  1. Ok i'll try to remember Tamiya TS52 'Candy Lime Green'. But isn’t a candy color a bit more difficult to paint than the normal flat or glossy color?
  2. I’m surprised how nice that grasshopper looks in green. I have a re-re Grasshopper that could use some new paint and stickers next summer, maybe I should consider painting it green… Do you have the name or color code of that green color?
  3. Thanks to JAnderson for giving us some extra info on how the Hi-Lift is coming along. I think the second video was good enough but the first one almost gave me a head ache with its fast paced clipping. Some videos of the Hi-Lift running on the beach or along some forest trail would have been awesome. Not that I need to be convinced about buying it (I’m getting one). It would just be great to have something to watch while we wait another month (or so it seems).
  4. I’m also looking for a 4 channel stick transmitter to use with the Hi-Lift and the Futaba 4VWD looks like a good choice. Edit: I contacted Stellamodels and they confirmed that on the 4VWD both sticks are spring loaded and self centering. I agree with Typhoon (post under) that FM 40MHz is superior to AM 27MHz but the 4VWD has the features that are most important to me: -2 (two) self centering sticks -a shift gate included (I know shift gates are easily available) Here’s a link to the radio on Futaba’s webpage.
  5. Yeah the Predator buggies look pretty cool with their front and rear wing set up and inboard shocks. Check out this site, www.oople.com, for reviews on the latest 4WD racing buggies.
  6. The modified Kyosho Tomahawk/Scorpions on the Time Tunnel page looked amazing. A perfect mix of old cars and new parts/materials in my opinion and I also happen to have a Tomahawk myself that need some restoration. Although I doubt I can match the build quality of those guys, looking at great builds like that can provide some much needed inspiration. Ole
  7. Edit; Decided to remove the links. Just seach ebay.com/cn if you want tot see the stuff. After reading in another thread that eBay has established a Chinese eBay site I had to check it out. A whole new marked for vintage Tamiya. Imagine the bargains that can be made there. No surprise the whole page is in Chinese so I just typed in Tamiya to see what would come up. And some amazing bargains it was indeed. Unfortunately nearly all the sellers have zero feedback so I won’t use the BuyItNow button for quite some time. But what do you think? Will eBay <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />China just be a haven for scammers or could it be a great place to get some cheap parts/kits? I have removed the links so I’ll try to describe what I encountered after searching for Tamiya on ebay.com/cn<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> It’s an amazing number of auctions using the same picture. There were two Hilux auctioned that not only shared the picture but also the description. But one car that really stood out was a yellow modified Juggernaut were the same picture and description appeared in 8 different auctions and to top it off the original auction it was taken from is still running (a US seller with decent feedback). I have edited my post some times now but every time I take a closer look at those auctions I understand what some of you guys have been complaining about when you say eBay don’t care about its users. If I have offended anybody (like sellers on eBay China or Chinese members of Tamiyaclub) I’m sorry but there are some pretty suspicious auctions going on there. Ole
  8. The tires on the RTR minis are the old M01 mini tires. They can be bought (see my link in earlier post).
  9. I think the Tamiya radial mini tires used on the old M01 Mini Cooper is smaller than the HPI mini tires although not by much. Any ways both the HPI tires and the Tamiya radial are more low profile then the Tamiya 60D size tires. http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/product_info...oducts_id=17410 (I'm having problems using the create link button when using Opera)
  10. I enjoyed it but I totally forgot to post a comment here (laziness must be a nasty side effect of the nice summer weather). It is also possible that the large size (about 40MB if I remember correctly) of the video put some people off as it did take some time to download.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> It was quite amusing to see those cars go all over the track (sometimes off it) and spinning out. It looked far more fun then the high powered precision buggies people race today. Ole
  11. More pictures of the Tamtech Fox can be found by following the link in the first post in this thread. RC-champ.co.jp has these on their webpage now, but I’m not sure if it’s just a preorder or if it’s already available.
  12. I’m sorry to quote you but I personally think that the person who told you that just wanted you to order the kit of him rather then importing it your self. Some of the Asian web shops are also LHS (like RC-Champ and I think RCMart/Dinball also has a store). And then again some that sells on eBay just go to their LHS and purchase it there before selling it off with a profit. And on top of that I have never heard anybody that works in a hobby shop ever say anything nice about the Norwegian Tamiya distributor so I don’t think we will have it in Norway before it’s sold on Asian web shops. That being said it has been mentioned that many distributors are unpleased (is that a word?) about Asian hobby shops shipping Tamiya kits all over the world. So maybe an early release in the rest of the world could prevent some of this. How much is your LHS going to charge you for the Hi-Lift? (in NOK is okay) Ole
  13. Hi and welcome to the club. You can get just about any part for the sand scorcher of eBay but the price might be a bit high. Unless you really got a soft spot for the Sand Scorcher you might be better of selling it and using the money to get a more modern RC car. It would provide better performance (not just speed but also superior suspension) and parts would be cheaper and more easily accessible. Depending on the condition of the Sans Scorcher you could get a good price for it. If you choose to keep it getting tires is not a problem. Tamiya has recently re-released three cars that use the same front wheels/tires as the Sand Scorcher ( Hornet, Grasshopper. and Frog). And rear tires from the Hornet and Frog will fit but the rear pattern is spikes and not paddles. The Grasshopper rear tires are the same paddle tires as the Sand Scorcher. All of these use the same wheels/rims. Sometimes they are sold on eBay as Super Champ, Sans Scorcher tires. And I’m pretty sure you’ll get plenty of offers and tips from other members as the Sand Scorcher is held in pretty high regard around here. And please post some pictures. We all like to see what a bargain you might have made (depending on the price you paind of course). Ole
