Scratch Built RC Holden HX Overlander Panel Van
Scipunk replied to Trini2DBone's topic in The Builds
Man that is looking fantastic! I agree the side ones are a bit too big, throws off the scale to me. -
It came out gorgeous. I hope mine can come out even 1/3 as nice. I have to rebuild my whole front diff due to some odd warping on my chassis. Tamiya sent me the 2 halves, will give me a chance to install my aluminum servo mount and driveshaft once it arrives.

Lunchbox update! So i ordered the brace and the lens kit from Ampro Engineering and i am impressed: Brace 20190123_113921 by David Ashe, on Flickr Rear shocks: 20190123_113210 by David Ashe, on Flickr And progress on the tail lights: Left side fitted with a dremel/file/xacto the plastic sun on the dremel bit and melted the trim a little Right side was done using my weller hot knife/file/xacto both methods are scary lol Right fitted I still have a lot of cleanup and such to do, but it's nice to know the toughest of them are done. Side markers are gonna be interesting shoutout to @graemevw who wanted to see progress pics

Got mine built, haven't run it with the YR and trf shocks yet but noticed the rear shocks are rather stiff. I also had the issue with the rear turnbuckles hitting the wheel but realized i used the wrong spacers...lol OS that is all set and now i have touring car size wheels (1.9) so i should no issues with clearance Next up is the body
-
I grew up drawing Calvin and Hobbs, this car makes me smile Did you hand paint the characters on first from then inside and then spray the yellow? Came out amazing!
-
I have my kit also, still need turnbuckles though
-
Thanks i am excited to see how it come out! Yes they are touring car rims, Tamiya ones. i have no tires yet so I am not sure how well it will work...lol , should be fine, i may have to move the body up a notch to clear the tires, i am gonna try the Tamiya rally blocks for the Jimny
-
Finally got started on prepping the body for paint, having never dealt with lexan masks before my god was that time consuming for the windows...lol For my first time i think them came out alright also fitted the 1.9 wheels from speedy need tires now lol 20190121_134619 by David Ashe, on Flickr

Really like the yellow, though does that make it a light impact now? Sorry terrible humor...lol.

Kev Talbot owns a ebay RC store and makes over 1 mil a year doing it, hence why his shop and stash is so killer. He does love the hobby and has a lot of great info, even did a build of the RE-RE Manta Ray. He's super amped up but i guess i would be too if i got to play with RC's all day...lol
