  1. So i got my rear shock locator and put in my shocks but couldn't figure out why the rear end had no real rebound and now i know, when i did the bearings i messed up on the little springs that hold tension on the front of the diff, one is bent all to heck and the other is under the axle not over...lol.

So can i just replace these with the ampro mount or do i need to order a new set?

No build thread but I can take some more pics tomorrow. The mud flaps were made from some plastic covers to a notepad i found in a cheapy news agents.

Awesome thanks! BTW the guy responded and showed me his also poke out with the covers on, so i guess it's just how they are :)

Well, having now had a second fit of them they are sort of growing on me. Maybe i was so used to seeing the normal wheels tucked under they looked weird at first.

Yeah that doesn't look bad at all,  also i love your mud flaps, do you have more pics of the car or a build thread?

3d printing would work. If the wheels in your first photo are the HPI turbomacs then the chassis arms may have been reduced in track width? Or a thinner wheel hex maybe?

Who is the owner of that build? I would be really interested to now how they get it to look like that so i havent wasted £25 worth of wheels.

I found it on a TT02 page on facebook, i ask ed him if he shortened the track to have them sit flush, the page it's called Tamiya TT02 Appreciation Area (UK)

I think with a XV01 you can narrow the car with different wishbone mounts, so might not be a problem.

Oh really? Hmm this would be great

It says they have a 6mm offset but they poke out the sides of the arches too far and look a bit daft. I will take a photo of them when i get home from work. Its a shame as they are exactly what I wanted to replicate the speedline cooling disc fitted to the real rally deltas.

Just to add mine is an xv01 chassis but assume the tread width is the same as a tt02?

****, i am getting the XV-01 and now i am sad. I wonder if they can be replicated in 3d printing with a smaller offset? Pics would be great thanks! I suppose you could widen the archers some but on lexan that would be very tricky and end up ruining the classic lines

We can get some Selley's and there's similar stuff I found online here -- but they way like $250 a bottle for it :o I might see if I can find some in NZ when we're home this home...

$250 bucks for glue? wow... i am surprised there nothing that strong in Japan for a decent price. I remember years ago i had a CA glue from japan that was literally covered in warnings to not get any on your hands and let me tell you they were not kidding...lol

Also ran the beetle for the first time today after I TURNED IT ON AND FORGOT IT WAS UNBOUND AND IT FLEW OFF THE WORK BENCH BOUNCED ON ITS ROOF AND LANDED ON THE WHEELS AND WAS FINE...LOL

i gotta admit it's a lot of fun. Need to address some things but all in all a fun little car.

I found when building the MF-01x that the servo mounting was really kind of annoying, with the different spacers you need to center the servo in the chassis.  Probably doesn't help you much because it looks like you got yours centered.  That's an interesting thought on the servo width though, you might be able to find some other servo specs online and see if the Savox is slightly different by a mm or or so.

Yeah definitely not their finest engineering but it works, lemme tell ya i tired all 3 shims 4 x before i got it right in my eyes...lol  I have a feel it is a touch bigger, i'll get the post updated with findings.

Just lots of tiny screws. So many tiny screws lol. All three sets had 12 per wheel and another 6 per hub. 216 tiny little screws. It's also always a pain to get the first couple screws per wheel to screw in as you are compressing the tire bead against the ring and wheel.

Good lord that is excessive...lol Maybe i wont get into crawlers after all.

  10. I spent about 4 hrs last night trying to solve a front diff issue on my newly built rally beetle only to find out the front transmission case is likely warped. I know this because i used lexan to shim the case apart in the front just a hair and the diff works perfect... i gotta contact Tamiya for replacements, in the mean time i have to seal up the bottom using some high strength clear vinyl from work :)
