The bumpers on my Bruiser were in bad shape,. gouges + scratches in the soft plastic etc,. Ive smoothed them with 800 and 1200 grit wet and dry and they now would look ok for the shelf though on closer inspection you can still see some deep flaws ,. I was wondering whether to paint them?,. I figured that if I used some glossy white (plastikote?) paint the shine would take your eye away from the flaws,. anybody else had success painting them?

I find Halfords acrylic primer works fine with Tamiya paints,. just give it a light rub down with 1200 grit paper before you spray the top coat.

Use Glycerin for tyres,. dirt cheap from the chemists (£1.10 from Superdrug),.you only need a little on your finger and work it into the tyre,. I then leave them to dry off for 2-3 days so that some of the stickiness can wear off.

Worst place for "over mayo-ing" - The Kebab Shop ,. Just try and stop the guy squirting when he's halfway through his 'Tom Cruise in Cocktail' routine with the squeezy bottle!,. as i found out last Saturday night [xx(] -
I had the same when stripping down my scorchers gearbox,. the old grease had gone all hard + crumbly in places ,. had to scrape it all out the gears teeth with a little screwdriver,. took ages![xx(]
-
Tried some glycerin on a fairly dry + faded wild willy tyre today ,. rubbed it in with my fingers and wiped off excess after a couple of hours,. now nice n shiny[]

Looking great Simen ,.what make of spray did you use for the tyres?,.

Just interested in what else other members have bought to relive their childhood? ,...for me my first ebay buy was a Big Trak(still need to relive the TV ad and take my Dad an apple in the trailer []) Second purchase was a mint boxed MB Simon game ,... I never got either item when I was a kid (batteries were too expensive I was told []) -
Its nasty stuff , but i recently used caustic soda to strip my Blazer , Clodbuster and Ranger shells,. did all three in an hour with the aid of a toothbrush to gently scrub the paint off,. I used 2kg to 20 litres of water which gives a highly concentrated mixture,. but i wore overalls, heavy duty rubber gloves and goggles. Its very effective but dont try and use the stuff without any protection!

To fit King Blackfoot,. packs of 4 are on on the bay but thought I would try and get hold of a single one first,.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned,. first time i have seen it today though,... I received a question from a supposed ebay member asking if i was still interested in his item,. the email all looked kosher - exactly as it would do if it came through ebay,. clicking the link to the item asked me to login on some dodgy server with an identical to ebay's login page -- it raised my suspicions only as i have been away for a few days and had not been looking or bidding on anything!

I have been looking thru the manuals for my 3 cars ,..seems like they only use 4 X 1150's and a load of bronze bushes ,. as mine appear to have had very little use and will only be careful occasional runners , i was thinking of just uprating the 1150's to ball bearings ,. has anyone else gone down this route?

Does anyone have any info on the numbers made of these 2 models? ,.Ive been comparing my 2 cars with examples in the showrooms and it struck me that they are rarer than first thought,.? ,. I ran the Audi round the kitchen today [] very , very gently!!

I had great results using a white gel pen (about £1.50 from stationers),. the nib seems just the right size.

Yes you can get lucky with 3 speeds[],.. I never thought i would own one,. as of Sunday I now have two for £250,. both of them need a degree of work but i am well happy[8D] ,.. still had to raid the 'real car' fund for the cash though!,. luckily i have a very understanding wife!
-
OMG! ,. I am now a 3 speed owner!
jonny_bravo replied to jonny_bravo's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Hmmm,. I didnt know that[:I],.. Ill test it to make sure it works then probably stick it on the bay, (unless i can get a trade on here). -
I advertise occasionally in a local rag for Tamiya stuff,.. I gets a call yesterday from a guy with a load of cars,. he has moved onto Nitro,. Anyhow,. i walks away with a Blazer (+ 6 channel radio gear) , Bruiser (with 4 channel gear) and a Ford Ranger!!,. All for a great price![][][8D],. the guy was just happy they were going to someone that will appreciate them,. The bruisers shell is a bit battered but salvagable I think ,. the blazer is in very nice condition!,. I charged the 6v battery up... and the transmitter,. but just realised I need 2 35mhz X-tals which i dont have[] ,. I thought I had best subscribe now,.(been hanging around here for a year or so) ,. so hopefully ill post some pics in my showroom later today,. As i already have a Ranger I will probably be putting that up for sale,. need cash to spend on the 3 speeds []
