Thanks! PM sent. That car looks sweet.

Never heard of this hop up before.. at least not an official Tamiya one. I was only aware of: - bearings - Technigold motor - 8.4v racing pack - two front shocks (as seen on the SHS)

It’s the metal plate that the threads gone in. I think using the next screw up size is a good idea but thank you. That might save me another day

Good shout. Thank you!

How right you both are! Amazing build. Such a well thought out and study buggy. Some of the hex heads were a little shallow and the supplied allen key wasn't great, but other than that the build is phenominal. I still wish it was a Tamiya though And I messed up on screwing in the marker plate to the roll cage.. used the wrong screw and messed up the threads But yeah, anyone without an Optima/Javelin/etc def. buy one!

Does anyone have a spare Marker Plate for the Kyosho Javelin? This is included in the roll cage part set, part Number: K.OTB247OR. I recently build my Javelin and I've messed up the threads on the plate so the screws don't hold it... though looking at the original Javelin they used zip ties... Thanks.

I wasn’t aware until recently that chain drive was a thing and then was very disappointed that Tamiya never made one (I’m Tamiya through and through - makes no sense I know but that’s how it is) so that left only one real choice.. and now I feel dirty Looking forward to a different type of build though and I’m sure she’ll be a great runner. Not sure where she’ll go when not in use.. perhaps behind a plant pot or something to hide my shame

Just a heads up, you can buy theses NIB for £145 so it’s unlikely to sell at £165 at the moment.

These are now listed, other than the Titanium Screw Set.

No build thread but both are in my showroom. A vintage that I keep on the shelf and a runner. https://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=137402&id=54058 Need to update the vintage one actually with the original shell and decals. They’ll falling off in places but I can’t get a vintage replacement so it’s cool… it’s the used look! I’ve got one of the carbon chassis too which I’m thinking of putting in my runner though the weight saving isn’t really there and it would expose the gearbox… if I were to put the SHS skid plate on then I’d lose the weight saving. I also have some of those pipes on order and was thinking of sleeving the gearbox and arms like you have done.

Yeah, I asked him if he’d make it and he said yes I use it myself on my two HS2s. I looked into getting it made in alloy but the costs are huge. I do also have the carbon one you posted and an unused vintage HS2 part but I don’t want to risk breaking it so it’s sat in a box! Looking forward to seeing how the Boomerang part fits.

There is a 3D print file available for the HS2 rear tower as another option. Also, and I suspect you know and/or don’t kind with the other upgrades you’re doing but just in case - the top rear arms are not HS2 specific as those had triangles in to match the bottoms. The circle cut out style arms are from the HS/SHS only.

So the carbon fibre chassis is 111g. The HS2/rere chassis is 96g. Adding the battery cage arms brings it to 103g. Adding the HS2 battery under gauge brings it to 144g. I don’t have the HS battery under guard to weigh that or the SHS skid guard. So for me it saves 33g on a HS2. Of course this is without fixings and it would leave the read gearbox exposed. Anyone know how much the SHS skid guard weighs? With that too there may not be much it in.

Love this! Think I’ll have a fo at making some as well.

I checked the manual for the rere HS and my HS2 manual and the rere HS appear to use fine continuous thread. My HS2 is corse thread and is only threaded on the end section.
-
I've not got a tap set yet, but I think this is a good option and should hopefully allow you to save the chassis and make it a lot easier to take apart again in the future. The HS2 uses a different thicker thread for these screws. Might be worth trying to source and use those instead?
-
Definately a HS2 for me! Would love one NIB. Only ones I've seen are over $1,000!

Tamiya 50245 motor bullets are 3mm. -
Thanks. Those look like they’d push the servo forward, which may be fine for some chassis. Are you aware of any still being made that are the standard oblong ones for use in HS, TF etc?
-
I came across your post whilst looking for these myself in alu., and saw this old thread too: Some of which you can still buy but unsure if which will fit correctly. I'm after some alu ones of the standard size myself. I think third party might be the way to go but i hear the quality isnt the best.
