  1. Steponit!, could you post some pics and web links to the shocks you have used matey.
  2. The Clumber Meets have had to be cancelled for the foreseeable future due to a problem with National Trust and lack of insurance. Will update when we have more details. Regards Mark
  3. Looks like you guys had a blast, be sure to keep us all posted on your next meet.
  4. Im going to be ordering two sets of the rc channel shocks for my re-re scorcher and vintage ranger.
  5. Hi James, the batteries should be more than up to the job of powering your slash when you upgrade as long you don't go crazy, I had a 8.5t brushless mated with a 60amp esc, and that was plenty fast enough, the Traxxas Slash is a great truck, very durable, in fact almost indestructible. You will not be disappointed. Regards Mark

  7. I will second the Hobbywing Quicrun 1060, excellent no fuss and cheap esc, servo wise the obvious choice would be a traxxas unit like fitted to most of there ready to run Rc's, but ive had a look around as you don't need anything too heavy duty. http://www.modelsport.co.uk/alturn-usa-standard-deluxe-ball-bearing-waterproof-servo/rc-car-products/371888 http://www.modelsport.co.uk/etronix-es092-digital-std-waterproof-metal-geared-servo/rc-car-products/378613 unless your planning on running under water, im not sure i would bother with waterproof, maybe smear a little grease round the joints etc, ive never managed to kill one yet in the wet. other waterproof options are from hobbyking, ive used there servo's for years and there good value. http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__28972__H_King_High_Torque_Metal_Geared_Ball_Bearing_Waterproof_Servo_58g_12_8kg_cm_0_22s_60.html http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__28971__H_King_High_Torque_Waterproof_Analog_Servo_40g_4_5kg_cm_0_13s_60.html
  8. Hi there, thought someone would have jumped in before now, the Lipo subject comes up so much its unreal, but great to see Rc'ers out there moving with the times and wanting to get more runtime and less maintenance and lets be fair lipo's are safe if used and stored correctly. The Core Rc UAC50 looks a great choice, its from a brand that we all know and specs look good. Specification; -AC Input 110V-240V -DC Input 11V-18V -Max Charging Power: 50Watts -Max Discharging Power: 5Watts -Charge current range: 0.1-6A -Discharge current range: 0.1-1A -Nicd/NiMH Battery Cell Count: 1-15Cell -LiPo/Li-Fe/Lilon Cell Count: 1-6Cell -Pb Battery Voltage: 2-20V -Temperature sensor available -Balance: 2-6Cells -Case: Plastic with gunmeatal chrome. -Display: 16*2 character blue backlit display -Dimension: 135mm X 112mm X 61mm -Multiple leads included for all applications -UK 3 Pin plug lead for 240v the Dynamite Prophet Sport Plus is a little lower spec'd but nothing major. Suitable for Multi-Chemistry battery charging (LiPo / NiMH) User selectable 0.1A-5A charge rate Suitable for 1-6S LiPo and 4-12 NiMH cells Mains Power or 12V operation with 50W Internal Switching Power Supply with active cooling 300mAh current drain for cell balancing Easy to use push button operation and cell chemistry selection with easy to read LED indictors High Current EC3 Connector included Solid State reverse polarity and current overload, short circuit and thermal protection Includes 2-6S JST-XH balance board For your batteries you've looked at, the Black Magic is a semi hard case and seems a little square, the Votz on the other hand is a hard rounded pack. Things you need to look at is what vehicles there going in, and will they fit, next is what power systems your running or intend to run in the future, the 4000mah 35 pack will discharge at a constant 140amps, the 3000mah 30c pack will discharge at a constant 90amps. so unless your running silly brushless systems these should be more than upto the job. Give us a little more info on the cars your running, also don't forget you will need to use an esc with lipo cut-off built in or a stand alone lipo alarm/cutoff to stop yourself over discharging your new packs. Regards Mark
  9. Great to see other groups getting together and racing these very iconic Tamiya's, be sure to take some pics and video and post it up for us.
  10. Worth the wait for sure, nice work John, see you on the 9th.
  11. Nice work even if it is a little late lol.
  12. I think alot of the Magic is from getting together with like minded folk and running these vintage Beauties, over here we have regular meets and its great to see so many tamiya's and kyosho's running around a track or just in a park.
  13. Ive looked into this a few times as im also sick of changing batteries. check sizes but http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__9787__Turnigy_1450mAh_3S_11_1v_Transmitter_Lipoly_Pack.html or this if it will fit your radio, its got built in over discharge tech http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__31315__Turnigy_9XR_Safety_Protected_11_1v_3s_2200mAh_1_5C_Transmitter_Pack.html
  14. Hi Mike, im pretty sure the body mounting holes are different, but easily altered im sure, maybe someone else can jump in and confirm this as ive only got an original. As for using a larger frog pinion, i have seen this done but be sure to keep an eye on motor temps as it will put the motor and esc under greater load when setting off as your effectively upping the gear ratio quite alot. Myself i would just fit the sport tuned with stock gearing.
  15. When i first moved away from Tamiya molex plugs, i thought long and hard, i wanted something that was cheap, could take higher current and most of all for me, easy to solder. I first went with losi EC3 and for a while found them perfect, but as some of my cars are brushless i wanted something a bit beefier, so ive been using the losi EC5 connectors for a few years now, i buy in bulk from hobbyking.
  16. You need to head towards the visitor centre, then turn right at the junction before you reach the car park, follow it round and you will find us on the left, next to a hill.

  21. Great Video's matey, John needs to pull his finger out now lol
  22. If anyone was coming via train im sure we could sort a lift out or something.
