  1. Man that is nice looking... I know I've seen these before, forgot who made it... I tried to get one, but had no luck.
  2. Is that a Dirt Master?... I have one not together yet, but man... That is a nice looking car, love the dark shade of green.
  3. This was totally unexpected. My sister said she was bringing over an RC truck that she collected on one of her surplus items pallet. She buys and sells surplus items. Huge story short, she brings over a complete, slightly used Losi Baja Rey, lmao, my jaw dropped expecting Walmarts special. I was like "do you have any idea what that is?!. I tested it, runs nice, not broken. I told her I'm buying it, so I told her what they cost new and I ended up paying 160.00 for it. A great deal. I'm currently cleaning it up and doing routine maintenance. I now have three Baja reys....they keep popping up on me, hahah.
  4. I haven't done a darn thing today
  5. MIP never made a complete set in a case like the other brands. Always had to buy it all separate and organize your own tool box. I recently got their tool case they now offer(nothing in it) and made it my goal to fill every slot inside it with an MIP tool lol, almost filled I guess the price on a complete set in a case would be so eye popping, they said...."we won't do that"....probably not many would buy it for the high upfront price. I started off getting the ones that are most used in every kit and eventually it became an addiction, so I got tools I'll probably use like once. Then I got the MIP zip up case and knew right then it cannot have any empty slots....it would just look bad in there. So.... Yepp I filled it with nice orange MIP stuff hahah. Expensive, but like I said... Once and done like they tell me. I'm older now too, so a good feeling tool in my achy hands, is also a plus and justification for spending that money. The tools with the knurling and round handles don't look comfortable to me. MIP have the good ole screwdriver handles from 1972...just like my classic set of Stanley's, lol
  6. In America you can get a brand called "protec" that is sold by Amain hobbies. It's their house brand and they are not too expensive. I've been meaning to get a few drivers to try them out
  7. I got absolutely crazy in buying RC tools .. I pretty much bought the entire hand tools that MIP sell and it cost me a lot ...a lot of money. No I'm not bragging I just fell for the "It ain't real, until you have these" talk. I ensured myself that ok, they said these last a lifetime, so....they better lol. With that said, I'm going to check out some of these wera and hex plus stuff I'm seeing thrown around in here. I also have the Tamiya tools ...plenty fine for working and building my Tamiyas that have the jis screws. I've had them for 5 years now and built probably 7 kits so far with them. No issues
  8. Got my Tamiya steel pinions gears, 17-19 tooth for my neo fighter and racing fighter. I plan to really run the crap out of those cars, so I thought prolonging gear life with steel pinion was worth the long run cost of replacing gears from the aluminum chewing them up. Also I found these kinda easy to find, despite hearing how hard they are to get. Probably got lucky
  9. Ya never know. Phil on poor boys rc told me he has had no leaks yet and he has them on his neo fighter. I decided to just go with these and see what happens. I'm no shock expert and thought these might be a good set to learn with on my test bed, neo fighter. I'm sure one could install better Tamiya parts into them and softer springs and stuff. They have threaded bodies too, so that is nice and they retain the ride height original to the neo fighter. I didn't want to make the car higher with DF-03 shocks. For 21 dollars for the set, why not. I hope the O.P isn't mad at me.... I'm hoping my thread jacking might help out, being it's about different alternative shocks for Tamiya cars
  10. I have a set of these coming. Option No.1 branded, no name shocks for DT-03 and DT-02, 21 dollars for the set USA. Lol proba ly bad, but I have seen two people say they have had no leaks and they work good. I figured why not.... They don't show if they have replaceable Pistons or not tho... I hope they do. Same length as stock dt-03 shocks. They do have threaded bodies which is nice Taking one for the team, I'll put these on my neo fighter best I can and see how it goes
  11. Yah that DT-03 has a lot of baggage off the rear, lifting the weight off the nose I assume. I think they made the chassis longer than the DT02 to try and improve the front bias....I'm not expert, just a guess, but apparently it didn't work out too well. I'm gonna put in the stock oil and springs, go from there. I'm guessing a stiffer back shock might help under acceleration, not letting the weight transfers backwards, lifting weight off the front tires?... I dunno, lol. So your suggestion makes sense....softer, free, smooth front shocks might help the front tires dig in a bit more. I'm going to scale out the car and see where the weight is....hoping the battery can come forward to get some more weight on the front, didn't want to add anymore weight to the car that isn't a part of the car I'm just gonna go stock for now, with only the alternative shock shafts, and see how it handles on the road and loose dirt, where I'll be playing with it.
  12. From what I have read, both the DT-03 and the cva mini 2 and short are the same plastic bodies. Well... I'm just going to get the shafts, put them in and send it. If it doesn't work, then I'll put them another project and do something different. I just want to use what I have is all for my neo fighter. I think I'll get the aluminum DF-03 shocks for when I put together my crazy, mod racing fighter.
  13. I'm wondering if the shafts with #19400414 kit for DF-03 are to long for DT-03. I mean DF-03 shocks bolt right onto a DT-03, but slightly longer raising the ride height. I found that the shafts from the CVA 2 mini and short shocks MIGHT work in the basic CVA DT-03 bodies. For the price I will take the chance, because essentially the two sets are the same, just one has a shaft with replaceable Pistons and has better O rings. I'm just going to stick those shafts in my basic DT-O3 CBA shocks and see what happens. I'll polish the shafts, and use green slime on the Orings. Good enough.
  14. On Amains store site(USA) neo fighter is 150 dollars and racing fighter 123 dollars. Both kits have the included upgrades like cva shocks, esc and tourque tuned motor. So the only difference is the body, wheels and tires. The neo body is bigger, the second decal sheet and I guess a different grade of tire is possible. Still doesn't seem like it would add up to the 27 dollar difference. Same phenomenon for the original and limited candy green grasshopper. The original white one is around 30 dollars more than the green one. Only difference is, one is green, lol...I don't get it. I'd think the special edition would cost more. Anywho I got a neo fighter for 105, shipped. This one has friction shocks and no esc or motor. I wanted that, because I have all that already for it anyways. May as well save some money. Could be simple economics ..more people want a neo fighter than a racing fighter, so they charge more for the neo fighter. Just a guess.
  15. Speaking of shocks I noticed the CVA for my Racing fighter has solid Pistons. I wanted to test out different shock parameters and tuning, but that is kind kinda a big one missing. It even has the plastic Pistons in the kit, but can't use them. I'm going to measure the shafts and see if I can find a replacement shaft I can use in the cva body with replaceable Pistons.