  14. The XR311 driver comes with two heads (one without a helmet and one with). There is one avalible on eBay right now.
  15. I only know about three manufactures/retailers of touring car aluminum wheels but I’m sure there are more. The one I know about are: -The cheap brand they sell on rcmart. -The one Tamiya made that are discontinued and pretty expensive. -And some made by a company called HG.
  16. Well thank you but there is a difference between writing and speaking. And I have to confess that I cheat a bit. Since I'm already sitting in front of my computer I usually run my posts trough MS Word to correct the worst spelling mistakes. This hopefully makes it easier for you read it and I learn how to spell the words I'm not sure about.
  17. I agree. I feel that reading txt is difficult. English is not my native language but I feel that I usually can make myself understood when using English as well as understanding others that are using it. But txt can be really hard to read. Ole
  18. Thanks for the tip. I wasn’t aware of the fact that you had already tried to sell RCH repro cages. I’ve sent Scorchio a mail but while waiting for an answer I am curios to know if the cages had holes drilled in them for sidebars, shocks and stabilizers? Ole
  19. That seems like nice investment and you can make lots of cool stuff with out being dependant on other people. If I may make some suggestions I would like to see. A rear cage that’s fit the Ranger, Nerf/side bars, a RCH style rear cage like the one you have on your Marlboro Rough Rider and of course a front bumper like the one on your Rothmans Rough Rider. Ole
  20. Edit: Never mind he explained it himself. Ole
  21. I feel that all of the SRB series strong points and flaws give them character (like many other Tamiya cars). I can’t wait to put some of my parts together so I can a have a runner. And of course for a lot of people their childhood summers were always warmer and sunnier (and reverse for the winters) than today’s seasons so some people might try to get a taste of those good old days by getting hold of their favorite childhood RC. I know I'm planning a little retro trip this summer. Ole
  22. I have a few though about that subject: The Tamtech Frog is the newest “mini†RC car to be released and some people had already bought them self a different “mini†RC before it got announced. And how many prebuilt RTR “mini†cars do you need. You have a very wide selection to choose from when you’re choosing to buy a “mini†RC. You got touring cars, 4wd buggies, truggies, stadium trucks and monster trucks, 2wd stadium truck and buggies. Then you also have nitro touring car and nitro 4wd buggy. And on top of that the Kyousho Mini-Z series. If you don’t want a 2wd buggy then you have to buy something else than the Tamtech. Racing? Here in Oslo there is an indoor Mini-Z track that is used for racing in the winter. Perhaps other race classes that excludes the Tamtech Frog is set up other places in the worlds well. I have read that the Tamtech Frog has a low top speed. That might make a lot of people choose a faster car like the RC18T. It’s possible that people here on the club is waiting to see what other Tamtech kits Tamiya is releasing. The Fox looks nicer then the Frog in my opinion so I rather wait for the Fox to be released. Early reports here on the club from people that had bought or had seen the Tamtech Frog was that the front suspension looked ready for 4wd. Maybe some people are waiting for a Tamtech Hot Shot. And the list could probably go on and on with arguments such as buying what you friends already have and so forth. If the new Tamtech series from Tamiya fails it’s their fault for not releasing it sooner. Ole
  23. Edit: I dug up one of the old threads about Jims (shodog) SRB cages and there the parts used to mount the exhaust to the cage were simply called a clip(s). www.rc4wd.com has some reproduction parts. I think I have also seen another member selling some reproduction parts as well. Ole
  24. After reading parts of the magazine I’m quite pleased with it but there is one thing that bugs me a bit. We are still only in the second week of June and the first magazine I get to download is the August edition/release. Is this because the online system is a new feature and no previous magazine is available in a digital copy or do you release your magazines that early? Of course it’s what’s inside the magazine and not the date of the cover that matters but I don’t see any reason to be 6 weeks ahead of the calendar. Ole
  25. How hot does your motor get with the gearing you running now? You could just try the 18t or 20t pinion and while driving the first time just stop and check the motor every couple of minutes to ensure it doesn’t overheat. You should also get the M03 heat sink (since the FF02 is just a M02 with TL01 suspension and a spacer on the chassis). Link I don’t think your car will be faster with a 540 silver can and a 20t pinion unless your 14turn is completely worn out. Ole
