  1. When I was at primary school all I knew of RC cars were the typical toy cars you got that all worked on the same frequency and you couldn't race with your mates. Then one day I saw another kid with a Grasshopper zooming across the school playground and from that moment I knew I had to have one. We didn't have much money in our household back then but my mum found a guy selling a Hotshot 2, as his girlfriend at the time had brought him a newer car for his birthday. I don't remember what that was, but it might have been a Mantra Ray. Anyhow the HS2 was enough for me and I loved it. With it came a Tamiya catalogue and I would drool over the Avante. It was not until high school that I learnt of Losi and modified motors and felt like I knew nothing again with a toy car. Still, the HS2 was enough for me. Later on I had a Mardave Cobra where I dipped back into the hobby again for a short time.

It's only recently when I've got back Into the hobby and fore filled those childhood dreams of having an Avante and all the other cars I'd dream about that I've tried out a Kyosho and a Schumacher.

  2. I used the Detolf but as said above they won't fit most cars length wise. I didn't want to take the glass sides out so instead I put blocks under them to raise the backend up higher than the front. I've been contenplating getting some U bracket shelfs and mount them to the wall that way.. of course you lose the 'sealed' case then... but the detolfs aren't really sealed anyway.

  3. I saw someone cut plastic pipe used for drainage into sections, and then cut a section out of those to make a ‘C’ shape. They then secured them to a wall with the gap pointing down. The transmitter can be turned upside down then and the base slid into the open tube.

Have we started a USA based thread yet?

I'm looking to see if anyone has some stock TT01 parts leftover that they would be willing to part with for a project I'm working on for a trucker buddy (main driveshaft and cups, steering parts, body posts, etc) ; Restoring/rebuilding his TT01 for him.

I have a bunch of leftover TT02 stuff that I keep as spares, along with much more small stuff I'd be willing to pay forward.

If this type of post is not allowed, please feel free to delete, with my apologies.

PS - I'm in USA in Florida.

I'm the only one that I don't like it, specially the roof?

    Max

You’re not alone. I’d have preferred red parts and a clear body… and hopefully the roll cage and top chassis box is interchangeable with the original/HS/SHS rere.

The higher roll cage is growing on me though.I really went to take a look under the hood and see an unboxing to check the parts out in more detail.

    I won’t be buying one.

  6. Yeah they look like the DF03 hop up shocks. I have a couple of sets. They were replaced with a DF03/TT02 version which changed the smooth caps for ones with grips/ridges. They aren’t vintage and you can still buy them new from some sites.

  7. Great thread. Thank you @Juls1 for all your hard work.

I was wondering if anyone could explain the differences and when you'd use each type of o/x ring that is available? I've had a look round and cannot see this information anywhere and this seems like a perfect place to put it.

    From what I can gather..

    54384 - black o rings
42259 - red (orange to some?) o rings
53574 - TRF damper rebuild kit with clear o rings
    42214 - blue x-rings for silicone oil
    42215 - blue x-rings for mineral oil
42374 - blue VG o rings for diffs
    42359 - navy blue VG o rings

I know the black ones are hard and great for perhaps shelf queens, but little else and I've always used red/orange o rings over these. I've never had any of the others and I don't find that the descriptions on Tamiya's site very helpful, so where would you use them and why?

    Thanks all.
