  1. The description says that you run a 19turn in your Rough Rider. How is that working out? Did you have to grind/dremel out a lot of the gearbox or motorcan? I have some left over motors from my days of touring car driving and was thinking of putting a 19turn in my Sand Scorcher. 19turn seems to be a good combination of torque, speed and run time. And congratulations on getting your car in RCCA. Ole
  2. Ok. Nice to have that sorted out.
  3. So being the owner of the photograph is enough you don’t actually have to be neither the photographer nor owner of the car? In that case I have a few old action photos that I might brighten up in Photoshop and enter. Ole
  4. Well this was a pleasant surprise. I thought the whole re-release thing was over. A re-re Brat would make an excellent runner and like Theo pointed out getting hold of rims for F-150 Ranger projects should be quite simple after March.
  5. That Bruder (name of the company that makes the toy trucks the cabin is taken from) truck is so cool. I have just about all the parts I need to build one myself. Just need some time and a good workspace.
  6. Wow. When I first read that there was going to be a Tamtech Porsche I assumed it would be a 1/24 scale like the old Tamtech cars but this is just great. Wasn't the first Porsche (58001) also a 1/12? So hopefully this should be really close to the original Porsche when it comes to appearance (and cheaper then the TA05 Porsche).
  7. I would like to add one more thing to take into consideration. In addition to what TWINSET said about the tire coming off while running you should also check if the wheel/rim doesn’t spin inside the tire. I always glue my tires to prevent these two things from happening although in my experience even if you glue the tires they will eventually come off or at least to some extent the glue will slip. So if you decide to glue your tires maybe you should make sure you clean the parts of the wheel/rim and the tire that you’re going to glue together.
  8. Edit: I came here to help you but it seems like I need some help myself. Anyway this question have been asked and answered a few times before so we should try the search function. (I'll post link if I find one of the older threads about posting pictures). Edit 2:look at these threads for some more help: http://tamiyaclub.com/CS/forums/thread/179496.aspx http://tamiyaclub.com/CS/forums/thread/179424.aspx [ img ]the pictures web adress[ /img ] (remove the spaces)
  9. For all I know it could be a Mardave motor. I have no idea how many companies that released a motor with that color combination (which would probably come from the same manufacture). I don’t have my own black endurance motor here (packed away) so I can’t check the exact color of it my self. But do have some pictures of it on my computer and the brightness of the end bell varies a bit in the pictures depending on the light source in the photos. Sized down photo taken with my mobilephone.
  10. Although the car is not a Tamiya the motor could be. The black can and blue end bell combination looks like a Tamiya RS-540SD Black Endurance motor. Is there a sticker/decal on the motor?
  11. The hummer tires are not the same as the Ford Ranger XLT/Rough Rider rear wheels. The Hummer tires are a variation of the tires for the XC/CC chassis series (Pajero, CR-V and others). The TA02 based off-road trucks (Toyota, Chevy and Ford) also has similar tires. The differences between all these are just the pattern (some are BFGoodrich and the others are Good Year or Bridgestone or something). It is the Wild Ceptor from the RC Boy series that have similar tires as the Ford Ranger XLT. And it seems that some sellers split this kit and just sells the tires. Chrome universal joints from the F350 will probably not fit the SRB since the F350 axle is attached to the UJs and can not be easily separated. A XC/CC UJ might be possible to use on the SRB series. Also the Grasshopper/Hornet does not have the same front axle as the Frog, but i think as you point out that the Frog has the same front axle as the SRB series. Or at least thats how I remember it.
  12. The name we have for those here in Norway is actually quite similar to the Dutch name. We call them s*******mus which also translates to pointy-mouse/mice. As T.C~Tamiya pointed out they’re called shrew in English and our name for them is actually quite misleading since they are not rodents (like mice). Everybody can read more about them at wikipedia.org. Just copy and paste: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrew Ole
  13. I think the Union Jack M03 is limited to Japan only. There was a similar release with the TT-01 about a year ago(or something like that). A white box with just a picture on the side and the body was the Taisan Skyline GT-R (not painted). That was also a Japan only release I think. You can also order the Union Jack M03 from RC-Champ.co.jp. Only down side is that there’s no ESC included.
