  1. I believe the recommended thing is to insert it inside the tube to the tip, and anything left is wound up inside the car. Reception works best when the tip/end that is unshielded is vertical. Winding or putting a cap over the top, folding the excess wire down is not good.
  2. Hi. I think you mean B10 and B11 as I can’t see a B12... and unfortunately those are the two parts that I ordered the tree for! So sorry. It’s also stuck in the post so I haven’t actually for them yet. However once it arrives you are welcome to the rest of the tree. If you have access to a 3D printer (something I’m looking into right now as it happens) I’ve found a model for this part online so could print it yourself, see here.
  3. Hmm... now what... it’s looking like I’ll have to do the decorating to keep busy !
  4. The epoxy seems to have done the job so I finished the assembly and had a quick run on the drive. It’s been 30 years and all I can say is I really need to work in my driving lol. Need to adjust the front wheel alignment a bit and paint the shell. Then this evening I’ve been working on another project that I picked up today whilst shopping with the nephew. Well if he’s getting something then I thought it rude not to get a little something for me
  5. After collecting a load of bits it was finally time to put my Hotshot 2 back together! Now when I took it apart for cleaning I inspected every part and ordered replacements for what wasn’t stock or that appeared broken... it seems I missed a few First up a crack in the rear gearbox. Now luckily I’d got a replacement part as I knew about a crack in the front gearbox so I’d already ordered the required parts tree... those C springs sure are ******s to get off! And despite seeing other people had said to do it in a bag so they can’t fling off somewhere I ended up spending ages looking round the room for them... twice! And then.. urge... new gear box with C springs don’t work... doh... took it apart again and replaced them with E clips. Much better. Now I notice a crack in the shock tower. ******. Can’t get those anymore. Hmm time to invest in a 3D printer?! Make one out of carbon fibre? Settled for trying to fix it with some epoxy and that’s drying as I type so I’ll see how that works tomorrow morning. Next I find a crack in the front shock mount, part D2. Brilliant another D part. Right let’s try some more epoxy... but! It looks like the Boomerang shares this part on its B part tree! So that’s now on order. Anyone with a Boomerang who would like the rest of the tree is welcome to it. Oh and the newer propeller shaft slides about. It does not look like it’ll come lose but it’s annoying. I’ve read popping an O ring in one of the cups sorts that out.. I just don’t have any spare O rings doh.
  6. Another soldering tip, use a fine tip. My first iron had quite a large flat side a bit like a small chisel and always had difficulty making neat connections. Switched to a fine point tip and all my troubles went away.
  7. Some more spares.. However they either have mold lines or cracks on... is this normal? My original parts don’t have these marks.
  8. From the states (I’m in the UK). I’ve a couple of items I’m still waiting on from China that appear to be ‘stuck’ what with all that’s going on.
  9. New gear box, gears, couple of BEC switches, plastic antenna tubes & tops, antenna holder and a customs card
  10. In the model database there is a list of parts and part numbers that are compatible. I use this to find the current part numbers.
  11. Is that paint on the tyre lettering? What kind? Looks mint!
  12. Super Sabre gear bag which I nabbed for a steal, to build up some spares for a “just in case” scenario.
  13. My dad always said never get rid of tools. After he passed I had a load of his and my grandads old tools - they were both car mechanics. Kept hold of them for years until we moved and had a sort out. Now that I’m restoring an MGB GT I’ve had to buy a load secondhand or new. Sod’s law in action.
  14. Yeah I use similar. Sometime ago a purchased a Dewalt drill/driver set that came in their Toughbox System. It’s rock solid, water tight and I use it as a step all the time. Last year I saw a number of their organisers were on offer so snapped them up and have now moved over from Stanley organisers to Dewalt DS100s. I like them because as above, rock solid, water tight, they stack and are rack mountable. So when I just got back in RC it was a natural fit to use them too. PS how do you rotate images on here
  15. Greer video! Should have done one too but didn’t want to have to go outside and into the garage in the rain so used photos I already had Wish I had a door through from the house or even if the garage was more ‘finished’ to give it a warmer appeal but ah well. Can’t complain about the space. Occasionaly I get to use the dining room table but that’s reserved for when the wife’s out and it’s very much a covert operation!
