  1. Decal time for Tamiya Marui Bullclod Big Bear! With thanks to MCI for 120% scale decals. Almost finished , need to prep the tailgate for painting, and add lights to the Rollbar (not the clod lights, something else).
  2. Put some ads online to sell the Rising Fighter and Blazing Star. I don't use those much as trucks is more my thing. If a good price is offered, I'll have some shelf space again. And tomorrow, I'll pick up a used M-05 chassis to go with a Mini Cooper body I purchased. Not a truck but I'll paint it like the real Cooper I owned some years ago.
  3. My wife has some names for my stuff too. These words typically rime with larbage, munk, crash... But she is no better with her hobby stuff, so balance is restored in the universe.
  4. If I am to believe the advertisment texts on aliexpress, these gears are anodised aluminium. Perhaps the anodising process causes to much buildup of anodised material on the sharp tips, so they bevel them to avoid this? Just a shot in the dark..
  5. Had a few hours to myself and spend some time on BullClod Big Bear. Finished spraying the body, and clearcoat. Not 100% perfect but OK for what it is. very happy with that. To do list: Tailgate is printed but needs finishing and paint. Paint the bed gray and detailing on indicators and stuff like that. And Decals! Got 120% size from MCI. Just wait 2 days for the paint to cure fully.
  6. Some confusion about a Carson 21T x2 motor I've been using (nr 500906216). Drove my basherbear through some puddels at top speed until smoke poored from the motor. Did an autopsie to see is anything could be salvaged, but given the melted end-bell and deep-fried rortor, its beyond help... But found something confusing. When I was a lot younger, a x2 motor would mean it had 2 wires parallel on the rotor, but this rotor has only one wire. Is Carson definition of x2 something different?
  7. Any monster size chevron will do it for me. Marui Big Bear, or Lunchbox, Mad Bull, Clod/Bullhead, and the dual Hunter and alike. Love the pattern they make in sand.
  8. Put a blazing star body on it. That already looks a lot better compared to the manta ray. I had a ray too many years ago but am very happy with my blazing star when it comes to looks.
  9. Finally had the Clod body for my Bullhead sanded down enough for primer and paint. It wasa used body and at some point dark red, then blue. So layer upon layer cased a lot of work to get decent. Primed white: And started TS-51 racing metallic blue: Some accidents present, too thick causing sags in the paint. Leave it to dry overnight so I can sand those spots tomorrow and continue.
  10. Picked up the 3100KV brushless set, and installed it in basherbear (HSP chassis 4WD) with a 20T pinion. Charges a 3S lipo and took it outside. Turn on and punched the throttle...... INSTANT 720 degrees cartwheel send the car flying! Wow.... this motor set is quite something different from a brushed set. It's blindingly fast! Will even lift the front wheels from half speed punched to full. Top speed no idea. I think 50 or 60kph which is a lot for a monstertruck. And the sound it makes is amazing. Next upgrade... Wheely bars! And run it on 2S until then. And replace 2 body clips that got lost. And glue the rear if the bodyshell which got cracked from scraping due to wheelies.
  11. Stripped the spare clod chassis down for parts. I'm not going to use the chassis itself as it has damage on the suspension mounting points. Wanted to mount the new pinions to silvercans to put into the Dual Hunter, but the new pinions need M4 screws instead of M3... aaaah. Diverted a package from delivery to my house to pick-up at the collection point, so the wife is not triggered that I bought more stuff.... Going to collect it this evening or tomorrow, and I also believe the brushless set has arrived there too so dual goodies for me!
  12. Postman brought a hardcase for my softcase 3S lipo, battery straps, 2 18T brass pinions for the Dual Hunter gearboxes. And picked up a Clod chassis for spares.
  13. I have too many projects, including a red clod. Were are you located?
  14. Cool beast! Something for the wish-list. Haven't had any time for the cars lately, as weather improves work on the house resumes... But When the clock is adjusted for daylight savings again, longer light in the evenings will mean more oppertunities for sanding and spraypainting outside!
  15. Yes its HSP. When I bought it us a used car, it was my 2nd car to have something drivable while frankenbear was still under construction. Gave it a cleanup, full bearings, electronics, and the big bear body from team Bluegroove. Mainly used for lazy sunday driving, wit the occasional small jump. On its first run I broke a rear upright that holds the wheel axle/bearings. It is a little fragile with these big wheels. Replaced it with metal uprights front and rear and it has been problem-free ever since. I liked the dual-shock look. And parts cost is next to nothing on aliexpress. Not that I even bought any more replacement parts, it just won't break... Plastics like shocktowers and suspension arms are soft and a bit flexible, but because of this less prone to crack if smashed/rolled. So price/quality whise, a fine car. Needs the occasional upgrade but that is no different with Tamiya or other brands. Happy I have it! Charging a lipo right now, its dry outside so time for a drive!
  16. Put one of the new battery boxes into Basher-Bear. This should hold those lipos better in place. Very tempted to try a 3S run, but the Carson 19x2 motor says 7.2V max so probably not a good idea if I want to avoid magic smoke.... Still have to repair the rollbar lights, looks a little naked without them.
  17. A 3S lipo, and a new dual motor speed controller. All goodies to put into the Tamiya-Marui BullClod Big Bear.
  18. Finally some items arrived! 3 battery boxes with velcro straps, fits 2S and 3S Lipos. And 2 mr. Bean figures.
  19. My list on the blazing star, which is the same chassis but I liked the body better than the manta ray I had many years back, is as follows: Ball bearings Plasic gear set, kept the diffs standard. Metal prop shaft and motor mount set Metal steering rack, as I think the standard one has too much free play Steel pinion 20T 17x2 540 brushed motor WP1060 ESC Metal servo saver Metal gear steering servo MG996R 2.4Ghz Receiver Still thinking of getting something better for the front shock tower, but that will be somewhere in time.. Possibly when I contact anoother curb again. Its only an occasional driver on street surface, so reliability wise its OK. I do remember my mantaray got its gears chewed up when I took it to a beach, because sand entered the rear gearbox. I don't know if there is an aftermarket mod for the top cover on this gearbox, as I myself believe that will warp under high load causing the ingress of debris.
  20. PICS!!! Edit: they are already there....
  21. Told myself I have enough projects and cars, but seeing such a modified hopper, and knowing I still have a DT-03 gearbox and front suspension left over..... Aaargh the itch starts again!
  22. postman has been really slow, did not get stuff for weeks. withdraw symptoms all over! Thankfully, the team bluegroove marui big bear and samurai bodies arrived, daddy got his fix. Hopefully, china-stuff starts coming in again next week again.
  23. My vintage Marui cars are also on a shelf. And I still want to make some spacers to keep the tires off the surface and avoid flat spots. They are all operational, so can be taken for a lazy drive if weather permits, but slow as I don't want to damage non-replacable parts.
  24. Does every Dutch guy here live close to a beach, except me?? But indeed, I also thought that having an air compressor can be a very handy tool around the house. For getting junk off the RC cars, off the kid, inflating tires, etc...
  25. As I also wanted the holes for this switch and the battery closed on my bullhead, I have made 3D models for these patches. If you have access to a 3D printer, I can send them. Interesting information. I also found the steering on the Bullhead a but 'unnatural' because I'm used to front wheel steering only. And my bullhead has equal steering front and rear with its 2-servo mod. But if you say the problem is that the rear steers more compared to front, another mod to try may also be to swap the positions of the front and rear steering arms at the servo side, and put the servo in reverse turning (switch on transmitter). Then the front has more steer compared to rear, should make it more natural. Something to try when I have my Clod in running order, which will also have the standard steering setup.
