  1. @Fabia130vRS Cheetah ordered yesterday. Will take its time to get here I suppose. Chassis kit arriving later today. Now still to get a servo and battery and last a body. Still not sure what connectors I'll be going for. I actually thought XT-60/90 was T-connector but will have to look into that some more I suppose Bel*.
  2. @Fabia130vRS I've done some digging around for skyrc, trackstar, and turnigy. The following combos appealed to me because they seem to meet my requirements: http://www.rcmart.com/cheetah-sensored-with-4000kv85t2p-motor-combo-p-37104.html?cPath=1560_1301#Review https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-trackstar-waterproof-1-10-brushless-power-system-3520kv-80a.html?___store=en_us https://www.toemen.nl/hobbywing-xerun-xr10-justock-esc-xerun-justock-135t-motor-combo-p-36365.html Would either of these be a nice starter combo you'd think? As we're on the topic of motors and ESCs anyways, would you advise me to go for Deans or XT-60 connectors? My other cars have either traxxas or tamiya connectors but I have a charger with several different charge leads so that shouldn't be a problem at all. Cheers again, Bel*.
  3. Checking as I'm writing this. Obviously, I need to be aware of the motor size as well. 540 is the size I need iirc. Debating to try find a separate ESC and motor or go for a combo...
  4. I'll definitely look into that one then. Incidentally, could you confirm whether the TT02-R chassis has adjustable turnbuckles please?
  5. Just throwing this question to the more experienced people: What motor +ESC would I be best served putting in the TT02-R if my intention is not specifically to do (high) speed runs but some simple car park "racing" and when changing the setup somewhat some simple semi-paved off-roading? I'm referring to the number of turns or the kV specifically, and of course, the accompanying ESC Any ideas are welcome.
  6. @Jonathon Gillham Honestly, mostly the much (although everything is relative) higher costs out of the box for the listed chassis. The TT02R currently goes for approx 160 euros whereas the TB05 (couldn't find the TB03 in chassis only kit) goes for 310 euros. Obviously I understand that you get more for more :). As I'm not going to be racing anytime soon yet some level of customisation is my preference. Since I'm mostly looking to drive on hardened (asphalt/concrete) surfaces and perhaps a little bit of semi-paved offroad I figured a pure racing chassis and a belt-driven driveline would be too much. As far as I can tell, though, the TB03/05 chassis are much higher specced than the somewhat entry TT02R?
  7. I found the smaller wheel base ones indeed, it's just the larger one that seems to have been discontinued. Thanks for the info though!
  8. @Mokei Kagaku essentially you're thus saying I should decide what wheel base I'd prefer when building the kit and then choose a body. Good to know. Regarding the TT02-RR I looked at what @Blista said about the chassis and I'm not sure I need the extras. Aside from that, I'm not really the patient type so to speak XD. EDIT: I just googled the 257mm body and that seems to be discontinued...limits the choices but still plenty to choose from Bel*.
  9. After checking out @blista 's post I've half made up my mind to buy the TT02-R chassis kit and then go from there. One thing I was wondering about is whether that chassis will allow me to mount a 911 body? If anyone would be able to answer that for me that would be marvellous. Bel*.
  10. Thanks again for the info and insights. I do like the toyota gazoo car as well indeed. I also hope that @Jason1145 will pitch in some insights from his experience with the TT02 and TB03. I'm not afraid of fiddling with stuff and would argue that I'd actually prefer models/chassis with a lot of customisation options...
  11. @Juggular @Fabia130vRS I was just doing some more research and was wondering about the following. As I'm familiar with the TT-02(b) chassis, would another variant of the same chassis be very challenging (as in the TT02-r/s/e variants)? In addiiton, what would you say is the difference in maintenance between shaft- and belt-driven chassis? Is one more maintenance heavy than the other?
  12. @Juggular Thanks once more for the info. I agree with you that I need to decide what I want: looks or functionality, which is more important. I think that I would be privy to choosing a chassis that is versatile. What I mean is a chassis that can be adapted to more racing-like environments and light off-road work (I don't mean crawling but just good old fun driving on semi-paved roads/tracks and the odd bit of grass). I realise this goes against the "supercar" look comment but in my mind that's a matter of switching out one body for another (apart from the technical changes required to the setup and chassis of course). I hope this helps even more and I'll definitely check out Blackholesun's webpage indeed!
  13. Gentlemen, First of all, thanks for the information and help so far. I now realise I've not not yet been clear enough in describing what I'm looking for. @Juggular Your suggestions, while worthwhile, are not exactly what I am aiming for, ay least body-wise. I'd sooner look at something like a Porsche, Mercedes, Ferrari body, etc. I understand that this is customisable though XD. Belt-driven or shaft-driven is basically new vs. "old" for me. So far I only have shaft-driven vehicles...perhaps belts are still a step too far for me atm. @Jonathon Gillham, @Fabia130vRS I had definitely not considered looking at F1-type models/chassis. Might be worth checking those out as well. At the moment, I'm a little bit in limbo to be honest. I like F1, at least scale model F1 but I'm also partial to the more "supercar" style cars. Leaves me to decide whether I'd like shaft- or belt-driven I suppose at the heart of it. Again, any insights are much appreciated. Bel*.
  14. Hi Everyone, Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Bel* and I'm fairly new to the RC world but I am enjoying myself very much with the several vehicles I own currently (some off-road 4x4 traxxas RTR vehicles). Recently I've also dabbled in actually building an RC car from scratch (I chose the TT-02B Neo Scorcher as my first one) to learn more about the technical side of the cars I drive. This now has me somewhat hooked and I'm looking into expanding into the "racing" part of RC cars. To be more specific, I'd like to build an RC car that I can drive/race in a parking lot, or on closed streets rather than on an RC circuit. Most important reason being that there are no circuits anywhere close by and I have small children that I cannot neglect by being away an entire day. As such, driving/racing in the street or a parking lot nearby is plenty. I realise this is probably the middle between a pure RC race car and an RC rally car and I don't mind either tbh. My question is what chassis would you advise me to look into, knowing that I'm a relative novice into building cars. So far, I only have experience with shaft-driven cars but I'm not necessarily bound to that. Any input, thoughts, or advise would be very much appreciated.
