  1. Now we best get the car actually moving! He gave me the Tamiya esc and a 540 can. But again while in the garage I stumbled across a little brushless set up! This has only been chucked in the car to make sure it works at the moment. But a little hobbywing 60a esc and 3200 motor should see the hornet moving along a bit quicker than the 540 can! you will notice crocodile clips for battery clips. Don’t worry new leads have been ordered! God knows what I was thinking! A old futuba white servo for good measure and we should be nearly there! I am missing the servo mounts though so will have to have a bit of a scout about for those! one thing I have come up against though. The battery tray size! I had a lipo. It doesn’t fit! And the first gold lipo has well.... seen better days ha! one for the bin! but I was surprised to find this didn’t fit! a quick eBay visit and came across a turnigy battery. £12. It arrived. It certainly fits that’s for sure. But I’m also worried I’m going to get about 12 seconds of run time! All I want is 20 minutes or so! Fingers crossed! Or can anyone make any recommendations? Without having to chop the car up? so that’s where we’re kind of up to! I keep reading about the 3rd link mod for the rear so may look into this? But again people say you have to chop a section out the axle housing? Did spot this on google but I’m not sure how he’s fixed the piece on top! hope it hasn’t bored everyone to death reading!
  2. Many many years ago I loved a tinker with arc car here and there. Many models bought, many models sold. Time went by, and other things in life popped up and the hobby turned into a ‘i will have a go next weekend’ sort of deal. A weekend turned to a month, a month a year etc etc, and everything was shelved and forgot about! But I always fancied another little basher at some point! recently a friend who has no patience and to many hobbies bought a hornet! Half built it. Then gave up! While round his house one day, I spotted it in a back of a cupboard. ‘have it mate! I’m never going to finish it! And so the little free hornet was mine! Over the moon! im trying to keep costs to a minimum, so the old parts pot was raided! He gave it to me with a clear shell, no decals, lights etc. Which is a shame but it’s purely for fun so will crack on! quick rummage. Half a can of neon pink found, half a white. IDEA. Cost to finish shell £0. Purists will hate it. But I actually quite like it haha! LOVELY JOB! next up, after a bit more of a rummage in the box. I found a packet of Carson bearings for a tt01. Ive never owned a tt01 so no idea how I came about it. But at least they fit! And it’s fully ball raced! Another freebie for the hornet.
  3. Gutted I just spotted this as I wouldn’t have minded a bit for my hornet!!! The postage is eye watering!
  4. Perfect! Can You do a multiple photo upload on the site aswell?
  5. Out of interest, using the post image, do you just copy the url link and paste it in here?
  6. For a split second I couldn’t figure out why a buggy would have such a big Square chassis! then realised its a black lid
  7. This build is absoultely sensational! Not a massive nitro fan, but this! You can’t help not be! Fair play to your level of detail!
  8. Some solid suggestions there! Thank you all very much!
  9. Only thing that shocks me is the price of shipping on the ampro site! Nearly £7 for a tiny holder ha!
  10. Fully understand! That’s rather neat actually! I assume the little mod stops the left right pivot of the whole rear axle assembly aswell? Might be a well worth purchase that! actually really enjoying tinkering with a little model again. Cost me nothing so far! And managed to find some Bearings from a old project I never used so it’s all fully ball raced!
  11. That’s brilliant help! I didn’t realise you had any suspension bob! Haven’t run it yet ha! But I did think myself it’s all a bit floppy out back! how does it stop the bob out of interest? I seen some people mention a little pivot mod on the rear axle aswell to the tub?
  12. All very new to this after being out the hobby for a little while but a friend has given me a hornet! Half completed and bits missing but I’m working through it slowly but surely! I hear the hornet can be a bit prone to loosing the battery as the trays underneath? Has anyone altered there’s easily to hold it firmly in place?! last thing I want is bits falling out! cheers!
  13. That sounds ideal! Will see if I can find a slightly more larger size, but they seem to get bigger as they grow in power!
  14. Hello! first post and this seems the place for it! A friend gave me a half finished Tamiya hornet. I’ve always tinkered with models in the past but it’s certainly been a while! ive got a 60a brushless Speedo and motor that is like to use but was surprised to see the battery tray didn’t hold my old lipo I had! Without butchering the car! anyone have any recommendations for a lipo that might fit? It’s purely for a bit of fun so don’t need a super expensive one! I’ve seen a few on hobby king including a zippy one at 2200mah which seems dimensions listed would fit? but what would I get run time wise? If I had half hour of bashing I’d be more than happy! But longer the better! thank you!
