  1. This morning I finally finished the stickering on this AMG GT3, my take on the Team Black Falcon Bilstein-livery car from the 2016 Nurburgring 24hr race I've lost count of how many hours went into cutting, trimming, masking, painting (black / blue / smoke) and stickering this...in the region of 30hrs. The stickers are a combination of the Tamiya GT3 set and the Black Falcon Bilstein livery which I bought as a 1/24 decal set which I then scanned and worked with Nath at MCI to convert to 1/10 stickers. It's not perfect, some of the key livery stickers were about 8% too large so needed carefully trimming to fit, and some of the registration is marginally out causing a few white keylines, but I'm pretty chuffed with it. The Tamiya sticker set contains some of the most fiddly stickers I've ever worked with...the front light clusters alone have got 10 stickers in them, six of which are no bigger than 2x2mm! And those tyre stickers are a faff, too. Worth it though, I reckon... (EDIT: I have now realised that all four tyres are on the wrong way round Easy enough to swap the wheels around, but I CBA to retake the photos so this will just have to live on as another example of my ability to bake a dumb mistake into every project )
  2. Having received the final parts yesterday, I finished my TRF415MSX restoration / rebuild What started out as a bit of a TRF415 / 415MS hotchpotch... Is now a fully restored, pretty-much-kit-spec 415MSX using any original parts that were mint and new replacement parts where necessary The only changes over kit-spec are: chassis conversion for stick-type batteries blue aluminium rear diff joints tungsten carbide diff balls in rear diff titanium hex screws Very satisfying to bring something back to how the Tamiya-gods intended
  3. Thanks for the heads-up, I've been gradually building a basket over the last few weeks and this compelled me to hit 'Buy'! 36 items, mostly sundries but a few chassis-specific parts too, all in stock πŸ‘
  4. I absolutely loved working on this. It was a real treat to work with such a high spec chassis, to take what was a bit of a basket-case and return it to full spec and mint condition, hunting for new parts and wheeling and dealing a few old ones along the way Thing is...I've no real need for it, I'm not going to use it and I can't see myself cutting a body shell to suit those post positions. So, I'm going to sell it. Coming soon to an eBay near you, hopefully it will find a new home with someone who will put it to good use πŸ˜€ \
  5. Wheels, tyres and a nice fresh set of lock nuts... And that's it finished πŸ˜€ What arrived as a halfway 415 / 415MS is now fully restored and upgraded to full 415MSX spec. The guiding principles were: if the part looks new, keep it if the part looks pretty good, serviceable but not mint; clean it, sell it and buy a new one finish with a mint-condition full spec TRF415MSX Over and above manual-spec, the only Hop Ups are: 49385 TRF415MSX Chassis Conversion Kit for Stick Batteries 49426 Blue Aluminium Ball Diff Joint (for rear diff) 53124 Tungsten Carbide Diff Balls (for rear diff) Titanium hex screws throughout
  6. And then once the new belt-stabiliser is built up with the new antenna holder... I was able to fit the top deck, which is a bespoke part that came with the stick-battery conversion set
  7. Steering assembly next, fully shimmed to make it as silky smooth as possible. It really is silky smooth
  8. Then the spur gear assembly, with all completely brand new parts Turns out that it's impossible to fit this with the front belt fastened in place, it's just too tight to be able to manoeuvre the rear belt on. So I had to take the front bulkhead apart and lift the front one-way out first. Getting it out was easy, getting it back in and lining up the belt tensioners / bearing holders with the correct slot in the front bulkheads with the front suspension all assembled...not so much. It got quite sweary
  9. Rear universals first, which completes the rear end. Once again the assembly includes the 5x1.9mm spacer inbetween the bearings
  10. As mentioned in 'The Postman Bought Me' thread, yesterday I received the final pieces needed to complete this restoration project (along with a couple of other bits and bobs). So, without further ado...
  11. Thanks to invaluable help from @Tamiyastef, I've finally been able to get hold of the parts I need to finish my TRF415MSX restoration project (plus a couple of other bits and bobs). These were extradited from Poland to Belgium, then shipped on to the UK via a couple of appointments with customs and immigration, but they made it in the end and with no additional import charges 😊
  12. Thanks @Re-Bugged, and hi @acprc πŸ˜€ I'm having trouble editing a post in the 'So what have you done today?' thread, specifically this post Any help greatly appreciated πŸ‘
