  1. Do RC Mart orders not incur customs charges when they land in the UK? Distributing from HK I just assumed UK duty and VAT would be applied on top? So I find Tony's tamiya parts and/or Tamico cheaper when doing the calc... plus of couse much quicker delivery.
  2. Either. Beggars can't be choosers. But fair price plz.
  3. Reassembly and testing has revealed gears slipping in the rear box. Looks like it’s the one next to the diff. As you said, vintage and worn. Also spotted front left joint is slipping on the alloy hex, so front left wheel showing wobble/sip. So a few bits to replace to get this running smoothly. My first experience of worn gears. Thanks for the help.
  4. Hi Snappy, I had just restored it, so a full strip down and rebuild. I wasn’t thinking it could have been a cracked / broken part. That said something is up, so I went at it this morning. Discovered the motor was loose so removed and re-seated the upper deck. All fine now, normal clearance. So as you said it might be gear wear or a seating/position issue with the motor. I’ll put it back together and hope it’s not gear wear. Otherwise new gears. Thanks!
  5. I'm after a late 80's / early 90's CPR unit to go in a Vanquish or 2001 so ideally a P100F, but due to rarity will consider any from the era. Thanks, Paul.
  6. Hi all, I could do with some tips on why my prop shaft is rubbing against the upper deck of my Vanquish runner. Hopefully the pic shows it clearly enough. Thanks!
  7. Work and life took me away from sorting this. I caved and bought a new tub chassis. I also picked up new front and rear bumpers from trusty Tamico. I managed to get a beat up one on eBay to make a ‘runner’ as I always thought the Vanquish drove brilliantly when I managed to have a go back in the day on a friends one. So, the results of the original one I restored. I put a D2H in it instead of a silver can. Wheels and MSC are from the 2nd one I bought Wing is TBG. Only the Tub and bumpers were purchased, so not too bad a job in the end. At least it’s a Vanquish 😉
  8. Thanks! So basically anything for sale from a distributor now will be the same as the initial run without the bonus wheels? i couldn’t work out why I saw Avante 2011 for more than a black special when I had thought the black special had the upgraded race steering and slip centre diff. Maybe demand/desire. Cheers!
  9. Hi folks, I have a fairly battered Avante 2001 I am attempting to restore. On stripping it back I discovered the front gearbox was overtightened (or maybe crash stress) where it connects to the G8 part. Both hexagon holes are broken. I've glued them to the point where they are not too noticeable and will hold suffcient to hold the front end and display... but this is no shelf queen so I am looking to replace (re-re is obviously fine) and get some gentle running in. The only other part that the model is missing is the black Cam-Loc hubs. The wheels are original although had been painted, so I'll strip them back and try to restore the white. I've tried eBay and Tamico to no avail. with the Re-Re Avante's I'd hoped the A-parts and Cam-locs would be out there... somewhere! Cheers! Paul.
  10. I'm thinking of taking the plunge also for my first non-vintage Tamiya, and the obvious candidate is a 2011 Avante, but... does anyone know what the difference is between the variants? : 58489 - Avante 2011 84270 - Avante 2011 Black Special 2012 release 47390 - Avante 2011 Black Special 2018 release
  11. Ok, more involved than I thought. Thanks for the help. I’ll have to sit down and work it out...
  12. I guess the problem with the above is that I’ll be turning a Vanquish into an egress. 😭
  13. I have an original egress chassis, shock towers and shocks coming. I think that’s all I need for the conversion. I couldn’t find any resources on the conversion itself, I don’t think it’s requiring the ‘Avante Chassis set’ from back in the day - at least I hope it doesn’t!
  14. Damage is to the rear, which has snapped off.
  15. Yes, not at home until the weekend so I’ll post then. Cheers! 👍
  16. Hi everyone. My first post. I have a Vanquish which I’d love to restore as a runner. I’ve stripped it down completely and the only parts broken (unfortunately) are: - Rear section - final two screw holes - of the main chassis tub missing (broken off). - missing rear bumper (for above reason probably) - front bumper is toast - link pins bent - shell and wing broken and cracked I think my only two options are : 1. Rebuild it with out the bumpers (no point IMHO), with TBG body and MCI decals 2. Go Carbon, maybe even go Page 28 upgrade in the manual. 😃. But I don’t have the HiCaps ☹️. Anyone want to give a view on this one? Thanks! Paul.
