  1. I believe the protocol is AFHDS. Thanks for replies so far - seems like I might just swap out the receiver initially to see if I have a faulty one. I run quite a large fleet and it seems to happen on quite a few of the cars running with this receiver.
  2. Wondering if anyone can help. I have a Flysky GT3b paired with GR3e receiver. I’m typically running with an 18t or 23t brushed motor, Quickrun 1060 and SPT4412 servos, 7.2v NIMH battery in a range of Tamiya Re releases. I’m experiencing very poor range issue - sometimes around 30 metres I loose signal. Just wondering if there might be compatibility issues with the electrics? I run cars on a basketball court - could there be interference issues? The battery in transmitter are fresh so I’ve eliminated that. Any advice appreciated
  3. Thank you - this is good advice and really value all the input I’ve had on this.
  4. I charge at 2A and battery is 7.2v 2400mah - takes around 40 minutes. Brand is Tornado RC and charger is SkyRc.
  5. Thanks for all the responses- yes I have checked that I’m in NIMH mode. I run a GPS speed meter and would have expected around 25mph on this set up based on the gearing (stock pinion). What’s more concerning is the very short run time and I’ve checked multiple batteries. Motor and ESC are not getting particular hot. My next step might be to swap out motor.
  6. Greatly appreciate some advice. Just completed Dirtmaster build. I’m running a Kyosho G15 brushed motor, Hobbywing 1060 ESC and a 7.2v NIMH. Build all went well but on first run I only had 2-3 mins from battery. Second run similar and not great speed (22 mph). I tested battery on my Optima Mid and no problems which has the same set-up. There doesn’t appear to be binding in transmission - I’ve checked pinion mesh. Any suggestions?
  7. Thanks for the reply - batteries are fresh with no antenna damage
  8. Thanks for the replies - no antenna damage as far as I can see and batteries are fresh - I’ll try extending aerial fully and see if that helps
  9. I have the cheap Flysky GR3E receivers in all of my cars and use a GT3B transmitter. I have noticed that the range is very poor - around 50-60 metres and then I loose signal. I have fresh batteries in the transmitter. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I don't always extend the aerial as I thought it wasn't required for this technology. Would this partly explain the poor range? Any suggestions appreciated.
  10. Really appreciate the response - I think you may have identified the problem as it only has occurred with metallic paints and I am meticulous about cleaning body prior to painting. The first mist coats came out a bit patchy and I thought that as I build up the layers it wouldn’t show - I was wrong !
  11. Thanks for advice - it seems I am following this and am still getting blotching occurring - I have been using Tamiya masking tape for the fine detail but blue 3m painters tape for large areas of the body - wonder if the PS paint is reacting to residue from the tape? Otherwise it might simply be due to the initial cost being uneven perhaps due to insufficient shaking of can or can too cold?
  12. Wondering if anyone can help. The last few bodies I have painted I have used PS Gunmetal or bright gunmetal. On both occasions I have ended up with a blotchy paint finish with some areas darker in appearance. I have sprayed numerous bodies with solid colour and not had this before. I’m wondering if it a result of spray technique, residue from masking tape, dirty hands or a combination of these. I spray very light coats to start with. Any suggestions?
  13. Problem fixed now but thanks for the comments - it was a malfunctioning ESC causing loss of power
  14. Impressed with the G15 - it appears on par with the Superstock BZ I often run in my Tamiya buggies
  15. Thank you all who have responded - just by way of an update I have solved the problem! The culprit was the ESC - I think the motor was demanding too much resulting in intermittent lag when the throttle was applied. The ESC is rated down to 12t and the motor was a 14x2? Anyway I switched back to my trusty Quickrun 1060 paired with a Kyosho G15 and all is good now.
  16. Thank you for the advice - I think I’m going to replace all the electrics and see if that resolves the problem. The more I think about it I don’t think the belt is the problem. Perhaps the motor is drawing too much current under acceleration?
  17. Yes I did glue the tyres on this one - I don’t normally but thought with this motor I will get blistering performance! On the contrary - it just seems sluggish. It will accelerate and then lose power and then pick up again - perhaps it’s not a mechanical issue and I might swap out all electrics. I’ve not used the MTroniks ESC before - mostly use Hobbywing 1060
  18. Yes the Mid does come with a slipper - thanks for that comment. I’m really unsure if it is the belt slipping - might even be ESC related. It seems to momentarily lose power
  19. Thank you - that was my feeling but I have set as per the manual.
  20. Thank you - that was my feeling but I have set as per the manual.
  21. Just some advice required from all you Kyosho experts. Have just built the Optima Mid 2022 re-release and took it out on its maiden run. I was underwhelmed by performance considering the electrics installed - LRP 14x2 brushed motor with a Viper 12t limit ESC and 7.2v NIHM battery. On second run I noticed that something appears to be slipping (either belt or diffs?) as it sometimes lags under acceleration. I am experienced with Tamiya but have limited knowledge of belt-driven kits (that said, my belt-driven Turbo Optima does not have this issue). The belt tension is set to 8 I think (as recommended in the instructions) and I'm pretty sure there are no errors in the build. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
  22. Hotshot ll Boomerang Dyna Storm Super Sabre
  23. Thanks - another good brand to look out for (made in USA) I believe
  24. That’s great - much appreciated
  25. Just wondering if pinions from different manufacturers have the exact profile/shape of teeth? I need a 0.6M pinion and I’m wondering if it is good practice to use say a Yeah racing or Schumacher pinion for Tamiya. Is it best to stick with Tamiya pinions to ensure the profile is identical? any feedback much appreciated
