  1. The Alfa Giulia is now sold so that just leaves the CLK-GTR boxed body set...anyone?
  2. I hear ya! I've got the wheel nuts in red and blue, and have got the tyre stickers too but not sure they'll fit. I would love to, but I haven't had much luck getting stickers to fit 24mm tyres. The profile is that bit lower than 26mm tyres and there doesn't seem to be enough room Of course, I could just be doing it wrong 😬
  3. Following on from this earlier post about the dilemma of finding the right 24mm rims for my Calsonic Skyline TB Evo III... Found 'em! In the end I didn't even need to wait for them to pop up on Japanese Yahoo, I found them in a hobby shop in HK They're close enough to the right design, certainly closer than anything Tamiya offers at 24mm. Next step...a coat of TS-26 to brighten them up and then some slow and patient work with a chrome pen to add a bit of detailing to the barrel and 'nuts'
  4. Cheers! I got the body set, inevitably, from Japanese Yahoo. Including fees and domestic shipping it was a tick over £60 and I managed to offset the international shipping by selling a few bits and bobs I shipped with it. Well worth the hassle though, I absolutely love it I also really love the blue / yellow Bilstein livery, I did something similar on an AMG GT3 shell that sits on my TB02-R bits-a-build using a sticker set I managed to get Nath at MCI to produce for me using a 1/24 decal set as a base and adding in lots of patience and a fair amount of arm twisting! Again, worth the hassle though 😊
  5. Tamiya 51471 Audi R8 LMS Body Set on a TA04-RR built entirely from parts with the addition of: upgraded one-piece diff joints carbon fibre front and rear damper stays carbon fibre battery straps silver aluminium steering arms
  6. Almost a full year after I last worked on this Audi R8 LMS shell, I finally finished it! It's a great fit on the TA04-RR bits-a-build, so that's another one finished 😀
  7. I'm on a roll... This morning I finally finished the stickering on this Audi R8 LMS. It's the 51471 body set, one of my absolute favourites of Tamiya's It sits on a TA04-RR bits-a-build...essentially a TA04-R built entirely from parts with Hop Up carbon fibre damper stays, diff joints and aluminium steering Another project finished
  8. With added pre-printed tyre lettering 😍
  9. Thanks Chris, this inspired me to do a bit of reading this afternoon. I found this article to be pretty good as a 'beginner's guide' https://www.dailysportscar.com/2020/03/18/rhapsody-in-blue-the-history-of-calsonic-and-nissan-racing.html
  10. Just had a look and you're right, that is a clear difference. The R33 body set is 50740, which looks like it uses 50739 rims or the super lovely 53131 aluminium versions That 58314 body set that @svenb has got looks different again...do you know what Skyline variant that is? Thanks very much 👍 The Gr.A Calsonic body set pops up on Japanese Yahoo fairly regularly for not too silly money. I've just seen an R33 set there though which was 'ouch!' money
  11. Thanks Steve! I'm no Nismo expert so I've found the whole Skyline body set thing a bit of a rabbit-hole TBH...particularly when it comes to finding the 'right' rims for each one (which is why I've got two sets of Skyline rims for sale on eBay right now 🙄) From what I can tell, in layman's terms compared to the R34, the R33 has a different design around the lights and intercooler, a longer panel behind the rear arches and sits on silver Y spoke rims That 58314 also has a different front end to the R34, and overall looks flatter...maybe a bit more squat and curvy around the front arches? I'm probably talking absolute bobbins and a true Nissan aficionado will come along with the real detail soon, but those are the differences I can see with mine eyes 👀
  12. Actually, guilty secret...I got an F-Pro David Jun NIB kit at a decent price from Japan and broke it out 😬 I already had a DJ chassis that I bought off eBay a couple of years ago and restored to mint (see earlier in the thread) but it came with no box or manual. So I bought the NIB kit from Japan and kept the box, manual, parts bag header cards and the black J Parts and sold everything else. After postage and fees I got back £35 more than I paid for it (including import shipping and fees). So the J Parts, box etc cost me nothing more than the time and effort to photograph and list everything...I'll take that!
  13. Front and rear light buckets fitted along with the transparent headlamp stickers from the 51365 body set, the only non-vintage stickers used
  14. Summer-time means painting time, the warm air making the garage a less terrible place to be and the paint behave more predictably than it does in the winter So I've been taking the opportunity to work on a few body shells and finish off some stickering to actually complete a couple of these bits-a-build projects First up, the TB Evo III... In the end I decided to make use of the R32 Gr.A body shell that I had drilled to fit the Surikarn body post positions and refit the Surikarn damper stays. It just made this Evo III that little bit more 'mine', essentially a blue-Surikarn: full Evo III blue conversion kit blue aluminium upper arm mounts Surikarn front and rear carbon damper stays aluminium rear uprights blue TB02-R damper cylinders blue aluminium front body posts TA05 blue aluminium battery mount posts reinforced ball diff joint hex head screws throughout Once I decided to use the R32 shell and vintage sticker sets to create the classic Calsonic livery, I also had to find some 24mm rims to match as 26mm rims are incompatible with the suspension There is a set of vintage Cross RC rims which are perfect but I got distracted and missed the end of a Japanese Yahoo auction so missed out on the only set I have seen so far. Another one will come up some day, so for now I've settled on these 47302 rims with pre-glued tyres which aren't too bad a substitute for the proper Nismo wheel design...they'll certainly do for now!
  15. Following on from an earlier post in this thread (A Tale of Two Skylines), I made a decision...to sell the finished vintage 50430 body set (now sold) and keep the other one that I had drilled for the Surikarn body posts on my TB Evo III bits-a-build. It is such a specific set up that I was unlikely to be able to sell it and there was no way I could just chuck it out, so I kind of had to make the best of it. This meant I needed to find suitable 24mm rims for the Evo III and in the end (at least for now) I have settled on these 47302 5-spoke white rims with pre-glued tyres They're not the worst match in the world for the R32 Gr.A in the short-medium term. I know there are some vintage Cross rims that will be perfect but having missed out on a set I need to wait for another to appear on the Japanese auctions But these look pretty good, particularly when placed side by side with my Calsonic R34 which I also just finished stickering over the weekend. Sitting on its correct 6-spoke white rims, the two make a pretty good looking pair I think
  16. Remember this? It already had a bit of a TRF vibe with the red aluminium pulleys, TRF dampers, belt, front universals, servo attachments, stabilisers and hardware. It also has a carbon steering link, carbon stabiliser holders, ball diffs, aluminium counter shafts and a few other goodies hidden under the gearcases Well, after a few months hunting down the necessary parts I'm ready to give it even more of that TA03 TeRriFicness with a full carbon conversion 😃 carbon upper and lower decks ridiculously hard to find J Parts in black even more ridiculously hard to find K parts, also in black (all hail the kit-breakers!) front one way to replace the front ball diff lovely red 5mm adjusters red aluminium kingpins aluminium heat sink all the necessary red hardware for the conversion Coming soon!
