  1. I’m not far from Kyosho USA headquarters and willing to help if needed.
  2. I fell victim to Tomley’s new video and pre-ordered from Tower Hobbies. This will become close mates with the shrink wrapped 49400 sitting in my closet.
  3. I'm voting for the shock-body up method. Any potential bubble in the body would be opposite the piston, resulting in consistent damping through the range of travel. If the body is mounted down, the piston would sit inside any bubble, thus giving a moment of undampened travel, followed by fully dampened travel as it compresses.
  4. Ooooooooh, Tenergy batteries! Very nice!

  6. I think it could easily be done. You clearly have no hindrances with customizing cars. It would be advisable to use a gear reduction and shorty-can high-turn motor. 4:1 Ultra Compact Gear Reduction Unit for 540 Motor (rc4wd.com)
  7. I’ll give ‘em a wipedown of ArmorAll once per year and rotate 1/3 turn.
  8. For the type of use you are looking for, I suggest the following. My family and I use our cars in the same way that you do, and I occasionally race a local parking lot with friends. Being that family and kids are involved, safety takes priority. My suggestions: Batteries: NiMH, anything with a major brand name and never Chinese unbranded junk. We have Onyx, Venom, SpeedPack, and Tenergy. Tenergy performs the best which I use for non-professional racing. My 3k mah packs offer roughly the same runtime that my friends 4k mah LiPo offer. They hit cut off about the same time I’ve slowed to a crawl. Buy as many packs as you can and store them charged so you’re ready to run on a moments notice. Most Tamiya cars use suspension springs tailored to the weight of NiMH. Motor: Brushless, because of low maintenance, long runtime and smooth operation. TBLM’s are used in cars where I want to keep it Tamiya. Castle Systems are used where top speed or reliability are a priority. For cars intent on bashing I use Hobbywing. Hobbywing has really become a legit manufacturer with real customer support. TX/RX: Futaba is the big name. Spectrum is big, but they are never found at a racetrack. I cant speak to FlySky as it is not a big name here. The Futaba 3PV is regarded as the perfect balance of price and adjustability with fantastic customer support. Charger: Any peak charger with manual adjustability from 1 to 6 amperes, preferably a name brand such as Dynamite, Onyx, Pirhana, etc. Charge at 1A per 1000 mah. Again, store your batteries charged so you’re always ready to run.
  9. Model airplane “canopy glue”
  10. Providing it is not abused, I guarantee it’ll keep working until it doesn’t.
  11. Looks like the coveted Parma front dampers intended for a Frog. Nice score!
  12. For paint, you’ll want a combination N95/organic vapor filter. Moldex makes a great disposable respirator for low level exposures. https://www.moldex.com/product/2400-n95-nuisance-organic-vapor-ozone-respirator/ The key difference is that a respirator has at least 2 straps that go around the head, whereas a dustmask has 1 strap or hooks on the ears. The respirator is designed to seal snugly to the face, providing you are clean shaven. If you worked in a paint booth, you would want a cartridge respirator or “gas mask” as they are referred to in the movies. - An Environmental, Health & Safety professional
  13. It’s possible it went into thermal shutdown (got too hot). In theory, you’re using it within it’s parameters; max 10.5t sensored and NiMH. Give it 1/2 hr to cool off, unplug and wait for the reset. If it still doesn’t work, it is likely dead. Your plan to test with another motor is definitely a good idea to confirm that may still have life left in it. https://www.tamiyausa.com/shop/electronics/rc-esc-tble-02s-brushless/
  14. Wow! Absolutely stunning!
  15. If I am not mistaken, Brat tires are 1.5 inch. 1.55 inch scale crawler wheels will fit the 12mm wheel hex and the Brat tire.

  17. I have a spare & unused Lightly Tuned Motor p/n 53983. Cover shipping, and it's yours. Lightly-Tuned Motor (28T) (tamiya.com)
  18. Best order that burger "no spit", son. - The Clown
  19. Serpent Impact One of my buddies had one about 15 years ago. I still recall that it was the only RC I have ever seen leave a 20ft burnout in the street. The rubber “11” lasted nearly a week. If you put fresh tires and a wedge body on that chassis, it will hang with the fastest of modern brushless cars.
  20. Bravo! Great thread, and that M06 is stunning!
  21. Shop / Tamiya USA Tamiya does have a full line of educational kits
  22. It keeps us off the streets. (None of us are bodied up enough to “supplement our income”).
  23. Excellent choice! Savox makes great servos and offers replacement bits if you get a little too aggressive with it.
