Hi Terry, Thanks for the kind offer, however I think postage costs to the UK would be more than the parts. Jimbo- 228 replies

Hi, I think most of those looking to modernise the QD’s just do it because they either bought them cheaply or like me have owned it since I was little. I saw Wolfdogs YouTube video and was inspired to sort mine out. I followed his photos, I think there are two QD thunder dragon and monster beetle threads which I used as a guide. The is super fast and fun, however for the cost I probably could have bought something else. It was a fun project and it taught me about RC cars. enjoy! Jimbo- 228 replies

Hi, i used this servo saver see photo below, but maybe a few hi speed crashes have stripped the plastic teeth and now the servo doesn’t engage with the servo saver. Is this a common issue with RC cars? Should I buy this servo saver again or are there better ones out there you could recommend? cheers- 228 replies

Hi Wolfdogstinkus, Thanks for the photos and the tip on gluing the servo down. My steering has been dodgy for a while and been meaning to take a look at it. The servo saver slips and means the wheels easily get knocked out of alignment, annoying. Everything else is great, especially the crazy speed just with running a 2s lipo. Where can I get a better steering saver kit from, mine doesn’t work so well? Looking forward to get the thunder dragon back out for some crazy runs. Cheers Jimbo- 228 replies

Hi, I will have a go at listing what I bought to convert my old Thunder Dragon QD Tyres M chassis 51427 rally block tyres Flysky FS GT2 controller 3mm threaded bar for the axles Tamiya 50595 5mm ball connectors Hitec Hs-645MG servo Tamiya 5mm adjusters Tamiya 51000 Hi-torque servo saver Hobbywing EZrun-2030 12T brushless motor - 18A ESc and card M2.5 8mm bolts for engine 2s or 3s lipo Connectors to convert the EZrun connectors to the battery I used deans. i think that’s it. I’m new to this stuff and know very little, however I just completely copied Wolfdogstinkus, he was really helpful. Worth looking for his original threads on here which is where I got most of the list of parts from. The price adds up but I enjoyed doing it. I still need to buy some rechargeable AAs for the flysky controller then I can start using it again. It is fast!!! I hope this helps.... Jimbo- 228 replies

Hi Beastbike, Can you give me any tips on how to line up the screws to fix my motor in position? You mentioned you countersunk yours, could you explain that for me? l looked at my motor and the connection with the gears was Very poor, so I could do with some way of being able to position the pinion correctly. Wolfdog, Have you lowered your car? Please can we see some videos of your speed machine? thanks Jimbo- 228 replies

That’s great...that’s given me the incentive to do some fine tuning on the gear box and check out the motor position to get the correct mesh. This is my first time working on RC stuff so it’s I’m learning all the time. Videos are great! Thanks- 228 replies

Wow, the Thunder Dragon looks amazing. You have really thought everything through and done such a quality job. I’m really liking the wheels where can I get some from they make it look ace? Do they fit straight on? Are they larger than the standard wheels? I’m loving the photos as mine is a thrown together mess at the moment, however I enjoy working on it when I find the time and intend to use some of your suggestions to improve my old QD TD. Please let me know if your car jumps out of gear and if you have an ideas on how to solve this issue? Great photos!- 228 replies

Have you slammed the QD thunder dragon’s suspension? It looks lower than mine. Also is there a way of locking it into one gear? Mine keeps jumping out of gear when it gets air, I’m not fussy about keeping the high low gear choices. Must admit it’s fun to drive and even with a 2S battery, it rips along. Thanks for the inspiration to do the brushless conversion. I enjoyed your video clip! Jimbo- 228 replies

I got them off EBay for a tenner, other sellers were asking £20! There were some new QD wheels with tyres on EBay recently. -

Hi, Here are a few photos of the brushless conversion of my old QD Thunder Dragon. I got the idea from your YouTube video. it does need refining it’s still just thrown together but it goes super fast compared to running as standard before.- 228 replies

Hi, Thank you for the pictures. I have it running and it goes really quick, it’s only just been put together. I have some some issues with it jumping out of gear occasionally. I think this maybe due to the one bolt. Need a flatter headed bolt as the second bolt obstructed the low gear and it couldn’t be switched from high to low. Need to look at resolving that. Lost a tyre after the first run with my daughter controlling it, so they need gluing on. Bought a Floureon 2S battery which fits in and everything else I followed your photos. It’s exactly the same spec, even the same servo in there. i just need the metal bearings, but have to wait as I’m getting disapproving comments on how much the little car has cost. I will take some photos/video clips of it. Hopefully I can fix this jumping out of gear problem and it will be great fun. Thanks for your help with getting it converted. Jimbo- 228 replies
