  1. Wow, just saw this and can't believe it. Awesome in every way, starting with some gorgeous box art!

One great step in the right direction for Tamiya, and a testeful mix of nostalgia and innovation this time.

I love everything I see about this so far. Only one little note: it'll take me some time to get used to seeing the rear shocks in that far forward position 😅

    TT02R chassis cover…

Pesky little stones we’re getting in the vent holes of the motor and intermittently jamming things up during Racing by Post sessions.

So an acrylic paint tube box was trimmed & zipped tied on, so far so good 👍🏻

Along the lines of this mod... I needed the same protection for the same reasons on my Mad Van.

The UK has Starbucks, here in Canada there is Tim Hortons, in any case a coffee cup is a coffee cup 😅

Hope that green crappy tape will hold as that's all I have on me for the moment. Now headed to the beach to find out if it works!

  3. On another note, I just got notified by Ebay that I got issued a full refund on both the wheels and side bars from Pargu, with no need to send back any item as the seller didn't give me any means to do so 😳 bit puzzled, but you know what, I shouldn't feel bad after all. I was all out for communication while he wasn't, and now I have the wheels and two sets of side bars, one of which is actually good color and will be used for the build, and my money back.

I will use the refund to source the wheels somewhere else, and here it gets interesting: apparently the guy I was going to buy the Yeah Racing Mid wheels from, owns an actual LHS 10 minutes away from where I'm now on vacation, so I will be able to just drive up there! What are the chances... 😅

  4. First use of RC equipment on vacation was... structural. During the first overnight in the Jeep Hotel on the way down, the Mid was propping up both our privacy and our entertainment 20240713-015447.jpg

Upon arrival, the Hornet was immediately out to stretch its legs

And after settling in, straight to the scruffy nearby beach for some sunset action Screenshot-20240713-195152-Video-Player.

So far those spikes have kicked up dirt, sand, gravel, snow, grass... but this is the first time running on shells! Screenshot-20240714-085932-Video-Player.

  5. Nice shots @Aerobert! I am about to do the same. Leaving in a few hrs for a week at the beach. The heat is nice and consistent, but crossing fingers for sunshine and no rain.

This time I will be bringing not one, but three cars 🤠🤪😎

After weeks of pondering (I even thought about opening a poll here), I decided yesterday on which models to bring along.

The Hornet is by now a road trip staple and pretty much tragedy proof, so of course it will come. Second one will be the Mad Van: easy choice, but if I really end up running it on the beach I will devise some temporary cover for the chassis, as it sits relatively low.

The third car I chose is the Mid. I had such a good time running it the other day, I thought why not! I am excited to run it somewhere new, and I'll be good in case I find and RC track along the way. I may spare her the beach, but once there... we'll see.

Many action shots to come, I hope 🌅🚘

  6. I run a Surpass Rocket 13.5t on my Mid, paired with a Hobbywing 10bl120 ESC. I too wanted the Kyosho Le Mans Gold motor, but upon learning its price I was more than ok with settling for a decent alternative at a fraction of the price.

This combo has been working great so far btw, and temps keep quite cool even on grass.

communication is just as important as good work in my opinion. One needs both to do business.

    Yeah, you are right.

Glad you got the wheels you wanted in the end.

I didn't get the wheels unfortunately, just the side bars which were part of the deal. Way less important, but a small consolation and a hope boost that maybe the wheels will come as well 😉 I doubt it, but we'll see.

  8. My situation with Pargu got a bit confusing during the last few days.

After messaging him about the wrong color of the items (wheels/side bars) a while ago and getting no answer, I went ahead and started a refund process, which he accepted. He provided no return label though, and by the time the deadline for that came I had to ask fleabay to step in, or else I would have lost my rights to the refund.
Now I'm waiting for either the return label to be sent to me, or for the refund directly, so no biggie at all. I just wanted to leave this whole thing behind and move on.

Next thing I know, today I came home from work to find another package from Pargu, with only a set of side bars in it. I got confused, but thought oh well, this must be a mistake and now I'm just gonna have to deal with another pair of orage-ish bars to return. But upon opening the box, I got totally puzzled as I realized these are actually the right color, that very Kyosho light gold I've been obsessing over for the past couple weeks

I'm glad, but mostly I am so very confused.

Was this sent on purpose, then? Or just a fortunate mistake? And if a mistake, how come these are all of a sudden of the right color? Man, I know the guy is well known for excellent products and poor communication, but just a few words wouldn't hurt... like this, I've no idea what's going on..? I wish we could communicate, but I feel like dealing with Silent Bob here 😅

And I certainly wouldn't have asked or started the refund in the first place, had I known he was sending off new parts. I feel bad now but again, I had no way of knowing.
Anyway, all I know is that for the next few days I'll be hoping to magically see some light gold wheels in the mail box...😝

Anybody had similar experiences with that store?

  9. Took the Mid out for a well deserved run. I've enjoyed admiring it on the shelf for the past year, but if feels even better to just drive it around in her real habitat.

It's just a joy to drive, feeling simply impeccable. If only there were vintage oriented offroad competitions in my area, I'd join them in a heartbeat with the Mid! Unfortunately there's no such thing.

It jumps very well, with sprint and composure

  10. I've set up some Kyosho running wheels and tires for my Mid. I have once again used my own makeshift inner sponges made from packaging material, in order to save on some otherwise expensive OG parts.

Ghetto meets genuine! And with good results, after just a few minutes of trial and error.

Once in, they already feel like the real deal even before locking the tire into the rim.20240630-191929.jpg

I did this to preserve the Bridgestone repro tires. They'll still see some action from time to time, but mostly on snow.20240630-201054.jpg

Had to do some quick lettering while at it20240701-191652.jpg

...and done. Looking good and sleek, these pepperpot wheels are really a beautiful design. Loving them in white while still on the lookout for some proper gold ones 😅

Next now, a good shakedown run. This car hasn't seen much action in the past year, time to rectify that!
