  1. That was a great read, thanks for taking the time. Been using brushed motors since 1991 on the race tracks, and there was still plenty in there that I didn't know.
  2. Yes, but I've never seen any Hotshot hubs with Toe. Might have to make them.
  3. That looks factory finished. Marvellous job, well done.
  4. Yep, I also think they are 0 degrees. I did buy some Hotshot alloy rear hubs, but didn't realise that the Boomerang hubs are offset to line up with the offset upper arms. Now, what I would like to find is a small bumper. Also found out that the Hotshot bumper won't fit too. I may end up trying to hack up the kit bumper to get rid of the wide profile of it. We'll see...
  5. I've got some Tamiya Big Bores, which I feel maybe wasted on this, and some Aeration dampers that I'll probably opt for. The lower damper mounts have just arrived from RCMart so I'll probably look at getting the dampers on this evening.
  6. I use threadlock anytime something screws into metal. And having lost a race at the first corner when the pinion grub screw loosened, I always threadlock those too.
  7. Started the rebuild of my 1987 Boomerang. I bought this about 10 years ago for £40. It came with original box and manual, acoms radio and charger and a dual front shock kit. This is the only Tamiya I'd ever consider as a shelfer.
  8. I really like my tool bag. I do keep it horizontal though, but it works really well.
  9. Finally got round to painting my Daughters Lunchbox bodies.
  10. The newer chassis come with the Associated bell crank type steering. Like this:
  11. That's a huge compliment, thank you. You're welcome. Indeed. With all the fixings that Tamiya produce, it's wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility to come up with a better solution. I do wish they would update their vintage kits like Kyosho do. But then again, that's what I enjoy doing....
  12. The holes that the zip ties go through on the chassis could be used to fix a threaded tube to instead. That may be something I'd look at in the future. But, now that it's all bolted together it's actually more rigid than the kit Tamiya bathtub.
  13. Thank you. For the suspension shafts I used a mix of: These: https://www.rcchannel.com.tw/product_info.php?cPath=27_68&products_id=372&osCsid=jk6qtrkkh3hjf5r5dgppj9qq60 These: https://tamiya.com/english/products/53301/index.html And 4x of these (50mm long) that I trimmed the threaded part down to the correct length. https://boltbase.com/a4-stainless-steel-socket-cap-screws-p28 It may seem like overkill, but I firmly believe that steel screw pins belong in the bin!
  14. Thank you. This one will never be sold, so I guess it'll be an on going project. Thank you. I only wish I had your carbon and 3d skills. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the Boomerang. I'll PM you. Thanks very much. It would be so nice if Tamiya made some option parts for some of their vintage buggies. I'm sure they would sell really well. Thank you. Thanks very much. The SHS gets used reasonably regularly, and I've only ever broken the front bumper mount on it. It's are great buggy. You're too kind, thank you. I agree with you about after market parts to some degree, and I wish they were made by Tamiya. However, my premise with them, is that they are there to replace Tamiya weaker plastic parts.
  15. Yep, sorry. I did end up selling it on before I'd started it. I'd already got my TD-2 and it was very similar I decided to put the money back into something different. I am, however, following your build with interest. Some nice hop ups going into it.
  16. My recently started my 'Ultimate' Lunchbox build is waiting for a couple of small parts holding it up, so I thought I'd make a start on this one. The Boomerang was my first ever RC car back in 1988 and it has great memories for me. So, continuing a theme of 'Ultimate' builds, here we go. Nice to see a sheet of hop ups from Tamiya in the manual, even if some of them have already been discontinued. Factory Works composite chassis with custom 'bell crank' steering, specifically for the Boomerang. Gearbox halves ready. I was considering Brushless, but again opted for a brushed TZ motor, but first, had to swap out the bushes for bearings. An array of parts, most of which I won't end up using. Front and rear gearboxes all done. (I did take some pics of the build but for some reason all four were corrupt). I hate the Tamiya screw pins, so I replaced them all with either stainless shafts, or stainless bolts and nuts. Front steering knuckles. Opted for alloy. I bought these shafts a few months ago with the intention of fitting them to my Super Hotshot, but they'll do nicely in here. Next job, is to start to make up the chassis. I want to try to use my shorty Lipos in here, and will look at modifying these carbon battery brackets from RCChannel to suit. Slight modification to clear one of the terminals, but otherwise they do nicely. I used this TT-02 shaft on my Super Hotshot and it works great. So, gonna use it on this one too. Next hop up is some nice carbon front damper stays from the guy I bought my Super Hotshot carbon chassis from, in Hong Kong. And, here's where I'm up to so far. I need to have a think about which dampers I want to use, so I guess that'll be the next job. Thanks, as always, for looking.
  17. I've not seen anyone break the Re-Re knuckles, have you? And, which plastic gets stressed over time?
  18. Bump. Any offers before I resort to ebay?
  19. Thanks very much for the offer, very kind. But I checked rcmart this evening and they are now showing stock so I have ordered a couple from there.👌
  20. Nope. That's how it came out of the box. Never used a BZ before.
  21. May for TTP. Tried everywhere hence asking here as a hopeful last resort 👌
  22. Yep. Already rang them. Shipped two days ago
  23. Rcmart are out. I placed a tamico order two days ago and then realised last night that i need these two parts. I don't really need another tamico order but might be the only option.
  24. I'm hoping some one can kindly help me out with a Boomerang Build. I want to use twin dampers on the front and am missing two parts. I'm looking for the following two parts (from the Supershot/Super Hotshot) and everywhere seems to be sold out. 14305176 & 14305177 (left and right)
