic and we are all under a spell cast by the shady RC World Council, so we spend all our disposable income on RC and RC related products. But I just bought this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bid-Buy-Direct®-7-Pieces-Including/dp/B072JZ35Q7/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1516861791&sr=8-14&keywords=test+tube+holder So that'll learn 'em. I CANNOT BE CONTROLLED!! Thanks to @Peter_B(how do I tag names?) for the tip.
  22. Building supplies and craft stuff and a pair of ball connector pliers that finally arrived from China. My first encounter with styrene, too. For some reason I thought it would be soft to the touch.
