  1. Cheers for the link. Im in Uk though, however is a great idea and there must be sites over here for it.
  2. So whilst I have been working from home the last couple of days thanks to some white stuff, I made a start on the Dark Blaster shell. Using 1mm ABS & some scale wire mesh I got tinkering. Bear in mind I have never done this before so im learning as I go. Window 1 partially blocked but allowing access for driver visibility: Went a bit crazy with the gorilla glue.... lesson learnt. Next up the front screen got the good news : And the other side window: I had no plan going into this but iv decided now that the passenger side will have an accessible turret above so I need to form that & block up the drivers side roof. I also need to do something else to the passenger side window as its a bit boring at the moment. I want the car to look a bit raw, like random bits of steel have just been bolted onto it as & when its been found. Hopefully by the end it will all come together & have the desired effect. Also on the list of things to do is start messing with the main body more, followed by painting (& maybe attempting some salt weathering) & adding some accessories.
  3. Cheers @Badcrumble Had a bit of spare time in the last couple of days so built the chassis & put the body together. Iv also bought some ABS plastic & some steel mesh so im going to start letting my imagination take over for the body shell make-over Decided that as this will be the runner that id transplant the motor & ESC from my resto version. Ill replace them later. Body together but needs some creativity to turn it into a proper post apocalyptic monster Shelf queen resto next to its evil twin
  4. Next up was to primer and paint black everything not already black.
  5. So after restoring a vintage mudblaster for my neice & nephews to play with and then deciding that there is no way the little monkeys were getting their paws on it and destroying it iv decided to build a more user friendly version for them instead. This one though is not going to be a standard blaster but more of a post apocalyptic version. started out buying a couple of old wrecks which iv stripped, cleaned and audited for loss and breakage. Time to start emptying the wallet again
  6. Cheers, will have to order a set. The ones iv got are too thick and quite dull, especially next to the new bright red paint. Kinda lets the car down at the moment
  7. Completed car pics. Overall im please with how it turned out, just too nervouse to use it properly. Had a little go around the garden but thats it. was great fun building it and im properly addicted. Anyway its good enough for me and will now sit on a shelf and collect dust, so on to the next one which im building to actually use...... oh and the body was a new kit, the original was too far gone but will make a good donor for the runner. Got some decals from ebay but not particuarly happy with them.
  8. Loving the black and orange look.. im restoring another one aswell at the moment, going with pearlescent black with that, inc. spraying out the red chassis
  9. Nice rere collection... it does mount but you need to bend a few bits.... it doesnt fit directly to blackfoot post but there are plenty of mudblaster posts on ebay. I think they migt come with the brat kit anyway so you might already have them??!
  10. I forgot to take pics of the strip down & clean but here is the completed chassis with a few changes & upgrades. new high torque servo, centralised servo, 67mm 4/40 turnbuckles, cva shocks, tamyia esc, sport tuned motor, new wheels & tyres, fully ballraced, new rear cross brace, metal bumper (may replace with crp),
  11. I ordered and had delivered last week a front bumper so seem to still be in business.... although they sent the wrong one and iv had no response to my email
  12. Car as seen on ebay. fairly good condition but shell was wrong with poor paint job & various breaks and repairs. Chassis wise the rear post brace had been snapped and repaired and snapped again. it also came with transmitter/ reciever in working order but these were soon replaced just because.....
  13. Hello, iv been lurking for a while and seeing others great resto jobs i thought id start to share mine. i owned an original brat many many years ago along with a couple of others but as i got older these got sold and I hadn't thought about RC cars since.... until christmas when my neice & nephews were playing with some cheap little things which sparked something inside me. i started looking at re re brats & blackfoot, then thought maybe i could put a brat body on a blackfoot chassis, after some googling i found out there used to be a creature called a mud blaster & knew that i had to find one. Original intention was buy it & let the kids use it..! short ebay trip later and a runner was delivered but in fairly poor condition so first job was find original instructions for it and completely strip it down, catalogue whats good/ bad or missing then clean the lot. As it turns out everything was present with just some minor replacements required, however by now iv re-discovered model shops & started reading forum posts so obviously a big shopping list had been drawn up & my wallet started emptying. Im now utterly addicted to restoring/ upgrading the car & there is 0 chance the kids are getting to use it. over next few posts ill document whats been done & how its looking. Iv also just bought 2 more old, fairly complete ORV chassis from feebay which ill be turning into a usable mudblaster & maybe a beetle. Graham
  14. Just read through this entire topic & as a lot of others have already stated, this is an amazing build. Look forward to seeing progress on it.
