  1. There is an online only option and it’s $19.90 for a year (+VAT possibly). Lots of other magazines are available this way too. The registration and download was pretty straight forward stuff. To download the magazine to my computer didn’t take longer then a couple of minutes. So far I’m pleased (haven’t read the magazine yet but I’m sure it’s nice). Ole
  2. You could consider the Tekin Rebel 2. It has a 10turn limit and reverse. I have one my self but I haven’t had time to try it yet (it’s for a project) but I have heard nice things about it and Tekin used to have a good reputation.. Tekin Rebel 2: Team Tekin and Towerhobbies. M-troniks has some ESCs that are waterproof and can handle most motors and LRP also has some reverse ESCs that accepts motor with low turns. M-troniks Viper RV MAX and LRP F1 Pro Reverse, LRP A.I Automatic Pro Reverse Maybe some of the other members have other suggestions. I think the pink motor will be fast enough. Perhaps not as fast as a modern 14turn competition motor although they hardly use as high as 14turn in competition these days. Ole
  3. The pink motor in the Dyna Storm re-release is supposed to be 14turns so the ESC should at least be able to handle that. What other criteria do you have? Do you want reverse (not legal in racing), the possibility of changing to a hotter motor or even a brushless motor? Ole
  4. If somebody wants to know more about powerpole connectors they look at this article. I was planning to switch for Tamiya to Deans on most of my cars but after hearing about powerpole connectors I’m not sure. I never considered them before this thread. I have always used corally connectors on my race cars but all those cars have used saddle or side by side batteries. I have seen corally plugs used on stick packs you just have to use some red and black insulation over the battery connectors. Some of the corally sets have heat shrinking tubes included in the package. Still its easy to get it wrong. Ole
  5. I also use Firefox sometimes (when I’m not using Opera) and the way I do it is to highlight/mark a piece of text that I want to be the link. Then I click on the create link button and paste in the website I want to link to. Example: Futaba 4VWD 4-Channel AM
  6. There should be a national organization devoted to radio controlled cars/planes/boats in your country that can tell what frequency you can use on your RC cars. Here in Norway we use 27MHz, 35MHz and 40MHz and then there is regulation on what channels/frequency that can be used to boats, cars or planes. So I will just buy something like this FM40 Futaba radio from Stellamodels. Ole
  7. That would be the easiest way and no need to go find a place to host your picture first either. I didn't know about that option so thanks for letting me/us know. edit: The picture seems to be placed at the bottom of my post. Anyway to place it where I want to without the use of the [*img] [/img]. Also the picture disappeared after I edited my post. Ole
  8. That’s a common question here. Maybe we need a sticky placed in some of the forums. like this (minus the *) [*img]where your image is located[/img] example (minus the *) [*img]http://www.tamiyaclub.com/getuserimage.asp?t=n&id=img3445_19122005012037_1.jpg[/img] will look like this: Now you should try it. Ole
  9. They look ok but the decals are not included are they? The Grasshopper body shell from Tamiya is pretty easy to get hold of so I don’t see the point of a lexan Grasshopper. Lexan Lunchbox and Midnight Pumkin might be ok for a runner since those cars easily flips over. Ole
  10. If you choose trade room on the TC homepage and then choose the tab that says members eBay ids you can browse (no easy search function unfortunately) through the eBay ids of the members (only those that have stated their eBay id of course). I found no match for the auction you linked too. Ole
  11. Hi and welcome to the club. I you haven’t already installed ball bearings on your car you should do so. Ball bearings will reduce friction and give you better runtimes, higher speed (might not always notice this that much) and reduce wear. You could also try and set up your ESC again but apart from that unless the toe-in (how much they point inwards) of your front wheels is way too much there isn’t a lot of tweaking that will help your run time. As long as the gearbox feels smooth and the motor doesn’t get too hot which is symptoms of something that is wrong/binding in the gearbox there isn’t much else you can do with your Lunchbox. There is no problem using a battery pack with more capacity and buying a pack with some good cells (like Sanyo or GP) also helps. Battery packs from 3000mAh and upwards is usually NiMH and not NiCad but your peak charger should have no problems with that (doesn’t hurt to check the box or the manual since old peak chargers don’t always have support for NiMH). Ole
  12. You can see them on one of the pictures from the Shizuoka hobby show or you can seesome of them the web pages of dealers like stellamodels or rcmart. The pink parts just small things like wheel bolt collars, ball connectors and turnbuckles. I think somebody has the Tamtech frog with this option parts on in their showroom. Ole
