  1. Those guys look great and super cool buggy!👍👍
  2. Hornet and Manta Ray are well, both geared up and ready to go I'll let you know next time I'm in the area for sure, and will keep an eye on the thread 👍
  3. I finished the Mercedes C11 Kenwood last night. We went out and took some outdoors pictures today, having finally some good weather. Then celebrated with a beer 🙂ðŸŧ
  4. It snowed heavily all day yesterday and we stayed home, so I finally got to work on the remaining decals. After that, I still felt like progressing so I started taking care of some of the details that still needed sorting out like rear lights, wing and the home brewed front tow ring. A few hours later, the car was completed! There's always room for improvement and details, of course: for instance, I am definitely going to build the antenna and the rearview mirrors from scratch at some point, while the empty shell is screaming for a driver cockpit set, but for the time being, once I tidy up the lights' wiring I am calling it Done I realize that the custom graphics section is supposed to be the interesting part of this otherwise pretty straightforward build thread, so thanks for sticking with it and reading this far. I am pleased with how it turned out, and I hope you too will like the result. I took the first photos yesterday, during a risky livingroom test run. I wanted to capture the color of the front lights, which I've envisioned to be this from the moment I chose the livery. The "official" photoshoot of the finished model happened today, luckily the weather was perfect and worth the wait. Here's the Mercedes Benz C11 Kenwood, nice and fresh. Can't wait to go run it -still no clue where ahahah but I'll figure it out. âšŦðŸ”īâšŦðŸ”īâšŦðŸ”ī
  5. Heya, just saw this. I'm in the Montreal area, it's no Toronto but only a few hours away. I get to the GTA area every now and then, for work or random reasons. While not able to join on a regular basis, I'd love a meet & bash with fellow TC members. I will keep an eye on this thread in case I am ever able to come by, you never know. @Frankster congratulations on your return home!
  6. Wow @Kol__, I just finally made it to the end and... Very interesting, engaging build thread, and fantastic stuff both technically and aesthetically!!! This screams quality all along. Congrats mate, excellent job 👌👍 Wondering how this beast drives as of now?
  7. Congrats on this particularly gorgeous paintjob, it is just wonderfully detailed. The car looks next level I'm just gonna go ahead and ask the old stinky question ... will the body posts get trimmed eventually or will they stay as is?
  8. @Rinskie willy looks spirited enough! @technics nice metallic green on the Honda, turned out great. As for me, I did a "Past meets the Present" kind of photoshoot. It's the first time I put the trucks side by side, and I was impressed at how much bigger the Big Boss is. It was interesting to see them up close and make the comparisons, albeit only the older of the two is technically a monster truck. Two very different generations, but they get along alright in my fleet 🙂
  9. Had a great long outing yesterday. One Big Boss, two full battery packs, and all the Badlands I could throw at it. A messy festival of snow and mud.
  10. I just spent the last couple hours reading through the thread from the start, and enjoyed every bit of it. top work all the way! Fantastic build 😎👍 Loved the side monstruosities chopping spree, the attention to details and the end results of the white plastics phobia 👌 Looking forward to the roll damper installation.
  11. Looks like an OK 917 body, certainly good enough for a runner! Speaking of Porsche 917, recently I've seen some truly mouthwatering bodies on IG, all mounted on the group C chassis. They look like the real thing, especially as they were finished off with proper paintjobs. Upon asking, the guy told me it's from some brand that only seems to be available on part of the Asian market (can't remember the name right now, sorry). I would get one of those in a heartbeat if I got a chance.
  12. @TurnipJF that's certainly a good idea (says me who's been missing out on the last few Postal Races, but the enthusiasm is all there). I only have one issue: I literally have no clue about where I'll be able to run my C11 once it's ready 😅 I've been thinking about it since before I even got the car, and I still have no idea. Street/road/parking lot conditions around my area do not allow the luxury of running such a low clearance chassis without the inevitable damage (cracks, pebbles, debris, all made worse by the severe climate), and the only doable surface I can think of is the inner parking lots, which are usually private, surveilled and just beautifully packed with aggro people and show stoppers of all kinds (me and friends used to hit them with our longboards in the winter, and get chased away like zombies). It's no coincidence I mostly run off roaders! I do know of a place where there's an indoor drift club, fellas there seem friendly if anything. I think they used to have some sort of figure of 8 practice track, so maybe once I'm done the car I will summon up the courage to show up there and ask them if they know of a good place. Maybe I'll even get lucky and get to drive the C11 on their practice track. In fact, I need to learn how to drive this thing before I start thinking about racing it Anyway the idea is great. Also, I'm on NiMh, so anything beyond 15 mins would require pit stops for me. Just saying
  13. It's a very light coat of acrylic paint diluted with about 50% water. Once dry, it gives that translucent look. I tried a few samples on scrap lexan until I got the right transparency
  14. Progress on the C11 body has been slow, but steady. Plenty of work to do still, but there's definitely some light to be seen at the end of the tunnel by now. I think the front light buckets can be considered done. I added some details and even indulged in some extra OCD by painting them ðŸĪŠ and now they are ready to be mounted and to welcome the front LED lights. I did more work on the wing as well, still a few things to do there. This project is sure taking my usual forever, but I like how it's coming together (nursery rhyme to be hung on every man cave wall?)
  15. Slow but steady progress on the C11 body shell. I think I am done detailing the front light buckets, at least for the time being. I tried to make the outer lights look as realistic as possible, while not being functional (I might change that in the future). The inner light area presented the perfect surface for a LED addition, so I just went for that. Rear lights will also be present, as they are so easily installed. While at it, I did more work on the rear wing as well. Maybe it's me getting slow, but it feels like I've spent so much time on the wing alone, and it's not even fully done. The main body shell is currently a big mess of fingerprints and soapy residue, so I'll spare you that sight for the time being. In any case, it's definitely getting there and I like what I see so far. While the car as it is will be done soon, I am considering adding some scratch built rearview mirrors and antenna, along with a cockpit driver if I'll ever be able to find one. There's always the option to scratch build that as well.
  16. Regardless of your damper choice, Associated Green Slime is a total game changer when trying to address the leakage problems. It worked wonders for me in all of my cars, I actually wish I'd known about it before instead of going crazy with all sort of other adjustments.
  17. Not RC related, but this car still took a huge chunk of my time. It was quite the challenge, but I'm pleased with how it turned out so I thought I'd share the end result with the TC folks for once. I am so glad it's finally done. Hope you like it
  18. Looking good already without the rear underpants! very good idea
