RCH parts coming back !! add your name
Acto-Tuned replied to stulec52's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
I agree with Sonic. A list or somekind of information about what items you're considering would be nice since I really dont know the full range of parts RCH used to offer. If the price i sensible I would most likely buy 1-2 of each item you release. -
The first Tamiya you ever saw run?(pre1990)
Acto-Tuned replied to Supershot's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
First Tamiya I ever saw was the Ford F-150 XLT Ranger. The car belonged to the father of a friend (he ownes it now). I can't remember the exact first time I saw it as I was about 4years old when he bought it (born in 1980). About a year ago I found a picture of it taken by my mother in the mid eighties. This car is the main reason I got into RC cars and the F-150 is still my favorite Tamiya (to bad I don't have one). (this is the first time I try to post a picture so it might not work) -
I understand your consern. I've seen cleer coat on other items turned yellow and/or peel of. I think tamiya has a clear coat in their paint series. TS13 is called clear. http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/category....id=61500&page=3 You could also get a extra set of decals of eBay to be on the safe side. There is a seller named jr-rc (jason's store) that has a few for $6 right now.

The link works fine. Have you considered using a Hong Kong based seller like Stellamodels.net (or find them on eBay). Stellamodels is recomended by many Tamiyaclub members. I dont know if you have to pay any customs fee or anything simular in Australia but if you do stellamodels will mark the package as gift and/or undervalue it (you have to ask for it). Also stellamodels sells the Alfa uSD7.99 cheaper than towermodels and it comes with an ESC. I think alot of hobbyshops still selling old stock of kits with MSC. Its not that long ago since Tamiya changed from MSC to ESC and anybody buying large stocks prior to this (or small shops not selling alot) would end up with 'out dated' kits.

I have both and I think its just the frame that is different on these cars. Also the M04 uses pinions that are one tooth bigger than those used for the M03 so its a little faster. Since its RWD its also more diffucult to drive on dusty/slippery surfaces. My opinon is that the M03(Mini) is more fun on indoor tracks but outdoors I prefer the M04M(the Alfa and Miata are M04M not M04L).

Were to get a tamiya skyline r32 shell from???
Acto-Tuned replied to momin's topic in General discussions
I have never owned a TA01/02 or a skyline shell, but I think it should fit. As far as I now the Skyline R32 shell has only been used on the TA01/02, execpt for a limited realese Taisan TT01. And acording to another eBay seller (hyper-sale)who is offering this shell it does fit the TA01/02. Have you tried to get the wheels from you LHS(if there is any). Even though the kit/shell is discountinued the wheels might be used on a newer model or they may just be easier to get hold of. Have you considered going all the way and get a set of Tamiya Skyline GT-R aluminum mesh wheels? They are really cool.[8D] -

Acto-Tuned replied to momin's topic in General discussions
Yes, you can get both the Calsonic and Taisan body shell at eBay now. -
There should be no problem to use modern buggy tires on the Hornet og Grasshopper. You do however need to find a set of rims that will fit your axle and wheel hub and still are large enough to use modern buggy tires. If I'm not wrong the original Hornet/Grasshopper size rim(or tire) is 1.5" and the Super Hornet is 2.0". But the standard size used by Losi/Associated/Pro-Line etc. today is 2.2". I'm not sure that Tamiya has ever made 2.2" rims for buggy. A larger tire will be a little heavier for the motor so expect the motor, battery and MSC/ESC to be a little bit hotter.

Re-release frenzy Grasshopper + Lunch Box
Acto-Tuned replied to Dazmeister's topic in Re-Release Discussions
This is great news. I had nearly given up hope of a Grasshopper re-release this year. Almost bought the Hornet re-release this week but I can wait a bit longer for paddlatrack tires and a ABS bodyshell. Just hope they release it in time for summer. -
the Limited Edition Petter Solberg Impreza STI....
Acto-Tuned replied to thesuper's topic in General discussions
Wow. I think these are spy shots of the new Petter Solberg Impreza Germany edition [] -
You mention the F-150 and I'm sure most of you know this but those tires are also used for the Tamiya Wild Ceptor (RC-boys series). You should be able to buy them in a set of 4 and they don’t cost more than then a usual set of tires. According to my LHS the part number for these tires are 53330

Grasshopper help required.(More help needed pls)
Acto-Tuned replied to MonkeyFooty11's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Hi. The Grasshopper should be able to use stick packs, I don’t have a Grasshopper but I checked the manual here on Tamiyaclub (If you don’t have the manual take a look here on Tamiyaclub). Batteries such as 3000, 3300, 3600 is slightly larger then the old 1400, 1700 cells the Grasshopper would have used. Make sure that the battery connector doesn’t block you from placing the battery in the tray (see the manual). That’s all the help I can offer, hopefully some of the more experienced members will answer your call for help. -
Only VW Polo body I know of is the HPI Polo body. It's designed to fit the HPI RS4 Mini, or any other m-chassis size car. It has 225mm wheelbase (same as M0xM).
-
Hi and welcome to the forum. Tamiya does not use HPI bodys for their mini. But HPI used to make a car called Mini RS4, wich was a scaled down version of the RS4 touring car. The HPI Mini Cooper Rover body is made by HPI for their Mini RS4 but it will fit on the Tamiya Mini also (It might be a few mm wrong in wheelbase and width). Also ypu might notice that the HPI body is less detailed than the Tamiya body.

Blackfoot wheels should fit. And it's standard 2.2" so you can use any truck tire.
-
You dont mention what kind of tires. If you mean sedan tires this should help you. http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/rc/setupt...antiretips.html

I dont have a Blackfoot Extreme so I'm going to be carefull about giving advice, but I have read on this forum that the Blackfoot Extreme can be fitted with a extra motor an gearbox in the front (like the Wild Dagger)[}]

Bought a Blitzer Beetle, leave your comments!
Acto-Tuned replied to El Mexican's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
I use chrome blackfoot rims with Losi trucktires on my Stadium Thunder. The stock tires dosent offer much grip. I also have some noise in my gearbox, the dogbones are a bit twisted and the front uprights are bent giving it some extra camber. -
I think Carson is still making som 1/24 cars that looks Tamtech related. When it comes to price I just bought a NIB Tamiya Tamtech Lancia LC2 for $70 (charger and manual missing). Don't know what they normally sell for but I think Tamtech sells for far less than the 1/10 Tamiya's.

I taped a camera to my touring car once. The camera was nearly as big as the chassis. It flipped over very easily, but it was great fun[] I'll recomend it to anybody willing to ruin their camera[]

I think the M03 is the best chassis when it comes to handling/performance. Its easy to build and easy to drive.[] The Monte Carlo body has smaller wheel arches than the body of the M03 (the M03 uses 60D tires), its a bit tight for the 60D tires but you should be able to use it. If its to tight just cut the wheel arches some more. I dont know about any bumper problems as I never used the bumper that comes with the Monte Carlo body.