  13. I also think some of option parts are pink because of the Frog being the first car in this new Tamtech series. They should release some gold colored parts for the Fox. Ole
  14. I can’t afford every thing that I want but the Tamtech Fox looks very good and it’s now my favorite mini (edit: 1/16) RC car. But Tamiya needs to release some option parts that aren’t pink. Ole
  15. As much as I think it’s important to use your LHS (without them the number of people who start with this hobby would drop dramatically) there is no way I’m buying this one at my LHS. I take my hat of to those of you in Norway that buys this kit at the LHS. In my opinion some kits are just too expensive and this kit will be one of them. The price of a Knight Hauler in Norway is 4750NOK or almost $780US and that is just the kit (no MFC) and let’s not even talk about the prices of the 1/16 tanks. I’m pretty sure I’ll pay less than half the price of my LHS when I order this kit from Japan or Hong Kong. Ole
  16. I’m well aware of the fact that the MFC-02 is for the F-350 and not for a non existing future release of the Porsche. I was just curios if that sticker or note is all the fuzz Tamiya is making to mark their 30 years with RC cars. Of course the recent re-releases and this new 3-speed is great. It’s even more then great it’s super but it’s not related to Tamiyas first release. Look at Kyosho with their 15th anniversary Turbo Scorpion and Optima. Sure its only pullback but it’s a nice way to mark the anniversary just look at their box. It looks just like the old a Turbo Scorpion or Optima box. I can’t help feeling that those Mini-Z Porsches should have been a Tamiya release.
  17. I’ve seen links and mentioning of rainbowten.co.jp here on TC before. Those that mentioned them seemed very pleased so need to worry. What are the pre-order from rainbowten? Ole
  18. On the seventh picture on the second page (the picture of the MFC-02 layout) you can see a little ‘sticker’ in near the low left corner that says RC 30th anniversary 1976-2006 and it has a little picture of the 58001 Porsche 934 on it. Any chance Tamiya has something interesting in store for us? Ole
  19. I haven’t pre ordered one yet. I was planning to buy from either stellamodels, Jason (on eBay) or possibly try RC-champ (haven’t used them before). I will be buying one for myself, one for my brother and one for a friend of his. There is a possibility that a forth person joins in on the order and perhaps my brother wants one to keep NIB but so far only three cars are confirmed wanted. Where do you guys pre-order from? Ole
  20. I didn’t notice that it was more than one page of pictures. I might have to get the MFCU -02 for the Hi Lift. The Tamtech Fox looks so cool. Same goes for the Kyosho Mini-Z Porsches (934 and 935). The Scorpion and Optima got my heart missing a beat. I also liked the Futaba 3GR. And again excellent pictures with some really good close ups. Ole
  21. Welcome to the club. I don’t think there is such a thing as the best car. All cars have good things and bad things about them. But a stock Clod Buster will really embarrass you as far as performance goes. The TXT-1 is supposed to be a good truck but it won’t provide high speeds out of the box but it not supposed to either. The TXT-1 with its 5.5kg, rigid axles and big tires will make it presence known. A Twin Detonator or one of the cars based on it could also do well. It has two motors and with some ball bearings, a decent ESC and two hotter motors it should be able to provide high speeds. The Dark Impact with a brushless motor will also leave most other Tamiya cars in its dust but I don’t think it will handle rough conditions too well. If you are not aware of it rough grass and grass in general isn’t the best surface to drive your RC on as it will increase the strain for the motor/gearbox. Are you planning to make a track or just run on already available surfaces? Ole
  22. Those are some great pictures. Thanks for sharing them. The F-350 just looks better and better in every picture I see of it. In five weeks time there will be a couple of those coming my way. The 1600SP pack might be ok with some of the re-release kits and m-chassis (if you use the 540 silver can). Get that old 5min of running time nostalgia. Ole
  23. Doesn’t the earliest release of the Clod Buster have a Chevy logo and the later ones (both Clod and Super Clod) don’t due to issues with the license. So if you want your Clod Buster to actually feature a Chevy logo you need the grill and stickers from one of the earlier releases. Ole
  24. Tamiya is releasing a new version of the TB Evolution the Evolution 5. It should be a better performer than the Evo 4. Although if you don’t have much experience with high performance touring cars you might not notice the difference I know I wouldn’t. If you're not sure about what to choose read this thread about shaft vs. belt. Ole
  25. How good is the Monster Beetle off-road? That depends on what you mean by off-road. If you just want to kick up some gravel on the near by playfield then it’s an excellent choice. Do you want too do some insane jumps, put in a hot motor and take it to the track or even try some crawling. In that case it’s not the best choice.