  13. Nissan Skyline R33 / N1 Complete Body Set is now SOLD!
  14. Great thread, nice one @Dakratfink Music was my first love and hobby, and will always be the one that endures as others come and go I started collecting vinyl in 1984 when I bought OMD's Dazzle Ships with a WHSmith Gift Voucher I got for my 10th birthday. I still have it The collection has ebbed and flowed over the years, beginning with deep immersion into 80s synth and agit-pop (Depeche Mode, OMD, Talk Talk, The The, Spear of Destiny etc) and then, when I was 15, the Stone Roses LP came out Then I heard the Pixies, and that was me firmly ensconced in Indie Rock. I turned 18 in 1992 at the peak of rave culture and the Criminal Justice Bill, so spent my Uni years and beyond at house and warehouse parties immersing myself in deep house and techno. More lately I've settled into an alt-rock, indie and folk groove with some bleeps and beats thrown in for good measure. Everything is catalogued at Discogs.com and apparently currently stands at 2,320 items... Most of the LPs and 12s are in these cubes, with a couple of racks of 7s on top. But the box sets are now infiltrating into the book cases... And there are 7s all over the place...and maybe 3 records bags full of old House and Techno 12s in the cupboard under the stairs I spent many hours in my local Audio T testing and building the system, which is built around a Rega P6 with Ania MC cartridge and associated phono stage. These run into an Arcam A29, one of the last of Arcam's pure analogue hifi amps which I absolutely love. All streaming comes in through a Sonos Port, part of a house-wide Sonos network with Plays / Ones in most rooms. The main system comes out through a pair of KEF LS50 Black Editions, which are just fabulous speakers. They're a limited edition of the LS50s and somehow, in pure dumb luck, I ended up with number 0001 which seriously tickles my collector vibes 😎 @Nicadraus I keep umming and ahhing about jacking in the brand / marketing / copywriting thing and opening a record shop / cafe. It would make me so happy, but retail just looks so tough right now particularly in the UK with the greedy landlords and exorbitant rents
  15. Ok, well on the one hand I'm glad it's not just me but on the other it seems like there's a gremlin in the machine I don't know who the admins are any more to tag one in to see if they can take a look...anyone know who best to tag and ask for help?
  16. I posted something a couple of hours ago and have just tried to change a couple of words and got this error message Anyone else seeing this? As I say, it's not an old post, only a couple of hours and it's pretty normal to be able to edit posts, no?
  17. This morning I finished the stickering on these two So, why on earth have I got two of these? Well, one is a genuine 50430 body set which came pre-drilled for the TA03 etc. Overall I did a better job of the stickering on this one, learning from the tiny mistakes I made on the other one. This one's all good, buy I'm not sure if I'm going to use it. Because of the other one.... The other one is a tale of many mistakes, one on top of the other, with multiple points where I could have pulled up stumps rather than bludgeoning on and compounding the error(s). But bludgeon on I did... The other is the re-released 51365 body set which came undrilled. I initially thought I would get it to fit a TB Evo III bits-a-build, and drilled it to fit. Unfortunately at that point the chassis had the Surikarn rear shock tower fitted, which is wider than standard. Double unfortunately, I then discovered that the 'proper' two part wheels didn't fit, they fouled on the suspension and were fractionally too wide to fit inside the arches. At that point I decided to not use the shell on this chassis, and also removed the Surikarn damper mounts and used the standard parts instead. It now wears an Audi A4 shell with med-narrow rims that fit perfectly, and because of where the body posts are drilled it's transferrable to another chassis if needs be. Happy days This is where I should have stopped with the R32, bitten the bullet and just thrown the shell in the bin. But I thought that maybe those wide rear body post holes would suit the TRF415MSX that I'm restoring? Worth a shot, no? So, in my next mistake, I decided to crack on, paint it and use the stupidly rare original sticker sheets I found on Buyee to finish it Only once I had finished it did I discover that although the rear body holes are wide enough for the TRF415, the TRF415's rear damper mount is much further back than the Evo III (or most other touring cars, by the look of it) Spacers, such as the B1 Parts from the Evo 5 etc do sort out the rear body post positions. But the front wheels on the TRF415 are too far back, and the spacers either side of the front suspension mounts are already as rear-biased as possible...there's not enough at the front to shift to the back to push the wheels forward enough. So it doesn't fit. So, as far as I can tell, I now have a beautiful Calsonic R32 body that will only fit a TB02, TB02-R or Evo III. And only if those chassis are fitted with the Surikarn rear shock tower. And in all instances, the proper two-piece wheels don't fit. Niche, huh? The 53471 Med-Nar wheels are probably the closest to the Nismo R32 design, and Cross RC did make some 24 and 22mm wheels years ago that look really good. But, in another error, when a set of those came up on Buyee I forgot to set a reminder and missed the auction. Like I said, mistake upon mistake upon mistake. Still, live and learn hey?
  18. @Andyfish2000 It’s been a while since I did this but it is pretty easy, you just need the right parts. I think you need: Tamiya 50808 wide TG10 axles Tamiya 54610 9mm hex hubs not sure if that all works with standard tt02 plastic dog bones and diff joints, if not then 50883 drive shafts and 19804237 diff joints should do it alternatively you could use WR02 universals (54394) and diff joints for universals (54477) along with the 54610 hex hubs