  16. Checking a gear box and nooooooooo
  17. New propeller shaft and cups (I have the originals but as I’m going to run the car and they are ‘hidden’ I decided to beef the internals up whilst keeping the originals safe in the parts box), tyres, a reproduction shell (the old one is cracked and painted in both sides!) and a custom due card ...and then after going to pay the duty and collect the item and a bit of shopping too... Futaba 3PV, Hobbywing 1060 ESC, charger, battery, press parts pack and RED SHORT CVA SHOCKS ! So happy right now.
  18. If I’d have bought a HS and then a SS, I very much doubt I’d be able to justify buying a HS2 a year later with what I bet many would say is a downgrade. However, seeing all three and never owning any of them and going off looks alone I would have bought the HS2. So yeah I think I agree - if they’d given it a other name then it probably would have sold more. However I quite like the name so glad they didn’t
  19. When the wife and I were looking for a place together I was more than happy to find somewhere with a big garage, and with a bit of negotiating a deal was struck (you can decorate the house entirely how you like it, if the garage is “mine” )! Since moving in though there are still numerous boxes that need sorting and somehow a “potting plant” shelf area seems to have managed to sneak in! But here is what it did look like, and then with a workbench I threw up with an off cut of worktop. Once the summer hits I plan extending the worktop to the side wall, with wood storage underneath and storage racks all along the opposite wall. Oh and to reorganise everything! In the process of dissembling the 1971 MGB GT so that’s taking quite a bit of space. Would love to see you MGB GT, markbt73! As you can see mine needs a little work
  20. After seeing another kid at school with what I believe was a Grasshopper, I was suddenly and utterly embarrassed by mine, which I had believed was the best R/C in the world (a kids RC model of KITT from Knightrider). Since I got home that evening I mustn’t have shut up about it for months and come my birthday my mum took me to someone’s house who was selling their RC car - a Hotshot 2 - as he himself had just built a new one that his girlfriend had bought him for his birthday. As soon as I laid eyes on her I knew she was the one. I’d never seen any of the other Tamiya models at this point but wow she was a beauty. I looked at my mum, she looked at me, I looked back at the car and after my some haggling we came away with the Hotshot 2. Along with it we got a Futaba Magnum Junior, an old (still working) battery wrapped in black insulation tape and a charger powered by a cigarette lighter. I don’t know which of us were more relived, my dad or me, when we discovered you could buy AC chargers! Some years later I got into computers and wanted some money for some games and stupidly sold the Hotshot 2. What a crime. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I did however keep a set of green crystals that I used the most as a souvenir, which I still have today. Something in the air recently cast my mind back to those days and I recalled all the fun times that I’d had with it. So I started the hunt. I soon found that Tamiya had been rereleasing models from my childhood, the old 27MHz radios were no more and now there were brushless motors and LiPo battery packs. Nor could I believe how rare some of the older models were (and the prices!) and that Tamiya had not released this one! I kept looking and was so lucky to eventually find one for a good price and in almost stock form, with all the rare parts in tact (other than the CVA shocks). I’ve so far disassembled and catalogued all the missing stock parts, thanks to the help of online manuals and placed orders for the parts I need to restore her to her former glory. Now I’m just waiting for them to arrive so I can put her back together and take her for a spin.
  21. Damper bag and a card from Royal Mail saying that another item is at a depot miles away as they did not abide by my instructions to leave it in the shed
  22. PS-5 paint.. just need the new shell now.
  23. C parts tree for my Hotshot 2, along with a water pump gasket and engine core plugs for my other project in the garage (a 1971 MGB GT)! Hmm... wonder if I can find a servo to fit that
  24. Thank you ! It’s the little things that make you happy
  25. Ah, twinset “cannot receive messages.”
