Slightly being the word. I can’t really tell but I think so!

In some places the undercoat of yellow has come off too so it’s probably gonna be a case of masking off the window rubber and respaying I might have a go.. but first, restoring a driver head by painting the helmet in red, before redoing the face and then the black around the helmet... and also currently painting the body too in white...

I actually tried that. I should have waited longer because it smudged and left a right mess! Now it seems somewhat ingrained into the yellow. So I’m left with sanding and redoing it, pairing over it with yellow, or just having fun with it. I might pick up another shell and decals for the shelf and leave this as a runny shell. I quite like the idea of making the scratches into rust marks like I saw someone has done... but my skills are pretty bad with painting so we will see

So the DF03 dampers come with V and X parts. Rears use X eyelets and the fronts use V eyelets. Anyone know what the difference is?! They look the same to me?

Thanks! Never thought about using a marker. I’ve been using a small brush so far. Had a quick look and it seems you can’t get Tamiya markers in the UK anymore.. so I might try order some generic ones off Amazon and give them a go. Thanks again!

I’ve actually got some on order and waiting for them to arrive so that’s good news! Thank you.

Hi, I’m looking for some ball collars that’ll fit these dampers. I have bought some 54503 ones from the DB01, however they seem like they are too big ? Either that or they need a tremendous amount of force to press into the eye cups. I’ve some 4x6mm brass pipe bushings I could use instead but these seem a little lose and I had thought that ball collars would be better. My end objective here is to for these dampers to my Hotshot2, thinking that ball collars would be better than using the standard brass pipe bushings. Thanks.

Yeah same. In the end though I just couldn’t pull myself away from Futaba. I’ve used Futaba since the beginning and it’s always worked without hassle for me and the Flysky Noble although looked great was just to much of an unknown. How’s it handling @ImALlama?

I've used the Jazrider ones. Matches the original Tamiya parts perfectly, though I dare say any of the above should work. Now what about the rear knuckles? Is there anything that'll fit?

Tried masking and painting the lunchbox.. there was some leak unfortunately but that’s my fault I guess for using 10 year old masking tape! Still this is a basher so it doesn’t need to be perfect.. and for my first time painting I think it’s quite good

Back in school may electronics teacher had a different take and sticker to match - a tidy desk is a sign of a sick mind

I keep seeing your photos and thinking whoa that’s a huge box! And then I realise it’s in your model garage - that’s just how awesome and realistic it looks.

Decided to use 3Ms dual lock Velcro for the ESC and receiver. The receiver was a tight fit as the Velcro is quite thick but it just manages to squeeze in whilst leaving a small air gap once pushed in place. Had to trim down the jumper caps on the Quickrun 1060 as it was fouling the top of the tub and also slice some of the top hatch plastic part as it was fouling the prop shaft. The part has been previously split when the shell support had been screwed in. I’ve since drilled it out and slapped some Tamiya cement over the crack. Seems to be holding alright. Decided to pop some shocks I have spare and the final wheels to see how it was looking (with masking tape on the whee nuts so not to scratch them). The shocks I’ll be swapping for some Alu DF03s from Japan, along with some alloy knuckles. Oh and a switch spacer when rubber cover. Just need to decided in the paint job!

Nice. Very neat. Did the same last night too on mine.

A plethora of bits have all started coming in! Tamiya Cement which is awesome! High Torque servo saver which took some putting together! Those springs are strong. A lot of paints. DF03 wheels with foam inserts. A new ESC, spare bearings, some wheel nuts, masking tape and curved scissors. ..but the best bit, a Mignight Pumpkin! P.S sorry some of the photos are upside down

Decided to drill some more holes to secure the servo in properly. One wasn’t quite in the right place so switched the servo mount round and voila! Tested it with the receiver and ESC loose and all seems ok. Next will be drilling a small hole in the cross support next to where the wires are curled up so I can loop the zip tie through to hold the wires down, then I’ll be fitting a standard sized Tamiya switch to the receiver and finally sticking the receiver and ESC in place.

I was wondering the same!

Great work - but I think you have a problem Trying desperately not to buy another car myself - though I keep thinking of adding WW2!

Test fitting the servo placement... I could get a shorter servo so the linkage lines up better but honestly I think this’ll be fine. Just trying to decide now if I shave some support flanges off the top of the server mounting as I reckon the plastic servo mounting arms would fit then in the original mounting holes, or do I stick it to the metal mounting plate. The metal plate would probably provide more support but then it’s not as easy to remove... Going to pop the receiver under the linkage and the ESC on top of the servo. Oh and will replace the servo saver with the hi torque when when it arrives to remove some of the slop.

I’m excited for you! Enjoy

Had a go at my first mod today - the HS steering mod using a YR M05 steering set. Not to sure how if this allows for the wheels to turn enough yet or if I’ll have to cut away some more of the sides where the screw to hold down the top case goes yet... but hopefully not. Also need to buy some more spacers and some nuts. Just used what I had to hold it together for now for testing. Thanks to @MAD RACER, @BORMAC and @SHY69 for the inspiration! Great mod guys.

Wasn’t this something racers did back in the day as although it meant the gears had to be replaced move often, it did provide better performance?

Hi, I’ve a few suspension arms and related bits from the HS line of cars and was wondering if these are of value to anyone? I think I’ve heard of those that prefer vintage parts rather than rere parts and although they aren’t in great condition, they could be glued still for display purposes ? Just through I’d ask on the off chance and it’s likely they’ll be thrown otherwise. I’ve also an original gear box that appears in tact but I’ve yet to inspect it thoroughly up for grabs. Will add photos if any interest.. Thanks

Few more bits for my modern HS2. I think the most useful here is the YR ball end removal tool - purchased thanks to seeing it another thread. Been struggling twisting them off for years!