  14. Maybe they only recommend the stock 540 because they don’t have a more suitable motor available themselves. And most hobby shops (as far as I know) don’t have lathe motors (35, 45, 55, 65 turns) or Truckpuller motors in stock. If I went to my LHS and asked for a motor with more torque than the silver can they would probably recommend me a 27turn stock motor, a 19turn Super Stock or something around 17-23turns. I’ve heard that the Tamiya rigs are quite fast with a 540 so unless they have changed the ratio in the transmission I plan to use a lathe motor or a trukpuller. Ole
  15. Double post and I can't delete it either.
  16. RCMart has it on sale (just a few dollars bellow the normal price) and RC-Champ (Japan) also sells it. Links: http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/product_info...oducts_id=16472 http://sv09.wadax.ne.jp/~rc-champ-jp/cp-bi...0b87528e8efd108 You should also be aware of the fact that the Top Force re-re does not include an ESC. Ole
  17. Just how limited were you planning on making those blogs? Are you looking for only a few very dedicated people and that’s it (and if you didn’t make the cut please try again when one of the writers “retiresâ€). Or could this be feature that any member (when they feel like they fulfill you 3 requirements) can have a go at? Because I think it sounds like fun to write a blog but I have no way of doing until the end of the year. And I’m sure there are others that can’t do it now but would love to try it a bit further down the road. Ole
  18. I agree that metal bearings mean bronze bushings, but sometimes Tamiya includes ball bearings for certain parts of the car. The question was how many ball bearings it comes with. And I believe it comes with only one ball bearing (1050 size). And you have to buy 41 ball bearings your self.
  19. The way I understand i is that there are 41 metal bearings in the kit and 1 ball bearing in the kit This also adds up with the and 35+4+2 is 41+ the one ball bearing included makes it a total of 42pcs. Haven't JAnderson built one of these trucks? We could ask him how many ball bearings that is included. But then again he wrote the page I quoted from (TamiyaUSA) so the only way to truly know is to wait for the kit. But since it's more or less a world wide release I want my ball bearings to be shipped out before the kit. So I'm going to either buy a bunch of ball bearings from walawala_store or have RC-Champ include bearings when ordering the kit. Ole
  20. No need to wait until then. On the TamiyaUSA webpage they have listed what ball bearings you need. Not that I want to guarantee that the information there is correct (although I believe it is). Ole
  21. Does anybody here think that the Hi-Lift will be profitable for eBay sellers that split the kits and sell parts? There are some nice things on this kit: The body, 3-speed gearbox with 4WD output, axles that look a bit more scale then the TLT-1 axles, nice looking wheels and tires that are not available from any other kit (and since they’re 1.9†they might be something to put on an XC/CC). Anything else in this kit you think would sell? And what spares do you think will be available from Tamiya? Body, tires…? BTW I’m not an eBay seller and I’m not planning to ever split a Hi-Lift kit for profit. But I wouldn’t mind having an extra set of those parts I mentioned. Ole
  22. There is a game that could fit the description but it is for an old SEGA system. I didn’t know about it myself until I saw this thread yesterday: http://tamiyaclub.com/CS/forums/thread/177265.aspx SEGA R.C. Grand Prix.
  23. Sounds like your son has reversed the steering servo. You can download manuals from the American Ko Propo web site (kopropo.com). Here is a link. The manual is compressed as a zip file but once unzipped it consists of .jpeg files (aka pictures).
  24. How is the top speed on the Hi-lift? Do any of the videos show the truck running at maximum speed? Not that I want it to be fast I’m just curious if I will need to build the Hi-Lift with a lathe motor to keep the speed more scale (and to avoid a nasty high speed roll over). And if you are responsible for the layout of the TamiyaUSA webpage I give you two thumbs up. The High-Lift product page looks great.
  25. I agree with foucs1. Although I have to confess that when I joined TamiyaClub I did look forward to the day I would reach a hundred posts and get one of those 100+ under my username. Can’t remember if I ever reached one hundred posts before the TC forum update and now I don’t care about the number of posts anymore. Ole
