2 more heavy coats of gloss went on this weekend. I'm happy with how it looks now so it's flatting back and polishing next!

Touched up the black insets on the grill too.

Another uninteresting update sorry, but the next one should be the final assembly!!!!!! :o

Jon, when you say flatting back what does that mean exactly? I paint pretty well but you make me look like a amateur  lol (to be fair my area is miniature painting and 1:24 scale military models)

    @dc-arena - I used the TT02 shock kit PN 54753

@graemevw - the taillights are 2 piece decals. I had the surrounding piece on, but they looked a bit odd, so I peeled them off and just left the main decal. I'll paint the surround red when I get a chance.

Thank you all the kind words! It's a great looking body to begin with. With a bit of patience, even a ham fingered hack like me can make it look good. :)

It came out gorgeous. I hope mine can come out even 1/3 as nice. I have to rebuild my whole front diff due to some odd warping on my chassis. Tamiya sent me the 2 halves, will give me a chance to install my aluminum servo mount and driveshaft once it arrives.

They do but I am sure he/she felt the same as me when they saw them. An utter pain in the bum to apply and don’t look great when on! I tried and then peeled them off.

Agreed those decals are a pint in the butt...lol I work with vinyl and i wont use them.

  4. Lunchbox update!

So i ordered the brace and the lens kit from Ampro Engineering and i am impressed:

And progress on the tail lights:

Left side fitted with a dremel/file/xacto  the plastic sun on the dremel bit and melted the trim a little :(

Right side was done using my weller hot knife/file/xacto both methods are scary lol

    Right fitted

I still have a lot of cleanup and such to do, but it's nice to know the toughest of them are done. Side markers are gonna be interesting :)

shoutout to @graemevw who wanted to see progress pics :D

  5. Got mine built, haven't run it with the YR and trf shocks yet but noticed the rear shocks are rather stiff. I also had the issue with the rear turnbuckles hitting the wheel but realized i used the wrong spacers...lol OS that is all set and now i have touring car size wheels (1.9) so i should no issues with clearance :)

    Next up is the body

Love the cars, in the 90s a buddy I mostly drove on-road nitro.

The first was a Kyosho Corvette ZR-1. Rear wheel drive. Not very fast with it's 1.5cc engine, but all that changed with an OS-Max 2.11cc CV-something  CZRengine. It would howl like a wolf! ^_^

After that came the 4WD Mugen Seiki Prime 12 chassis, 2.5cc and for some time the 2-speed box, with various HPI bodys on it like the Viper, McLaren F1, and last in line the Lamborgini:

Doing the Calvind and Hobbs images took some time in painting to allow for drying-time, but were easy to do. It is still my personal favourite.
And the car is still in line to drive again, after a stripdown, clean, and conversion to brushless. I still have a new Lamborgini Calvin and Hobbs ready-painted body, it only needs the finish overall color, which will probably be yellow again.

I grew up drawing Calvin and Hobbs, this car makes me smile :D Did you hand paint the characters on first from then inside and then spray the yellow? Came out amazing!

God that guy is 100mph exhausting to watch, a real live wire but he is very into the hobby and very likeable... great workshop he has and the paint can racks are to die for ;) I'm off to find his burnout video now

Kev Talbot owns a ebay RC store and makes over 1 mil a year doing it, hence why his shop and stash is so killer. He does love the hobby and has a lot of great info, even did a build of the RE-RE Manta Ray. He's super amped up but i guess i would be too if i got to play with RC's all day...lol
